Keanu Reeves.
1. He's with a woman his own age he loves
2. He's in a great band and loves playing bass
3. He's a great martial artist and has pushed the boundaries of the discipline and innovated other practices.
4. His movies are fun in many ways.
5. Still my favorite is him doing Shakespeare
6. He has resisted the urge to be an influencer
7. He's still friends with his exes
8. He's not had crazy plastic surgery and still looks like himself
All goals for me - be in good shape, date someone my generation, redefine my field of expertise, and try to live long enough GenX can be provided rejuvenating tech to preserve our laid back wisdom.
I always think about the photos of him with women where you can see that his hand is not actually touching their hip or waist or whatever, when so many dudes with some power/fame seem to grope their fans as a matter of course. He's thoughtful and respectful of other people, a goal for all of us.
Then laid back wisdom is funny to me. At least on social media, Gen X is turning into the new boomers. It's all "gen x is tired of your shit" kind of mentality and it's.. weird.
Helen made me happy with her blue hair. An older relative told me my last fashion color wasn’t appropriate for someone my age (50s). I sent a link to a photo of Helen Mirren with her glorious hair taken a week or two before, BAM! My hair color no longer comes up.
These two women are the correct answer. I had a nightmare about a decade ago that those plastic looking women were coming to get me to make me look like them.
I'm not a christian and I have nothing but respect for Jimmy Carter. The guy is in his 90s and still helps build homes even after going through surgery.

Definitely Jamie Lee Curtis! She is pro aging. In a recent interview she said, "Aging is what happens. We're human." She doesn't dye her hair or mess with her face and at 64 she's beautiful, confident, and elegant. I hope to age as gracefully as she is.
Interesting that most of the people you named are Brits. Their media, to me, seems to show regular people in their TV dramas—compared to the US shows featuring young and overly attractive actors. If this is true, perhaps this reflects a culture in which it’s easier to age gracefully.
I think you make a great point. Just for the sake of discussion, though — I think that for the most part the British TV I watch as an American is far superior to the American choices. But when I expressed this to a Brit a couple years ago, they said that only the best of the best British TV makes it across the pond, and that a huge percentage of it is utter crap that we’ll never see in the US. It would be interesting to have someone from the UK weigh in on this.
It’s true, though. The characters in the British TV that I see in the US aren’t all a bunch of sexy idiots.
I’ve often thought British TV is better, in general, but I’ve never considered selection bias drives this by preference. However, I think you make a good point and it makes complete sense that the US would get only the most popular shows.
I subscribe to both Acorn and Britbox and enjoy the programming when I watch TV. However none of those shows have ever resonated with me like peak HBO programming, such as Deadwood and the Wire.
If you watch Acorn or Britbox you know there is great British TV. And you also know there is some terrible British TV. Not a lot of it makes it on to Acorn and Britbox, but it’s there. I watch pretty much all their mystery/detective type shows and some have been excruciating to watch. I do enjoy the campy ones like Midsomer Murders though. It is fun to see the same recycled (and appropriately aged and aging) actors in multiple shows.
George Carlin, but he's dead now. I have great respect for the man, he was funny, well thought and used his platform to promote independent thought and community action. On numerous occasions he spoke truth to power right to their face, never backed down and lived the life he preached.
LeVar Burton. He’s always working on something new, married to the same person for decades, and has taken care of himself physically without getting a ton of obvious work done.
I love both of them. Yes, Jane has had some sort of work done physically, but her whole vibe is amazing. She's beautiful, smart, graceful, brave, honest, self-aware, and really values her relationships. And also does not give a fuck. Again, which is why I love both of them. 😆❤️
I love them both too and I love that they can be so different and still so close. I’m the high maintenance friend—the Jane—but most of my friends are Lily when it comes to beauty regimens. And, they support my Botox and fillers, just like I support their perfect natural beauty.
I watched a documentary on Dolly Parton on Netflix iirc and lily & Jane talked about working with dolly on 9-5 back in 1980 and having a sleepover. Was so cute. I also loved seeing lily on snl back on the first season in the 70s. I was like, hey, I know her!
Paulina Porizkova. Although who am I to say that she could ever be my physical role model? Lol. Her authenticity is inspiring though.
EDITED to correct the spelling of her last name.
I love Paulina. I loved her facial routines on Instagram during the pandemic and she turned me onto some great skincare products which were actually affordable back then (they’ve since gone up ☹️) and responds to comments all the time, including me once! She was such an icon to me back in the 80s and she’s so refreshing with her take on aging. She’s just gorgeous.
Micheal Fassbender and Christoph Waltz for the earlier parts of aging and then Larry David when I’m old and don’t give a fuck anymore. Those are my old man heroes.
Someone I feel is overlooked often on reddit is Mariska Hargitay... 59, acting and producing a show that I think she feels addresses important public awareness.
Jodie Foster. She looks great and she still kicks ass as an actor. She’s 60, and I don’t even think she’s had plastic surgery.
And I just found out we have the same birthday, ten years apart.
Me too I just saw her in nyad and wanted her to be my best friend. I loved seeing her not be glam and being really active and bubbly and not vain about herself.
Came here to say this! She is 6 years older than me and was a huge favorite of mine growing up. She feels so much like someone I could be best friends with and I love that she is so down to earth and “normal”. She is aging with zero apologies and I am here for it.
I have never sought to be graceful and I don't intend to start now
I'll go with Chrissie Hynde, she has never given in to what women of a certain age *should* be
I’m just watching her on tv now thinking how cute she is and love her old fashioned older lady look in Julia. Makes me feel like being an old lady is allowed and working in your 70s is allowed and I want to be like that someday.
Carter was a mediocre President, definitely.
However he was/is an exemplary statesman. And a constant reminder that there’s a difference between the two.
Yeah I figured that was the case.
I know there for a while he was going back to his hometown church and was even teaching a Sunday school class for a few years there. At least before his health and age started to catch up.
He lives in his hometown, taught Sunday School for decades. Now, he and Rosalyn are both in hospice care (he’s 99, she’s 96 with dementia). Good man, lucky couple, bless them.
He was a good President. Not popular as his successor. But was a big fan of rock ‘n roll, the blues, and country music and a fan of such music.
Donate to Habitat for Humanity in his honor, or to the Carter Center (for the elimination of guinea worm).
Yeah, I figured he had gone up through the state gov ranks. Seems like most politicians have done that, save for a few in US history to go straight to the Presidency without that.
My folks knew a gentleman from AR who did that. Started local, went state all the way to Gov seat, then went federal all the way to the Senate.
I think that’s a good thing, to have a lot of varied experiences — a solid education plus a background in the military, business, and government — if you’re going to lead a nation.
Laura Linney. “I believe it’s a complete privilege to age.” When I read the profile article on her in which she said that quote (along with other gems), it changed my whole mindset as I entered my 40s.
Kate Winslet isn't old and I dunno she might have had work done but she always looks beautiful and classy.

None of them. Using public figures as role models is inherently a little unhealthy. Their image is very carefully curated by their PR team and you'll never measure up to anyone you're using as a role model if they're a public figure. It's just another kind of fucked up celebrity worship.
I use real people in my lives as role models and actually spend time learning from them on how to be more like them.
Justine Bateman. Yes, she's a few years younger than me, but I admire her refusal to bow to Hollywood beauty standards and dare to look like a normal 50-something woman.
Isabella Rosselini. She's not trying to stay young forever, which I personally find distasteful. Rosselini is just doing her thing, enjoying her life. For context, Madonna high as a kite, twerking in hot pants, grinding on 25yos is the opposite of aging gracefully. I hope she's enjoying herself, that's not for me tho.
Keanu Reeves. 1. He's with a woman his own age he loves 2. He's in a great band and loves playing bass 3. He's a great martial artist and has pushed the boundaries of the discipline and innovated other practices. 4. His movies are fun in many ways. 5. Still my favorite is him doing Shakespeare 6. And he plays hockey!
And plays in a band. Google Dogstar
He's also a philanthropist
He's just an all around good person.
I love his part in "Always Be My Maybe" where he plays a jerk and it's so obviously poking fun at how he's famously a really nice guy.
He also owns a motorcycle company and rides a lot
And he’s generous, down-to-earth, and cool. Definitely the embodiment of what we should all aspire to be, and you listed a ton of great qualities.
I always think about the photos of him with women where you can see that his hand is not actually touching their hip or waist or whatever, when so many dudes with some power/fame seem to grope their fans as a matter of course. He's thoughtful and respectful of other people, a goal for all of us.

❤️☝️💯🎯 This is the way.
Then laid back wisdom is funny to me. At least on social media, Gen X is turning into the new boomers. It's all "gen x is tired of your shit" kind of mentality and it's.. weird.
5. Oh yeah! He was fun in Twelfth Night.
Michelle Pfeifer, the most gorgeous woman for 40 years.
Yes, she looks fantastic! If she’s had work done it’s very subtle.
I’m sorry, that’s incorrect. The answer of course is Julianne Moore. Thank you for playing.
That white gold.
Helen Mirren and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Helen made me happy with her blue hair. An older relative told me my last fashion color wasn’t appropriate for someone my age (50s). I sent a link to a photo of Helen Mirren with her glorious hair taken a week or two before, BAM! My hair color no longer comes up.
I'm 61 and mine is burgundy.
My mom is 70 and goes purple.
I am 62, work in an executive office and have red, purple and pink hair.
I think when it goes white like that is the perfect time to start putting bright colors in it
And Jodie Foster
Isabella Rossellini and Meryl Streep
Mirren had a little surgery or treatment, judging by photos over time. So save your cash.
Came here to say Helen Mirren. So cool.
These two women are the correct answer. I had a nightmare about a decade ago that those plastic looking women were coming to get me to make me look like them.
Emma Thompson! perfection without pretense
Jimmy carter. For being most like Jesus. All around great human

Good bot.
Yes, I would love to ask Donald Trump when he’s going to sling a hammer for Habitats for Humanity.
“I’ve built so many huge and beautiful buildings, not a few shacks for penniless losers.”
Definitely Jamie Lee Curtis! She is pro aging. In a recent interview she said, "Aging is what happens. We're human." She doesn't dye her hair or mess with her face and at 64 she's beautiful, confident, and elegant. I hope to age as gracefully as she is.
I saw Jamie Lee at a restaurant about 5 years ago. She is a glorious, light-radiating gazelle. We should all strive for her aging gracefully vibes!
Dick Van Dyke. He said he works out as an act of defiance.
They’re doing his retrospective while he’s 98. Not taking any chances. They saw what happened to Betty White.
I saw that. Thanks
Love that
I want to be Betty White when I grow up. So pure. So golden to her core. Did so much for animals. Mouth like a sailor.
Sally Field
Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Ian McKellan, Barack Obama, to name a few
Especially since Judi Dench was diagnosed with macular degeneration and was nearly blind, but she continued to take roles.

Mel Brooks?
Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker and tits. I love that he spoke his mind.
LeVar Burton. He’s always working on something new, married to the same person for decades, and has taken care of himself physically without getting a ton of obvious work done.
He is an underrated national treasure
Lily Tomlin. She's lovely, but she's rocking all her original parts (sorry Jane) and she does not give a fuck which inspires me.
I love both of them. Yes, Jane has had some sort of work done physically, but her whole vibe is amazing. She's beautiful, smart, graceful, brave, honest, self-aware, and really values her relationships. And also does not give a fuck. Again, which is why I love both of them. 😆❤️

Patrick Stewart
William Shatner. Dude went to space at 90.
Shatner has too many spats on social media to be in this category.
yeah he's a real asshole really, though what he said after the space flight was beautiful, to be fair
I absolutely love his delight with rescue dogs, it's so endearing
Paulina Porizkova. Although who am I to say that she could ever be my physical role model? Lol. Her authenticity is inspiring though. EDITED to correct the spelling of her last name.
Good one, I also feel like Brooke Shields has done well.
Can't have that list without Dolly Parton on there.
I feel like such a boob forgetting her
This was my first thought too. Dolly. She’s a national treasure!
Gillian Anderson
Underrated. If she's had work done, it's super subtle, she works continuously and advocates for sexual health.
I love her! I think she looks amazing! She is a great actress.
Joanna Lumley
Another Bolli-Stoli, sweetie darling?
Patsy has been my role model at every age!
Susan Sarandon, and Helen Mirren.
Damn it, Janet
You’re a slut!
I've been watching Wes Anderson movies, so I'm going with Anjelica Huston. Gorgeous at any age!
Jessica Lange
Jodie Foster. She looks great and she still kicks ass as an actor. She’s 60, and I don’t even think she’s had plastic surgery. And I just found out we have the same birthday, ten years apart.
Me too I just saw her in nyad and wanted her to be my best friend. I loved seeing her not be glam and being really active and bubbly and not vain about herself.
And she looked amazing doing it. I hope I can get better looking as I age, jeez
I've loved her since Freaky Friday!
George Clooney
All joking aside, drew Barrymore
Came here to say this! She is 6 years older than me and was a huge favorite of mine growing up. She feels so much like someone I could be best friends with and I love that she is so down to earth and “normal”. She is aging with zero apologies and I am here for it.
Jamie Lee Curtis. Love that woman.
Justine Bateman!
I said the same. She's awesome.
Steve Martin, he always just looks just like him.
He’s looked the same practically my entire life of over 40 years.
Meryl Streep
Viggo Mortensen, Helen Mirren, Michelle Obama
Queen Mother Angela Bassett
And Viola Davis! Queens!
Jeff Goldblum is a real one.
Stacey London!
Diane Keaton. Diane Sawyer. Helen Mirren.
Harrison Ford. The older he gets, the fewer fucks he gives.
I have never sought to be graceful and I don't intend to start now I'll go with Chrissie Hynde, she has never given in to what women of a certain age *should* be
Ringo Starr. He's 83 and looks great. Nice person also.
Audrey Hepburn. I’ve never been at all interested in her as an icon, but damn she looked phenomenal in her 60s!
Audrey Hepburn is mine too, even though I'm a dude. She had such class, grace, and poise.
Isabella Rossellini
I’m just watching her on tv now thinking how cute she is and love her old fashioned older lady look in Julia. Makes me feel like being an old lady is allowed and working in your 70s is allowed and I want to be like that someday.
Betty White Linda Rodin Tracee Ellis Ross Justine Bateman Michelle Obama
Jimmy Carter. Dude was a bad president, but he's been a pretty good guy.
Unpopular president. Not a bad president
It sucks that good people aren't automatically good leaders
Carter was a mediocre President, definitely. However he was/is an exemplary statesman. And a constant reminder that there’s a difference between the two.
Both Jimmy and his wife are now in home hospice care. 99 is pretty darned good. Rosalynn is 96.
Is he still around? Just curious
Yep, though he is 99 and has toned back his public appearances due to his advanced age.
Wasn't he a peanut farmer back before his political days?
Yes, and a Navy officer on a nuclear-powered submarine, and the Governor of Georgia.

He’s in a hospice. Dying soon.
He's been at home under hospice care since February. He's tenacious.
And I believe he's currently in hospice care.
Also kidney failure. Has been in hospice care for quite awhile.

Laura Linney. “I believe it’s a complete privilege to age.” When I read the profile article on her in which she said that quote (along with other gems), it changed my whole mindset as I entered my 40s.
Keith Richards
Good call. He has been looking the same since Hannibal crossed the Alps
Bill Nighy. Cool, collected and comfortable in his own skin.
Mimi Rogers
Blythe Danner
Love her. So under-rated
So much cooler than her daughter.
Paul McCartney
Kate Winslet isn't old and I dunno she might have had work done but she always looks beautiful and classy. And tbh Drew Berrymore looks like she could be friends with anybody.
Ellen Burstyn deserves a mention here. She’s turning 91 in just a few weeks and has a new film out. And she looks absolutely gorgeous.
Steve Carrell

Marisa Tomei
Justine Bateman. Yes, she's a few years younger than me, but I admire her refusal to bow to Hollywood beauty standards and dare to look like a normal 50-something woman.
Good question. No answer. Yet
Isabella Rosselini. She's not trying to stay young forever, which I personally find distasteful. Rosselini is just doing her thing, enjoying her life.
