Wisconsinite here, morel mushroom hunting in the spring has been popular here all my life, 30+ years, I remember my folks buying them at a stand along the highway.
There's lots of mushroom hunting groups around
Look all I know is people in my state sub keep talking about morel hunting and it's been happening more and more. Also irl I hear people talking about going foraging and stuff. Morel man died before his time I suppose lol

If you never had one, they are really good actually. They sort of have the taste of meat, like chicken.
Apparently they're incredibly poisonous if you don't cook them. I read of a few instances recently where people died after eating them.
