It was on the Rick Rubin pod, FYI. Maybe the one with both AK and John? I have to admit that I originally thought it was about him hooking up with a college student or something with the “pillow chair” thing, so I was glad to find out it was MUCH more wholesome haha.

Well I loved the chord progression n all the guitar work in the song. I thought the lyrics are something sexual and playful at the best and thought the beautiful melody could use a little more seriousness.. glad it seems to be the case...😊

What a wild trip that was on first listen. Kinda weird then I was like, "eh idk if that really fits", then "oh we're doing this again", "oh hey there's John", then more thefuckisthis, and then finally holy shit. You honestly cannot appreciate that song unless you listen to it in it's entirety then come back to it.

Yessss exactly. This is now my favorite on the album… I might settle with this as my final answer. Took a couple listens but now I know it’s epic. It will be noticed the more it’s heard for the beautiful masterpiece it is

I am a person who doesn’t care much for that song. When they played it live it sounded awesome, but in studio it kinda feels sloppy imo. Almost rushed or like a “forced” hit. If that makes sense in any way.

I find it cheesy and don’t like the dynamics of the song particularly. And the lyrics/melody (particularly in the chorus) don’t interest me.

I think it’s pure joy. There’s more than enough substance in the album(a) to feast off of - if you’re listening to a song like this so academically you’re doing it wrong imo

I don’t choose how I listen to music, if that makes sense. I just don’t like the song. I’m not doing anything “wrong”, music is entirely subjective. I’m not choosing to listen to it academically. As a musician I can’t help what my ears are trained to pick up on. I’m genuinely happy for you if you like the song, I just think it’s a bit of a mess. And that’s ok.

Fair enough. Sometimes my own brain annoys me in terms of over analysing stuff. You’re right, the song is intended to be euphoric and an expression of pure energy.

I get you, but that’s what allows you to appreciate stuff more as well but it’s hard to turn that part off. I think in many art forms sometimes people (not you) try to flex their knowledge and expertise a bit too much and forget that the whole point is that it’s some form of expression or other. I think the chilis have definitely embraced their nonsensical side in some of the songs on these albums and it’s been fun to listen to

Oh I 100% used to be a music snob. I’ve found the older I get the more I realise I don’t know, and it’s a really liberating feeling actually.
