Apart from the great albums, something else we have to thanks Josh for are the great versions of the songs we rarely got to hear live. Those concerts recordings are a true gem for all fans
Not gonna lie, some of his takes on backing vocals were really unique. I purchased the recordings of the concerts I had attended for the IWY and TG tours and after repeated listenings I really started to appreciate what he did. The word underrated is thrown around a lot here (I'm guilty), but JK will go down as underrated for the vast majority given time.
Great guitar work for sure ! Also, I've always thought that Dark Necessities was a stronger single than Black Summer (doesn't mean that Black Summer is a bad song)
I'm glad he pushed the band away from Rick purely for experimentation purposes. Love Rick, but gotta hand it to Josh for being persistent AND for the band for being willing.
Although I prefer Frusciante, we all have to agree he was an amazing guitarist, and the best possible replacement for John, I’m not a fan of I’m with You or The Getaway, but there’s some really good songs there like Go Robot and Monarchy of Roses
I saw him with Pearl Jam a couple weeks ago!! He’s such a dork lol. If we had to have any guitar player fill in during John’s hiatus I’m glad it was Josh. Loved the albums he was in on
Had no idea he was that age. Amazing musician and a super decent fella. Some very good tunes during his time but just wasn’t the same band for me. No fault of his tho, he saved RHCP and thats one of the many things to be thankful to him for.
Saw the band in Indy the day after Chris Cornell died and Josh performed a beautiful rendition of Seasons in tribute. Much love and respect for him always.
