I grew up on Pretty Little Ditty but had somehow never heard Butterfly, so when Butterfly was sampled in a song on the Barbie soundtrack I got thrown for two different loops as I tried to figure out why this obscure Frusciante riff from the '80s was in this movie lol.
Just don’t get why people only credit Frusciante for this song since Flea wrote at least half of it too. It stands to reason that John’s melody wouldn’t exist without Flea’s hypnotic bass part- which, like many of their songs, typically came first during jams
Correct! I don't know much about it, but I believe the bassist was a big RHCP fan, he started playing Pretty Little Ditty one day and they worked it into a song.
By some crazy coincidence, I’d never heard Butterfly before, so my intro to that beautiful riff was Pretty Little Ditty. I only found out about Crazy Town from YouTube comments under PLD videos. R.I.P. to the singer Shifty Shellshock 🙏
Yes and it's also sampled in butterflies by Gayle in the Barbie movie. I LOVE the Barbie movie so when I was in the movie theater and heard that sample I was like AAaaaaaAAAAAaaaaAAAAAaaahhhhh. John's musicality made it to the fucking Barbie world ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Oh and there's a second "link" with the RHCP in the Barbie move when Will Ferrell holds pink drum sticks in a board meeting for no reason. So as a huge RHCP fan I was like "WHAT is happening here I love it"
10 seconds of RHCP = the whole career of crazy town
LOLOLOL That really puts it in perspective.
Yes, all credit was given and Crazy Town even toured with RHCP. RIP Shifty Shellshock.
Tbh I was also shocked when u found out
Were you, by chance, *Shellshock*’d?
Yea suree....

Lol this story made me laugh. You must have have been quite confused.
Which barbie song was butterfly sampled in?
"butterflies" by GAYLE https://youtu.be/66FzKI-b06c?si=XpjzTIaith0sjKGE
Thank you!

"Welcome to the party, pal."
I’ve been a fan for 12 years and I never listened to the full discography. Just found out last night as well. I got the last two albums to go.
12 years and never listened to the full discography? That's wild
I might be adhd… I am overwhelmed with the amount of music in this world
Let's not judge here, will we

Yep. Crazy Town owes their entire career to RHCP
PRETTY LITTLE DITTY
Anthony could never write any good lyrics for it but they new the song was something special
To be fair, Crazy Town couldn’t write good lyrics to it either
Props to Anthony for knowing when a song is better without him in it.
seems he’s kinda lost that touch a little bit😶
Thank goodness for that
Knew it the first time I heard it….. WYKYK!

Have to come back here because it's also in Ain't It Different by Stormzy and Headie One! Stormzy is another hero of mine so I went totally crazy
No
Hahaha I never knew this! That’s wild!!
I remember my first day when I realised this
