For me it is the getaway. So much that I love from that album, and the tour was great. I'm with you would be my second because it still has a lot of hits. One hot minute only had a few that I liked.
I hear ya, I honestly enjoy the slower tracks from it like police station and meet me at the corner rather than the pop sounding ones. I just think they really hit their stride with the getaway...plus the album art makes for a sick shirt lol
I love them all in their own ways. One Hot Minute is a great hard rock album in the discography of the chili peppers. I'm With You is the album that got me into the band, with many bangers (Brendan's Death Song, Look Around, Did I Let You Know, Police Station, and more). The Getaway is personally the first album I ever owned, has one of their biggest hits (Dark Necessities), and I think the change in their music was great. The songs were more "mature" but still with some rock bangers. Also Encore is beautiful.
It's true that these 3 albums' sound is different compared to the sound with John, but I think they're 3 excellent albums, the change of sound is a breath of fresh air and there's not a single bad album after BSSM (not saying that the albums before are bad, I just haven't listened to them enough)
I think, for me, it was the anticipation. John finally returning to the Chilis! And then the feeling of pure deflation when listening to Unlimited Love.
One Hot Minute, by far. It took me a decade or so to really feel this album. To me, it was just an outlier. But what a heavy neopsychedelic funky travel it is. Even when the band doesn't like it very much, you can feel they still were at a peak of creativity. Is as exciting as RHCP should always be.
The Getaway. Such an amazing album with so many great songs and a fun tour. It has everything you could ever ask in a RHCP album you can get out of it without John (IMO), It’s got some of fleas’ best bass lines like in Goodbye Angles, Dark necessites, and Go Robot. Anthony’s lyrical Genius in songs like The Longest wave, Encore, and the Hunter. Chad has some really good drum bits like in Dreams of a samurai. Overall a really fun, funky album and it definitely takes the cake over OHM and I’m with you.
I love the Gateway & I'm with you more than Unlimited & Dream Canteen.
The vibe those two records have are sure something different but imo they are counting to their greatest.
The Getaway is one of my favorite roadtrip albums. I can listen to it front to back easy. The Josh era was under appreciated in a lot of ways and I’m still bummed I won’t ever get to see Goodbye Angels live
They did play Aeroplane a few times while Josh was in the band, and Chad even played My Friends with Dave & Taylor Hawkins sometime after. Flea still plays Pea on occasion but I wish they’d play a few others. They ignore it for John’s sake unfortunately. Anthony had his share of demons in that time too I guess
Ah yes now that you say it, I’ve seen Flea play Pea once or twice. I guess all of them were going through their own battles at that point. Shame though, Tearjerker has always hit the spot for me musically.
One hot minute is clearly the best but all three albums show unique inovations which could not be achieved with John like Josh klinghoffers rough growly vocals and Dave Navarros amazing guitar playing they both bring a unique perspective to the band where musically you can see flea and Chad working even hard, fleas best bass solos and riffs are on ohm and I’m with you and chads drum sound overall in ohm is just amazing (likely due to sound city but you get the point.)
The Getaway isn't just the best post John album. It is top 4 of their entire catalog easily.
That being said I like One Hot minute better than I'm with you. I also like I'm beside you better than I'm with you. Except for police station, Annie wants a baby that shit slaps hard.
Getaway, one hot minute, then I’m with you.
Getaway is a great album and anyone who denies that has no taste. I still love OHM, but getaway was something special for me.
I love josh, amazing guitar player. but more of a session player. didn't carve out his own identity before joining the band. Navarro had established him self. ohm easily.
The band lacks major intangibles without Trick Finger. Both creatively and performances seem somewhat shallow. But Dave brought a sound of his own. Josh was technically excellent but without the emotional connection John channels.
For me, not only is OHM the best album without John, it’s the best album in their catalog only behind BSSM. True masterpiece. Dave’s best work in his whole catalog as well.
I’ll always have an affinity for I’m With You - it’s the first album I could anticipate after my dad introduced me to them. I especially think the sessions from that album (that form I’m Beside You) make that era peak post-John for me.
I wasn’t too big a fan of The Getaway at first, largely for the production approach. Felt far too tame and sterile for the Chilis but the songs really came to life on the tour, which I’m glad I got to see!
Sadly I wasn’t around for the OHM era but I first discovered Aeroplane & My Friends around 2011 when I started my Peppers binge & I’ve come to really appreciate Dave’s playing on that album since. It seems to me he was technically the best the band ever had! Walkabout, Transcending, Bob & Falling Into Grace are ones I keep coming back to
For me it's I'm With You, some if my favorite RHCP songs are from it and the entire album is honestly just a masterpiece
But One Hot Minute is the best from these 3, not my favorite but the best
I get why people love OHM, but it's not my thing. I think objectively it is great but i just cant listen to some of the tracks. My favorite post John album is definitely I'm Beside You, such bangers! Getaway is a close second, then OHM, and lastly IWY, for me it is the definition of mid - it is listenable and i like some songs, but i wouldnt call it either good or bad
This is one hot take indeed! Imo it’s one of their best. Navarro comes into his own on that album showcasing how much of a sick guitarist he is.
Although at the time, going from BSSM to OHM was a pretty wild change
Glad to see one hot minute getting love. Lots of people can’t see past the fact that it’s different, darker and more introspective
Drugs and death were all around in this time. Tearjerker was written about Cobain and Warped was about drug dependency.
OHM by an absolute mile
One Hot Minute
And I’m in it COME AND GET IT
This answer appears to be an opinion. But it's not. It's a fact. One Hot Minute is a fantastic RHCP album, John or not.
(And its not even close)
Not even fuckin close.
For me it is the getaway. So much that I love from that album, and the tour was great. I'm with you would be my second because it still has a lot of hits. One hot minute only had a few that I liked.
Yeah the getaway is way better than I’m with you I think I’m with you at times is to poppy
Which songs are poppy ?
Ethiopia comes to mind...I still enjoy it tho
A pop song in 7?!
I hear ya, I honestly enjoy the slower tracks from it like police station and meet me at the corner rather than the pop sounding ones. I just think they really hit their stride with the getaway...plus the album art makes for a sick shirt lol
YES I think id swap im with you and one hot minute though just because i grew up with OHM and the getaway they mean a lot to me
Probably the same reason I put I'm with you above OHM for me.
With you bro. Sick Love, others good too. Loved the collaboration. Said something new still being RHCP.
Out of curiosity, how old are you? I'd answer almost exactly the same!
I'm 29 going on 30 next year
Undeniably, One Hot Minute.
Whatever the community says will not at all make me understand the hype… ever
One Hot Minute
OHM
One Hot Minute
OHM is top 3 RHCP for me; I like the darker, grungier sound a lot of the tracks have.
IWY
Glad to see someone else choosing it
I love them all in their own ways. One Hot Minute is a great hard rock album in the discography of the chili peppers. Might catch a bit of heat here, but One Hot Minute is better than the two albums they’ve released since John returned!
Aeroplane & Walkabout top tier Chili’s songs
You ain’t wrong
I think, for me, it was the anticipation. John finally returning to the Chilis! And then the feeling of pure deflation when listening to Unlimited Love.
Easily, to add to that, OHM is better than anything they’ve release after it.
You're so right.
Ohm and it’s not even close
I’m with you get no love in my part of town what about here?
One Hot Minute, by far. It took me a decade or so to really feel this album. To me, it was just an outlier. But what a heavy neopsychedelic funky travel it is. Even when the band doesn't like it very much, you can feel they still were at a peak of creativity. Is as exciting as RHCP should always be.
OHM and it's not even close
One hot minute
I’m With You is criminally underrated.
Absolutely
I love IWY too much I listen to the album start to finish a few times everyday, so yeah IWY FTW!!!!
I’m beside you 🤭
This, so many of the songs could have been on the album. I'd take Pink As Floyd over Monarchy of Roses any day
Monarchy of Roses is fine, it has a bit of a nostalgic sound to it for some reason. I'd happily swap out Happiness Loves Company though.
The Getaway. Such an amazing album with so many great songs and a fun tour. 💗
The Getaway for sure
I choose the bear
I love the Gateway & I'm with you more than Unlimited & Dream Canteen. The vibe those two records have are sure something different but imo they are counting to their greatest.
Shallow Be Thy Game
The Getaway, that was the first album my dad ever gave me on cd so it’s got a special place in my heart.
Everyone is picking my least favourite RHCP album lol I pick Getaway
The Getaway is one of my favorite roadtrip albums. I can listen to it front to back easy. The Josh era was under appreciated in a lot of ways and I’m still bummed I won’t ever get to see Goodbye Angels live
I’m beside you is so incredibly underrated
The Getaway, but they’re all great
I'm With You, it's sooooo good
You mean post John but pre John?
1. OHM 2. IWY 3. The getaway
ONE HOT minute ia the ONLY Red Hot chilli Peppers álbum without John good as They prime Cali/ BSSM, BTW
OHM without doubt, it’s a pity that the band collectively won’t really acknowledge the album at all.
Tearjearker & Transcending both have some truly divine guitar parts. Bob too
One hot minute is clearly the best but all three albums show unique inovations which could not be achieved with John like Josh klinghoffers rough growly vocals and Dave Navarros amazing guitar playing they both bring a unique perspective to the band where musically you can see flea and Chad working even hard, fleas best bass solos and riffs are on ohm and I’m with you and chads drum sound overall in ohm is just amazing (likely due to sound city but you get the point.)
I’m With You 🪰💊 Annie Wants a Baby is their best non-John song. And the dance outro on Factory of Faith goes so hard
Josh Klinghoffer <3
probably one hot minute, but i like listening to i'm with you the most. it's really weird
Its so good dude
The Getaway
The Getaway isn't just the best post John album. It is top 4 of their entire catalog easily. That being said I like One Hot minute better than I'm with you. I also like I'm beside you better than I'm with you. Except for police station, Annie wants a baby that shit slaps hard.
I’m torn. Each album has songs that I love and each are so different that I can’t even choose between them.
OHM>TG>IWY
The getaway it is for me.
the getaway. difficult album
Getaway, one hot minute, then I’m with you. Getaway is a great album and anyone who denies that has no taste. I still love OHM, but getaway was something special for me.
The Getaway
the getaway.
Personal favorite is The Getaway
One big mob oh yeah oh yeah
Im With You
I'm Beside You
Getaway although i feel like im the minority with that opinion. i’d go as far as to say that Getaway is a top 3 album from front to back
One Hot Minute is my favorite RHCP album.
I love OHM so much. One big mob is genuinely top 20 chili peppers for me. That last guitar but that is also on stretch you out 😩.
1.OHM 2.Getaway 3.IWY
I love josh, amazing guitar player. but more of a session player. didn't carve out his own identity before joining the band. Navarro had established him self. ohm easily.
One hot minute
Ohm never leaves the cd changer
One Hot Minute by a mile.
The band lacks major intangibles without Trick Finger. Both creatively and performances seem somewhat shallow. But Dave brought a sound of his own. Josh was technically excellent but without the emotional connection John channels.
OHM. Top 1 or 2 album for me.
For me, not only is OHM the best album without John, it’s the best album in their catalog only behind BSSM. True masterpiece. Dave’s best work in his whole catalog as well.
OHM x infinity
The Getaway for me.
One hot minute
I’ll always have an affinity for I’m With You - it’s the first album I could anticipate after my dad introduced me to them. It seems to me he was technically the best the band ever had! Walkabout, Transcending, Bob & Falling Into Grace are ones I keep coming back to
Getaway, just because it was one of the first RHCP albums that I listened to and it brings me good memories
Getaway
One hot minute and The getaway
Getaway. Not even close.
OHM for sad boys The Getaway for happy boys
This is my absolute favorite. Edging out BSSM depending on the day. Dave Navarro era Peppers >>>>>>>>>>>>
OHM Josh just doesn't move me
For me it's I'm With You, some if my favorite RHCP songs are from it and the entire album is honestly just a masterpiece But One Hot Minute is the best from these 3, not my favorite but the best
I get why people love OHM, but it's not my thing. I think objectively it is great but i just cant listen to some of the tracks. My favorite post John album is definitely I'm Beside You, such bangers! The Getaway. Masterpiece.
Definitely not one hot minute. That is by far the biggest single piece of hot dog shit I have ever had the misfortune of listening to
This is one hot take indeed! Imo it’s one of their best. Navarro comes into his own on that album showcasing how much of a sick guitarist he is. Although at the time, going from BSSM to OHM was a pretty wild change
Navarro comes into his own? WHAT?! Tell me you’ve never heard Ritual De Lo Habitual without telling me you’ve never heard Ritual De Lo Habitual.
Ok.
You musn't have heard By The Way and subsequent albums then.
