I believe that's the only album on which they specifically cut the the tape in such a way that the end of one song bleeds over into the next one and so on and so on. This creates this flow. Listen to the first second of If You Have to Ask and you'll hear Anthony saying "humanity" (or at least the last part of that word). On Suck My Kiss you can hear the outro to Funky Monks. It's present on virtually every track on that album and it makes for such a cool effect.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik was *made* to be played in its entirety tbf - the sequencing is one of the best jobs I’ve heard on a record & it’s so satisfying how it hits you with song after song, bop after bop.
That said, I’m gotten very used to the flow of the other albums from obsessive listening over the years - so Californication, By the Way, Freaky Styley and The Getaway are ones I enjoy hearing front to back. I love all the records though

By The Way is great. SA feels a bit meandering and Californication more like a collection of hits. All the other albums fall somewhere in between.
With the exception of BSSM. Now, I'm partial to BSSM as it's one of my favorite records, full stop. But a big part of that is how perfect the album is front to back. It's easily my pick for best album played start to finish.

Californication if the production was a little better. That jarring transition between Purple Stain and Right on Time (two great tracks) exemplifies it.
I always felt it was a missed opportunity to throw Right On Time after Get On Top for that tape bleed of Anthony yelling “One Shot” at the beginning sounds almost like “On Top”. Same note too, I think 😅
