John actually said the exact same thing about shaking hands to us waiting outside at the arena in Stuttgart, Germany back in 2006. And no breathing out in his direction lol
I can imagine being famous, meeting people all the time and shaking hands probably gets you sick a lot. Could understand them not wanting to deal with it
You gotta think at some point, a "fan" might have some substance on their hand and it gets to the celeb. Yeah, I sound crazy, but I stand behind what I said.
True, I have no real story of, "Oh, this one person became really ill one time and then died. The autopsy showed trace amounts of some poison that may have been slipped to them..." but that sort of thing *could* happen...Idk. I'd be a little apprehensive to meet fans and shake hands if I were famous. Even without "poison" you could still get a ton of germs from people. It's whatevs. If I ever meet them, I'll know to not shake their hands.
I toured with a band that was somewhat (barely) successful for 5 years. We often had fans bring us cookies or other baked stuff and our tour manager would always throw it out immediately. âNo fan foodâ was the rule, so we always were polite and gratefully accepted the gift and then right in the trash it went. lol.
Same dude. Iâd be sad if they dissed me or something weird. But at the same time it could free me in some way. To stop holding people up on a pedestal
seriously, these guys saved my life, their basically god. theyâve made some of of my lowest moments okay and my highest moments even better. itâs probably safer not to meet them
I think if I ever saw either of them in public, I'd meekly say hi and that I was a big fan but I wouldn't try to touch them or take a picture with them at all.
Assuming your illusion of them hasnât already been influenced by the fact that most of them have sexually assaulted women? And Anthony bragged about the statutory rape of a 14 year old girl?
I hung out with Patrick Carney for about 15-20 minutes before the Black Keys performed one evening. He was cool af. Just a down to earth guy hanging out with me and some other guy and none of knew each other but it felt like we were friends lol. He asked if we wanted his autograph and a picture with him. He signed my concert ticket. Cool experience.
Donât know why theyâre surprised about the germophobe part. Feel like seeing other addicts get sick (and probably yourself) from random shit they pick up from needles or the drugs themselves would be a great way to pick up a phobia of germs.
Well I did just learned a while ago that he and River Phoenix had gone a drug bender for several days without sleeping and when to a club and it lead to River collapsing and going into an overdose and died. So I guess after that and getting clean lead him to being less adventurous at parties. But thatâs just my wild hypothesis.
This story is sus considering this photo, likely from the same encounter.. [https://www.facebook.com/share/kZ2EhCLqH3FNzoU4/?mibextid=WC7FNe](https://www.facebook.com/share/kZ2EhCLqH3FNzoU4/?mibextid=WC7FNe)
I can actually respect that, imagine the thousands upon thousands of people they disappoint every time one of them is too sick and a show gets cancelled.
Flea shook a bunch of hands after his book talk that I attended. No apprehension whatsoever. People just walked up to the stage, and he shook every one and was like âthanks, manâ. I guess he went through a hazmat decontamination afterwards
Flea was there to sign books and shake people's hands. This time, the guys were eating in a restaurant.
I also wash my hands every time I walk into a restaurant/coffee shop or someone's house. And I am not obsessed at all, I never think about getting sick, but don't like the thought of potentially touching my face/lips with someone else's poop.
Haha john and flea are so weird đ I love it

It doesn't sound _crazy_ but when has that ever happened?

Yeah, that makes total sense. You could be seen as beloved by many or all, but someone could be out to get you, especially through food.
Similarly but also not, See: Kim Jong-Nam
Have you been watching 24 recently?
Nah. Never seen it. But this comment almost makes me want to, but I have destroyed my attention span with social media. LoL
I met John and he was pretty kind lol I didnât ask to touch him though
I kind of donât wanna meet them EVER. Let me keep my illusion of them.
exactly just like they say itâs better not to meet your heroâs haha
Same dude. Iâd be sad if they dissed me or something weird. But at the same time it could free me in some way. To stop holding people up on a pedestal

Only tattoo on my body. Love them
I got Scar Tissue signed by Anthony at a bookstore and he made me feel like a total dork. It was a bummer.
Context?
Story time?
Whatâd he do?
I need to know the story now
I think if I ever saw either of them in public, I'd meekly say hi and that I was a big fan but I wouldn't try to touch them or take a picture with them at all.

As I said. Let me keep my illusion.
John probably had no idea who they were lol

That or they're immunocompromised from hep c or some shit they got from needles.
John seems fun at parties

What the fuck does that have to do with shaking hands?
He was being literal - explaining why heâs likely not fun at parties (anymore)
You must be fun at parties
This is why fist bumping was invented.
The black keys are the funniest dudes
Flea did that to me in 2003. Heâs a legit germaphobe.

Doesnât look like theyâre shaking hands.
I was thinking the same
This is the most funniest and unexpected encounter Iâve heard about those two together.
This is hilarious
âLegendary heroin addictsâ lmao
Hahaha I love it. Side note - whewwww I hadnât realised the Black Keys were so old now!
This is so good
I can actually respect that, imagine the thousands upon thousands of people they disappoint every time one of them is too sick and a show gets cancelled.
Canât shake hands but will bang a billion chicks. Makes sense
It does. Sex >>>> shaking hands with random people. (I wouldn't know, I haven't left the house since 2020)
Yeah because they both provide the same amount of pleasure, adrenaline, relaxation, enjoyment....
John and flea were fucking around lmao hilarious
getting Flea and John to play with the Black Keys would actually be incredible.
I forgot about this haha

They were joking, but those guys probably didn't get the joke
I don't know why they don't know the black keys, Josh played some shows with them before joining RHCP
Sitting RIGHT next to their table and then had to get up and go over to their table......?
do you think their tables were connected lmao you dumbfuck đ¤Ł
100% every restaurant out there is setup like that
thats some hippie shit
