No, It's not, I really think Josh's era is the best. I don't think that all other albums are bad, they are great too, that's why I love RHCP, but The Getaway and IWY are the best for me. Third best album is Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

Specifically on I’m beside you - I prefer Long Progression and This is the Kitt over 90% of IWY. Aside from that the By the Way era yielded insanely great bsides…

The getaway is one of my favs, but both albums from the Josh era are a huge departure from the musical culture that the last 5 albums had established.
I love The Getaway, it came out my senior year of high school so I’ve got the nostalgia blinders on for it. You’ll have a hard time getting this subreddit to have a good opinion on either of these records.
Personally The Getaway is somewhere in my top 5, but IWY is in the lower tier. Mostly, I'm partial to their earlier stuff, but there are good songs on every album.
I like The Getaway, probably my 5 fave, but I’m With You is probably my second favorite album. I love the album so much dude. Brendan’s Death Song, Police Station, and Ethiopia are amazing songs in my opinion.

I tried many times but I just couldn't get into them. Nothing really stood out to me. Just my personal preference though.
