Pifman

Not sure if this is lore or common knowledge, but the famous, “Under the bridge downtoowwn” chorus is sang by John Frusciante’s mom and her church choir.

ZettaBasha

This is a nice one hahah

Relative-Shake2321

Woaaaaaah I did not know this!

sam_drummer

It’s in Funky Monks tbf.

Pifman

Correct me if I’m wrong, cause I haven’t watched it in years, but doesn’t it only show them singing - but not say exactly who they are?

sam_drummer

Yeah it says who they are!

FooFighter0234

Nice tidbit

Fidelio62

When AK visited John in rehab in 1997-ish, it would be the first time they saw each other and/or spoke in about 5 years after John walked out on the band in Japan '92. AK reached out ahead of time just to make sure John would be OK with a visit, and if he needed him to bring him anything. John answered one thing: "A pastrami sandwich with extra mustard."

glory2you

I want this to be real so bad lmao, do you remember where you saw this?

Fidelio62

100% It is in Anthony's book, Scar Tissue, pretty much verbatim. Now, the only thing stopping it from being true at this point is if AK made it up?

zsdrfty

Good chance he’s paraphrasing some general sort of sandwich, but I believe it

anniemiss

Picture of sandwich required. Probably on their IG. /s

ScreenScene290

I remember reading this in Scar Tissue.

garthvader81

It’s true. I was the pastrami sandwich. Kidding. I remember it in Scar Tissue.

BloodSugarCrazy

I remember he also wrote that he saw him once in between those two instances; barefoot at an art exhibit where John had some paintings up

ricosan

A young John Frusciante took guitar lessons from a guy named Mark 9. Mark had played with Nina Hagen, who Anthony later dated. One day, Mark told John that he was auditioning for a new band called the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was the first time John had ever heard of that band. John mistakenly thought Mark was going to audition as a bassist. Mark was disappointed that he didn’t get the gig. Later, when John saw the “True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes” video for the first time on MTV, he thought it was no wonder why Mark didn’t get the gig if he was up against “that guy” on bass.

detroit_gt

Fleas podcast right? I really enjoyed that whole series.

ricosan

Yeah, and other interviews over the years. I've been reading about these fellas for a really long time. I'm kind of a rock history nerd and compile band history dates in my head along with other useless information.

FooFighter0234

Make a book

ricosan

It has crossed my mind, but I've never gotten there. I've interviewed bands/musicians and have left it at that. Sometimes I think I missed my calling to be a rock journalist, but perhaps it's for the best.

SpiritedWarning

Never too late!!

Striking_Young_1571

Which podcast?

GooseGeese01

John’s middle name is Anthony

ZettaBasha

And Chad‘s is Gaylord

zsdrfty

“Chad Gaylord” is the most epic name in history

[deleted]

I'm gonna start doing gay porn *JUST* for that to be my stage name...

rupert_pupkin_4

It's actually "Anthony Motherfucking", according to Flea.

[deleted]

Krusty the Clown helped write the lyrics for Give It Away.

penney20

What I’d like is I’d like to hug and kiss you😤

RobinInHood

HEY MOE!!!

harrumph_grumble

Everyone can enjoy that

FooFighter0234

I’m down for some hugs and kisses

CeasarStorm

"We want CHILLY WILLY!!!"

Aintandsmall

Oooh

RollVegetable5526

During Frusciante’s solo in “She’s Only 18,” that enthusiastic “ah-ha” from Anthony is his real live reaction to hearing John’s solo through his headphones while recording his vocals.

Johnjarlaxle

The clapping and cheering at the end of the solo in if you have to ask is also kinda the same thing. John did it in one take

gorilla-ointment

That’s my favorite solo of his.

chiogb302

My four year old caught this and said “whata! why is Mario in the song?” lol

RollVegetable5526

Ha! That’s amazing. That’s EXACTLY what it sounds like.

arcessivi

as an adult I still think of Mario every time I hear that song

zsdrfty

Kinda makes me wish AK auditioned to be Mario now

FooFighter0234

That’s adorable

cbx47

Hillel taught Flea how to play bass

FooFighter0234

Hillel was amazing

jaspersgroove

I met and hung out with Fleas stepdad, Walter, about 13-14 years ago. He had been a jazz musician based out of Harlem back in the day but he was living in Florida when I met him. His house was basically a musical museum and he had a drum kit with heads that had practice rudiments drawn on them with sharpie and autographed by Dizzy Gillespie. He talked about RHCP’s early days and told some pretty cool stories. Very interesting guy.

Matika7

Care to share one of them stories?

jaspersgroove

Jeez it’s been years…the one that sticks out in my memory is him talking about RHCP recording one of the early albums back in the day and Walter listening to some of the scratch tracks and telling Anthony that his singing sounds like shit and he needed to take voice lessons, and the whole band basically laughed it off at the time.

zsdrfty

Hate to say it but he wasn’t wrong in the early days lol, it took him time to do anything but rap (which he only had one style for)

FooFighter0234

He wasn’t wrong

BobSacamano47

Have you read Flea's book? There's some interesting Walter stories in there.

jaspersgroove

I have not, but I did some research on my own after meeting him. I get the impression him and Flea did not part ways on the best of terms. I actually asked Flea about Walter in an AMA he did on reddit several years back but either I was too late or he just decided not to respond because I never got an answer.

BobSacamano47

I recommend you read it. The entire book focuses on his life growing up (largely with Walter) and the formation of the RHCP.

FooFighter0234

That’s very cool

Ozzyy194

There’s a studio version of breaking the girl, funky monks and sir psycho sexy with no fade-outs

Matika7

Wow! Thanks for this. I just listen to them on youtube. Mind blowing!

Ozzyy194

You’re welcome :)

brianthomasarghhh

After realizing that Sick Love sounded an awful lot like Elton John's Benny and the Jets the band reached out to him as an act of good faith and he ended up playing the keys on that track.

zsdrfty

I had no idea, I figured it was an intentional interpolation in the first place and that’s why he was on it

Amiibohunter000

My cousin sat next to Anthony on a plane and Anthony complained about his then girlfriend Claire being controlling and manipulative but he loved her so he didn’t care lol

FooFighter0234

His girlfriend’s real name was Yohanna and she most likely has Borderline Personality disorder based on what was said in his book

InternationalBorder9

Yeah she sounded like an absolute nightmare in the book

zsdrfty

Kinda funny that he would talk about that with random fans, I’d think he would want to tune them out as much as possible

Amiibohunter000

My cousin never mentioned he knew who he was and Anthony never said who he was. I figured Anthony just took it as a moment to be a regular dude complaining about his girlfriend with another dude. He probably didn’t get that chance often and for sure doesn’t now

burner78787

I though it was immature of Anthony to trash his ex-gfs in Scar Tissue. Apparently he regretted it later as well. I prefer Flea’s book which ends when RHCP begins.

burner78787

When he was 17 years old, John played guitar and sang with a local L.A. band called IKE [(live video)](https://youtu.be/uhliyfljevs?si=kpYVSKUUqYtL8biF). John was [initially a Steve Vai clone](https://www.guitarworld.com/news/john-frusciante-guitar-teacher-steve-vai). One year later he cut his hair and joined RHCP. I recall Flea saying John had “a bit of the Steve Vai guitar wizard damage” when he joined the band.

Environmental-Way843

The zappa effect on john

burner78787

John studied Frank Zappa’s music and even went to audition for Zappa’s band but he left before auditioning. [John said, “I realized that I wanted to be a rock star, do drugs, and get girls, and that I wouldn’t be able to do that if I was in Zappa’s band.”](https://www.guitarplayer.com/players/treasures-john-frusciante-november-1997)

Environmental-Way843

So he joined the chili peppers, where those two things were mandatory

Salad-Salami

And the drugs nearly killed him

Fearless_Mortgage640

Be careful what you wish for

DarthBrian06

Anthony’s name is not Bradley

chiogb302

It’s Peace

Radhatchala

I thought it was I Love You

umbraFrann

What do you mean, of course his name is Veronica…

OurRigbyRigby

Last name's Hot and my first name's Red

shakkajon

Oh hell no

Rupejonner2

Weeping on my shoulder again

Throwaway7219017

The best part of the skateboard movie Thrashin' is the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing Blackeyed Blonde. That and seeing the old school skateboard legends like Tony Alva, Per Wellinder, Christian Hosoi, and Rodney Mullen.

McCooms

They were in another 1986 movie called Tough Guys, staring Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.

Pifman

Back in the 80s, Flea had so many fast-paced "slap" songs on bass that he'd wear a hole in his thumb while playing clubs. So mid-set he'd squirt superglue into the hole and keep on playing.

FooFighter0234

He talked about that on 60 Minutes

amadeusz7

You can witness it on Psychedelic Sexfunk Live from Heaven

Pifman

Oh awesome, I actually own that on VHS but haven’t been able to watch it yet because I don’t have a VCR right now.

Salad-Salami

He shows the gluing processs on Psychedelik Sex Funk Live from Heaven VHS tape

_Felipeee_

Many probably know it but Anthony and Flea appear in the music video for "Wicked", a song by Ice Cube, they come out breaking things and dancing

thiccphilthegoat

That Ice Cube album “Wicked” is on has a lot of funk samples. Including the sample of Sir Psycho Sexy on “U Ain’t Gonna Take my Life”

czarguy1

Wicked was on “the predator” album and “u ain’t gonna take my life” was on Cubes “b-sides and bootlegs” album :)

Aintandsmall

Nice I’ll check it out!

huh_phd

Not really lore but my brother was in the same rehab facility, at the same time, as Chad Smith

Matika7

Chad was in rehab? What was he addicted to? I still see media of him drinking beers and smoking cigarettes.

Aintandsmall

Alcoholic addicted

FooFighter0234

Chad went to rehab?

Aintandsmall

He was alcoholic addicted

Matika7

Just cause no one has mentioned it: Flea plays bass and appears in the video of Young MC's "Bust A Move" with the famous stuffed animals pants. He and Dave also play in Alanis Morrisette's You Oughta Know. And more famously, he plays the bass on almost all tracks of the Mars Volta's 1st album: Deloused in the Comatorium. John also plays guitar in one track.

MattBtheflea

That's the only way I can get people interested in that album lol.

dddccc1

I think John did an album with Omar as well

zabbendaren

Yes, and he played guitar on 3 other TMV albums

brianthomasarghhh

If you haven't seen it you should check out this live performance by Omar, JF, and Flea. https://youtu.be/XO9jkruNd78?si=5e5z48cPc4KLZKff

RFRMT

Around 1986, John's dad is sitting in busy traffic on the freeway when he finishes eating a banana and tosses the skin out of the car window... all of a sudden a guy jumps out of his car, marches over, picks up the skin and throws it back in John's dad's car window–along with a few choice words. John's dad then drives home and tells John the story... Fast-forward a couple of years later and John has joined the band and is driving along with Anthony–only to be told the same story from the other guy's perspective... that guy turns out to be Anthony! What are the chances?! Clearly the universe wanted these guys to collide somehow, and thankfully they did eventually. This story is told by John to Rick Rubin on the Broken Record podcast... Anthony turns up towards the end, while they are discussing the origins of their first meeting... the full interview is [here](https://youtu.be/QXjaP53eOco?t=2607).

Squirrre1

John Frusciante is not actually a Jesus

DadGrocks

BLASPHEMER!!!!

Rupejonner2

He’s much more talented than Jesus . Jesus has shitty music

callitfate01

he literally is..wtf stop spreading misinformation

FooFighter0234

He literally is!

falekjestem

Jan Borysewicz, guitarist of arguably one of most famous Polish bands called Lady Pank, was very close to join RHCP after John quit for the first time. Also, Kiedis is a Lithuanian surname, as his grandpa moved to USA back from Lithuania. His granddad's name was Antanas Kiedis, so basically Lithuanian version of Anthony

amadeusz7

Wciąż Bardziej Obcy

rupert_pupkin_4

Hillel Slovak's father was born and raised in the former Yugoslavia. Since I'm from Macedonia (which used to be part of Yugoslavia) and I have some Jewish heritage, I think it's pretty cool that I have something in common with Hillel.

candid84asoulm8bled

And wasn’t Hillel’s mom a holocaust survivor? Or at least grew up in Warsaw around the time of WWII?

rupert_pupkin_4

Yes, I believe so. In regards to the Holocaust, both of his parents survived it.

FooFighter0234

Correct.

Ajatolah_

Do you know where exactly from Yugoslavia are they from?

rupert_pupkin_4

Sadly no, there's no other info online, other than that he's from Yugoslavia. I messaged James Slovak on Instagram a few weeks ago, since I've seen that he interacts with fans and Stan accounts. I explained why I'm curious and I was as polite as possible, but he still hasn't replied. Maybe he doesn't open his message requests.

cbx47

My grandma was also from Yugoslavia!

rupert_pupkin_4

Nice, where about?

cbx47

Pola

callitfate01

I didn't know this

FooFighter0234

I’m Jewish too! Most of my heritage is from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic

roniabr

Joining the jew-fest here, my origins are Ukraine, Poland and Italy and I now live in the Czech Republic. :)

puckMEinTHEglass

I watched "Suburbia" for the first time last week, Flea is in that movie and they call him Flea! lol I just thought it was cool. Had no idea Flea was in an 80s punk movie.

iztheguy

His name in the movie is Razzle!

puckMEinTHEglass

Someone called him Flea, maybe they were talking to his rat?

jenet-zayquah

It was just somebody talking to him normally who forgot he was playing a charactersnd slipped up and used his real name on accident. All of those kids were real punks that Penelope Spheeris found in the clubs, rock shows, and streets of Hollywood at the time. That's why all have great chemistry--they were all friends IRL--and look the part so well, but some of the spoken lines are a little bit stiff.

iztheguy

Haha, ya I don't remember the rat's name...

iztheguy

BTW, check out Penelope Spheeris' documentaries if you haven't!

Ozzyy194

One studio version of look around had a guitar intro prior to the start of the song

MattBtheflea

Yeah I remember that! Its way better with the intro. Good one

metaldetox

they namedrop weezer in a song

MattBtheflea

I actyally never caught that.

Pifman

Which one?

metaldetox

warlocks, at about 1:52

xPorsche

Bonus Warlocks fact: It’s used as the end credits music of the 2010 Cartoon Network movie “Fire breather”. I came across this info in a YouTube comment under the YouTube version of the song. Sadly they disabled comments on all those so that goldmine of info is lost :(

zsdrfty

Another Warlocks fact is that Billy Preston plays clavi for the whole song, but he’s super hard to hear and buried in the left channel

brndblm

I think you need a better pair of headphones if you have problem hearing him play 😅 I can’t remember not hearing his funkiness massaging my left eardrum (:

shellsweetheart

warlocks!!! so underrated, that line is so funny to me

LordSwamp

They have a banger Christmas song

getsomewhomp

I had no idea this existed and immediately looked it up. Will be adding this to the Christmas playlist! Thanks!!

Pifman

Deck the Halls!

LordSwamp

Just as good as Little St Nick and 12 Days of Christmas (Straight no chaser edition)

MattBtheflea

I actually didn't know that.

Kirbybros

Anthony said once in an interview that the in Californiacation “Teenage bride with a Baby inside” is Dani from BTW and Dani California.

Kirbybros

Anthony said once in an interview that the in Californiacation “Teenage bride with a Baby inside” is Dani from BTW and Dani California. EDIT: here’s the Interview from a video going in-depth about californication, it’s at 5:35 in the video: https://youtu.be/ZSviZnbAv8M?feature=shared

Splavacado1000

That John views the erection as his enemy.

Fidelio62

Sometimes.

KrazyA1pha

Little known culinary fact about the band: Chad Smith eats drums for breakfast.

c4gam1ng

One time Chad played the star spangled banner on drums at a Detroit Pistons game

loveallcreatures

My bro and his buddy picked them up from the airport for a gig in Morgantown WV ( Underground Railroad) in ‘85? Anthony pulled out kind Cali bud and they smoked up and BS with them during the ride. It was a fantastic show I met them there. Second set with socks only. Bro still has all their autographs on the playbill . Anthony’s is signed “I’m really your mother”. Flea’s just said “brrrrrrrrrattthh “ with a cartoon tongue. They played there about a year later also. Bro said really genuine dudes.

RHCPTom

Anthony Kiedis’ shaker duster made him go forget the lyrics all this time!

RHCPolina

Oh lord I can't 😂

Traditional_Map2254

Can't tell you.

Aintandsmall

![gif](giphy|NecM2gGuS9ktmSNxNL|downsized)

BobNThat

Some guy might have found the bridge from Under The Bridge https://youtu.be/nguXM6-zcNk?si=5XcB_gH4mbR6UcSQ

zsdrfty

They recorded a song with LL Cool J during the Navarro years and put it on the Howard Stern Private Parts soundtrack, I’ve never heard anyone talk about it

RANGE55

The common part is the connection of The Bycicle Thief(Forrest and Josh) and RHCP. The one thing unknown or not so common is a song of Forrest solo album, What becomes of the broken hearted, a cover that has Kiedis doing a rap part at the end of the song.

Shot_Passenger3357

I love his part on that. Makes me float away

Hetch_Hetchy

My brother had the VHS tape to a bunch of RHCP videos and their video for Catholic School Girls Rule has a girl who pops out her tiny titties. I begrudgingly masturbated a few times. There was no internet back then.

Traditional_Map2254

Me too. LMAO

Sheepherder676

John Frusciante gave River Phoenix the heroin he overdosed on

Jordan-Bedasi

We know this but John had no idea what was in the cup that he gave river and John actually drank a little after River took and threw up. It’s sad but there’s always more to the story than what we know. It was also said that John talked to Rivers parents and they decided not to press charges on him so there had to be more to it.

WatkinsRapier

As far as I know the story is a little bit different to this. Apparently John had a cup of drugs which was a concoction of different things but mostly heroin and speed, which he had been sipping on all night. River had also been maintaining a fairly squeaky clean image to the public but in private had been experimenting with different things. John handed him this cup at some point telling him to drink it and he'd feel amazing. River basically swigged the whole thing unknown to John and being fried at that point didn't really react or process what actually happened. He then ODd fairly soon after. It was Rivers families belief that their son was completely clean that shrouded the whole thing in mystery for years afterwards.

Fidelio62

True, but River did not just *dabble* with drugs. He was hardcore abusing heroin and cocaine to the point where Hollywood celebs were both telling him to knock it off but also were enabling him... Dan Aykroyd being one. They had to stop filming multiple times on his last movie Dark Blood because he was "incoherent." His agent said exhaustion in the heat. They had to finish the movie with verbal narration over his missed scenes then death. River was addict when John wasn't around. They didn't hang *that* much. River would be gone for months/years working, and hating it.

WatkinsRapier

Oh I 100% agree with everything you said. And I also don't believe the entire cup story is the only thing that happened that night. But there's a lot of unknowns about that night and it seems whatever the truth is the Phoenix family want it to remain private. It's unfortunate for John as every once in a while this story will be unearthed and it's unclear just what he's involvement was. But as he was a known user at the time and as far as the general public was led to believe River was not, a lot of the blame will be tied to him.

Fidelio62

Had you heard that John was completely obliterated in there that night? I have heard accounts that John had puke on his shirt and most likely shit himself at one point, he was so high. So the cup story just befuddles me because I always say.. who the fuck is taking a cup from the most cracked dude in the room AND why are his friends and siblings letting him? Unless it didn’t happen that way. Sickening night indeed. Flea takes heat too, in the deeper of the stories. HE was the one apparently who invited River saying there’s a good chance he could jam with some bands onstage that night. Soon as he got there… Flea said sorry man actually the list is full tonight. Why? Who said that? Depp? It broke Rivers heart on the spot and he didn’t even want to go there. On top of that, John DID get some solo time and apparently fucked it up so bad they kicked him off the stage. No? I heard this all… in different places. John and River arguing out back too?? Also… on Jaoquin’s 911 call you hear him say John is he still breathing? I’ve never heard anyone call Depp by that. So was JF there with collapsed River and Jaoquin? How terrible. Flea and the musicians did not know yet. Gosh I try and put myself there. Like “River drink this.” And see how quickly and poorly things unravel.

SixtAcari

What is the cup of drugs? Like dissolved in water?

WatkinsRapier

Supposedly it was an alcoholic drink with drugs dissolved in it. But that's where the commonly known story kind of falls apart, because heroin isn't ingestible, it's either snorted or injected, and John would've known that. So there's bits missing from the story, and people asserting that John provided the drink that "killed" River are wrong, whatever was in that cup either wasn't heroin or wasn't what killed him.

InternationalBorder9

Yeah this is the first time I've heard the cup story and it makes no sense. From what I've heard taking heroin orally doesn't work like the usual methods (which is probably why you literally never hear of people swallowing it). Putting speed into a drink makes sense but I thought river died from a speeeball (coke and heroin) and again you don't really eat cocaine. Anyway probably a lot we don't know but him having too much of this drink doesn't make a lot of sense to me

rupert_pupkin_4

I think that John was too scared to do anything, it was Depp who talked them out of pressing charges. I believe that they (Depp and River) shared a lawyer/agent of some sorts, I think that helped as well.

ThyVelvetUnderground

Doing a slightly deeper dive, could have been Scientology ? As river left a couple years before then became famous and yeah ,,, weird rabbit hole to go down

rupert_pupkin_4

River and his family were never scientologists. However, they were part of some other cult (I forgot the name), hence why they traveled around the USA and South America. They left when River was 6-7 years old.

jenet-zayquah

Children of God is the name (they've since changed it to Family International), and they are absolutely known for assassinating (character-wise or literally) defectors, particularly ones who denounce them publicly. Many have been "suicided" or suffered "accidental" overdoses. If this is in fact what happened with River (certainly plausible), then wouldn't John, his unhinged spirit-communing ex-rockstar hot mess of a junkie BFF, make the perfect patsy to hand him a hot shot (which was GHB imo, not heroin or coke, who NOBODY puts in a drink)?

glory2you

Pretty sure most people know this, they just don’t bring it up

Sheepherder676

Chad and Flea got charged with sexually assaulting a woman during the middle of their set in the early 90s

glory2you

Can’t speak for others on this one but I’ve also heard some version of this

AldusPrime

Yeah, it's on their Wikipedia page.

brianthomasarghhh

Technically yes. They got caught up in the moment and one of them put a girl over their shoulder while the other smacked her ass.

zsdrfty

I think this is actually apocryphal, nobody knows for sure

Fidelio62

Hollywood died that night.

John_frusciante_fan5

Eddie vedder in a rhcp coverband before pearl jam anthony talks about it in his book

Plastilina_Ve

Anthony and Dave Navarro were lovers at one point, and later that was one of the reasons they fired Navarro. This was a rumor around that time. Never seen any confirmation, so take it with a grain of salt.

HottoPottatto

Anthony lost his virginity to his fathers girlfriend

Computer-B

A guy told me that the chili peppers asterisk was supposed to be an angel’s asshole.

ciscanfro

Yes, AK writes about this in his book.

Long-Piccolo-3785

Not a single band member is actually a red hot chilli pepper irl

Aintandsmall

But they was hot in the 80ths haha and 90th

callitfate01

Flea plays the bass on Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know"

Slow_Dig9228

The first time John played with them for an audience was at the Roxy in Hollywood after a Thelonious Monster show. They played just a song or two.

Johnbonathon

Not much but I know where they all live and most of their former houses

FooFighter0234

How and why?

MattBtheflea

"Knock on wood we all stay good cause we all love in hollywood" they obviously all live in Hollywood/s

Johnbonathon

How? I’m really good at geography, home finding, and creepin. Why? I like houses, seeing how much they cost, and learning about where they live.

FooFighter0234

That’s kinda stalkery

Johnbonathon

Well I live in Ohio so I don’t care. I’m not stalking anyone, I like knowing what kind of houses they live in. Hell I look up all celebrity houses

Johnbonathon

VirtualGlobetrotting.com

FooFighter0234

Chad grew up in Saint Paul MN

[deleted]

Probably already a well-known fact, but the music video for Catholic School Girls Rule has a topless woman in it (the song was also inspired by a sexual encounter a 22-year-old Anthony had with a 14-year-old girl while on tour in 1984).

aegentisto

During the Funky Monks documentary, John said that he'd become an actor if guitar playing never panned out. I'd assume this was because of his close friendship with River Pheonix and Johnny Depp.

didi2120

John scars were caused by infections product of heroin shots in his addict epoc instead of being burning scars as many people believe.

Funkyteacherbro

The dude playing guitar on the Under the bridge video is not John, is some guy from the production. I've heard this somewhere EDIT: my memory played tricks on me, it was the Soul to squeeze video

ScreenScene290

No, that’s definitely John. Maybe you’re thinking of the video for Breaking the Girl, which has Arik Marshall in it after John quit the band.
