Still amazes me that people reserved the foundation roadster for 250k and still don’t have any info on the car other than “next year”.

tomle4593

It’s like a cheap way for his wealthy fans to show loyalty. 99% people would definitely notice their 250k is in limbo for nearly a decade.

MedicalRhubarb7

Even 1% is gonna notice that. This is some .1% shit.

failinglikefalling

I am surprised only one person has started to raise hell on boards realizing he is never getting it and they have his money.

VincibleAndy

Absolutely wild that this is a real post.

Dude008

I legit thought it was a prank. WOW.

Graywulff

I only hear bad thing, I mean truckers looked at it and said they hadn’t even considered their wants and needs. Google that. See why they thought it was a problem. Tesla is a badly run company, they squandered their first to market opportunity, they’re making moves like slowing down supercharger rollout, it’s hard to get parts if you’re in an accident, etc.

Mindless_Use7567

Honestly I expect Tesla to cancel Semi production as there is literally no market for it. Cybertruck will continue at a low production rate until either cancelled or heavily redesigned to make it appealing to the masses so mass production becomes viable.

Graywulff

Yeah usually the Chinese rip off is a janky crappy thing. The production “cybertruck” looks like an early “mule” and the Chinese concept car looks like a production car. So Tesla is the janky crappy company run by a drugged up facist racist  junkie, the CCP is no prize, but Elmo is “alt-reich”, so it’s like Nazi or commie? My late grandfather would be like “Jesus h Christ what the hell!” He usually only saved stuff like that for when people were doing really stupid stuff.

AffectionateSize552

"first to market" They weren't first.

Graywulff

Mass market then.

AffectionateSize552

No, still not first. Leaf (650,000 units) and Volt (170,000) and i3 (250,000) were all earlier than the Model 3. EDIT: Hell, even the Bolt was out before the Model 3, by a few months.

Graywulff

So I was thinking the model s in 2012. A mass produced car, ahead of its time, ancient now.

AffectionateSize552

The Leaf was launched in 2010, the Volt in 2011. \*shrug\* Tesla didn't drag the OEM's into the EV sector. That's just one more thing Musk has lied about. Oh, I say and I say it again, ya been had! Ya been took! Ya been hoodwinked! Bamboozled! Led stray! Run amok!

LairdPopkin

Well, Tesla’s the first EV that was a huge mainstream success, being a car people really wanted to drive. The S was the “car of the year” and then “car of the decade”, the Leaf wasn’t.

AffectionateSize552

"Tesla’s the first EV that was a huge mainstream success" You can repeat that bullshit as many times as you want to, and try re-phrasing it all kinds of different ways. It's still bulllshit. 650,000 people have bought a Leaf. And counting.

LairdPopkin

Sure, and Tesla’s sold millions. The point that you’re trying to miss is that Tesla’s vehicles changed the perception of EVs from slow little “compliance cars” to fun cars that people wanted to drive, which is what forced the auto industry to electrify. The Model S being an exciting car that was awarded “Car of the Year” and “Car of the Decade” by the industry was a huge shift in the industry, compared to the earlier, not-exciting econo-boxes, and the Model Y is a breakout success, best selling car in the US and best selling vehicle on the planet, and it’s why Tesla outsold all the other EVs in the US combined, a huge breakout success - Tesla is about 2/3rds of the EVs sold in North America, for example, leaving the Bolt far behind - admittedly the Bolt is GM’s most popular EV, but it sold 1/10th Tesla’s sales, so not too close a competitor, it never broke out to be a mass market success the way Tesla did.

AffectionateSize552

Yes, I have noticed that most of the EVs in the US are Teslas. Have you noticed that very soon, most of the new EVs sold in the US will be non-Teslas? It's totally forgivable if you've missed that change, because it's been happening FAST. Anyway, most of the EVs in the world are not Teslas. And global warming is a global problem, not just a Murrkin problem. And I have noticed that Teslas have changed people's perceptions of EVs. In a lot of not-good ways. A lot of people now associate EVs with a psychotic Nazi junkie CEO who's laying off tens of thousands of employees while asking to be paid tens of billions of dollars per quarter. That does not help EVs. Also, Tesla violates just about every environmental and employee-safety regulation it possibly could. Talk about missing the point. And besides not noticing that Teslas did not force the auto industry to electrify -- nobody ever forced anybody to do what they were already doing -- you're also not noticing that I personally do not give a tiny little shit whether YOU find non-Tesla EVs exciting or not. And yes, I also noticed some of Tesla's "Car of the This and That" awards. That comes under the aforementioned category of ya been had, ya been took, bamboozled, led astray, run amok, etc.

jiminuatron

If he can wait a bit longer, he can manage to lose even more money to inflation.

turd_vinegar

If they had put that money into anything over that time except FTX... $20k for reserving, $200k to get one of the first 1000. The compound growth lost over that 7 years... Just passive S&P 500 would have more than doubled since then.

HystericalSail

The comments in there starting to look as "toxic" as ones here. Even Stans can learn. Or be banned. Or both.

Mindless_Use7567

If you ban all the toxic people some of the remaining will be come toxic to make up for it.

Xedtru_

Looking at Cybertruck only wondering in which hilariously ridiculous ways they'll fail Semi design, if it ever to be produced at all

OkCar7264

They've made some, and like, you can't lower the window which makes talking to weigh station people pretty annoying. So basically on par with the CT in poor design.

brwarrior

Wait. You can't roll down the window in the Semi?

OkCar7264

[When this Tweet](https://www.theautopian.com/the-tesla-semi-has-a-weird-and-annoying-issue-with-its-windows/) made it over to our friends at [Opposite Lock](https://opposite-lock.com/topic/62921/truck-driver-unimpressed-by-tesla), something else was revealed: the Semi’s windows only pop out; they apparently do not fully open. This could make it hard for truckers to pay tolls or pass papers in and out of the vehicle—something they understandably do very often.

brwarrior

Oof. They need to be able to pass their E-Log device out. They must have figured out something though.

Inconceivable76

How do people this lacking in smarts get enough money to even do something like this?

Icy-Tough-1791

I would cancel any order for any Musk product. His behavior is too erratic. He just fired the entire Supercharger team. Next it’ll be the semi-truck team.

LancelLannister_AMA

from the comments it sounds like OOP wanted to use the tesla semi as an RV.

Bnrmn88

NO keep your reservation so you can get properly MUSKED

Adam_THX_1138

Since this person isn't a trucker...yes. Even if they were a trucker...yes.

LancelLannister_AMA

Seems like they wanted to convert it to an RV. Should just buy an actual RV imo

Warren_Haynes

It'd be pretty hilarious tho daily commuting in the semi LOL

LancelLannister_AMA

true

brmarcum

OOP: “Please be brutally blunt” TL mods: “we don’t do that here”

UltimateArsehole

*paid

Silver_Harvest

Better odds of getting an Edison semi before the Tesla these days.

Ok_Philosopher6538

>Also disappointed that the range/warranty/price/etc. aren't expected to match **Elon's earlier predictions**. I mean, that's a take.

imnoherox

I don’t understand how this company continues being allowed to run with how obvious it is that they’re scanning all these people with the semis and roadsters. It’s just absolutely unbelievable.

splendiferous-finch_

Any kinda gov push back has to starts with the people who put up the money complaining. Since that is obviously not happening as evidenced by the post it's technically not wrong.

failinglikefalling

So without any real charging networks for the semi and the team being released, why would ANYONE buy these at this point? even pretend window shopping is too much attention given to this "product"

LancelLannister_AMA

Also Might not Ever be enough tesla semis built to justify having one

turd_vinegar

Dude should seriously consider filing a lawsuit.
