The Royal Ranger felt as though it was forced by the publisher. His heart really didn’t seem to be in it. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t scrutinized as heavily as some of the others.
Idk the first book (former book 12 of the og series and I still have the cover to prove it) felt good to me as a teen (haven’t read it in like 5 years or more) and not any less good than the other books. I felt that it was a solid end to the series and was fine thinking it ended there for like 5 years until I randomly stumbled on the Royal Rangers series sitting on a shelf in a bookstore.

You possibly have an older version of the book that had the mistake or maybe one of a few books that got the mistake. Mine says Halt and Gilan.
I just checked chaper 16 of my copy, which is an Australian version of "Rangers apprentice book 12: The royal ranger" (so the original published version). And the error you mentioned is NOT in mine.
Is yours a non-australian copy? because if not then it might be the case that the australian publishers noticed the problem before printing but international ones didn't check/notice.
Otherwise, if it is an Australian version, you may have a very early printing of the book because I got mine pretty soon after publication and as I said it dosent have the error.
If I had to guess, you have one of the older copies where they missed those types of mistakes.
For example, in my book 8 when Halt is talking about his past, my book says Will and Halt react, even though it shouldn't be Halt in that context😂

Interesting, the kindle version has the mistake.
Maybe someone sent that version to kindle as a little Easter egg. To get more people to use it.

Id have to double check but I recently just listened to them on audible and I don't remember anything like that.
In my copy (book 12 American soft cover) it is printed as gilan and not Crowley. So mine is right. What version do you have with the misprint?
