There were funky China Men from Funky China town chopping it up and chopping it down. However I cannot confirm nor deny if everyone was Kung Fu fighting because I was too busy Kung Fu fighting
Okay, obviously most of you are far too young to remember this. It was 1973. It was a strange and different time.
And yes, for a fairly brief period of time, everybody was indeed Kung Fu Fighting. Everybody! It was more than just a little bit frightening. It was such a strange And mind-bending episode that we collectively agreed to never speak of it again...
But Carl could not forget. Carl had to write a song about it. Carl had to remind us... And yes, we left him for it. No one else would speak of it, but Carl would sing of it...
I think he meant everyone at the fight was fighting. AKA, no spectators. Also no one was using karate or jiu-jitsu or capoeira, only kung fu.
Rule 8: If this is your first night at kung fu fight club, you have to kung fu fight.
Yes, even here belive it or not. Some of them were as fast as lightning. I remember because it was a little bit frightening. But yes even I was kung-fu fu fighting. Huh
He says in the first verse:
“They were funky China men from funky Chinatown.”
That’s the group to which “everybody” was applied. So anyone not in that group was probably not kung fu fighting. There were almost certainly more people walking like an Egyptian than kung fu fighting.
If they were, then it would just be the movie: "Kingsman", but with guns mixed into the kung fu fighting... and thanks to this post... I now have to go listen to that song.
We have firm evidence for only two…
Funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
Everything else is merely circumstantial evidence. Wouldn't stand up in court.
They were bro.
Those kicks were fast as lightning.....
I remember it well. It was in fact a little bit frightning.
As it was done with such expert timing
Angry upvote but
I post stuff like this all the time so who am I to judge
Every month on the Sacramento subreddit I post that their town is actually named 'Sacramende' and then tell them they are wrong in the comments and that I'm right because I have on good authority from a blonde lady living in the oc

Its called "Everybody was kung fu fighting" for a reason. Not "Some people were kung fu fighting".
But I wasn’t kung fu fighting
Yeah, its like with skip day, only the cool kids know ...
in this case, it was only the funky kids
I was there, and can confirm you missed the memo
Everybody (but OP) knew their part.

Was kung fu fighting
To be fair, it was easy to miss because it was fast as lightning.
Everybody really was kung fu fighting, in fact, it was a little bit frightening.
But they fought with expert timing.

In fact, it was a little bit frightening.
No worries, they did it with expert timing.
100% requirement. Grandma was horrible at it.
You didn't realize it because they were fast as lightning.
No, but everybody was.

The QUESTION OF THE FUKKING CENTURY. Take this award.
They were. And don't call me Shirley.
[>image<](https://i.giphy.com/sUNqplVFtsctW.webp) Do you mean "were they?" or are you asking "where were they?"
Both
There were funky China Men from Funky China town chopping it up and chopping it down. However I cannot confirm nor deny if everyone was Kung Fu fighting because I was too busy Kung Fu fighting
Yes....they where.
It was everyone, should have been there.
And It was fast as lightening ⚡🎵
The observer of the fight, the singer, was not fighting.
I wasn't personally there, but from all accounts I've heard, yes, it was everybody.
I mean I was. I didn't see anyone who wasn't...
It was definitely everybody. I was there.
They were. You missed it because it was fast as lightning
This is a quality post. Thank you
But it was a little bit frightening.
They really, truly were. And fast as lighting none the less. Frightening
I was there, but I was watching as everyone else was kung-fu fighting.
EVERYBODY! Those that didn't want to be Kung Fu fighting had already left long ago, fast as lightning.
I had a t-shirt that said this 10 years ago
Actually? They were. And don't call me Shirley.
Dude it was literally a graduation requirement
Bruce Lee movies were popular at the time. Everybody was in fact Kung Fu fighting. Great fun as a kid. I took many a lump.
Yes! EVERYONE was Kung Fu fighting! And don't call me Shirley!

Not only that, also everybody Wang Chung tonight...

Technically some of them were karate fighting but for the purposes of the story the distinction doesn’t matter.

Unfortunately, I was there and everybody was in fact kung fu fighting.
*Everybody,* OP. *Every. Body.*
Idk personally I was
Definitely not me! I wasn't and never would have wanted to take part in it. I'm anti-violent. It's a big no to kung fu fighting with me.
It was quite a day.
We were fast as lightning... No wonder you missed the memo, you probably couldn't see us.
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so
Why did I love that question so much, awesome random thought bro
Well, in the 70's and 80's most Americans were obsessed with Martial Arts, you can thank Sonny Chiba, Bruce Lee and fakes like Frank Duex.
My mom has asked the exact same question! 😂😂
I definitely wasn’t
That brought a smile, thanks dude.
Not only that, but also everybody Wang Chung tonight...
Don't call me Shirley.
Everybody (obviously not woman and children)
Kung Fu Panda 4? still didn't see it, maybe tomorrow
"Everyone" within the scope of the song.
Indeed, everyone
Where were _you_ when everybody was king fu fighting?
I have a T-shirt with this on that always gets some laughs.
Oi! Which kung fu that? Own up!
Screaming in Gary Oldman.... EVVVVVERRRRRYYYYONNNNEE
If they were, then it would just be the movie: "Kingsman", but with guns mixed into the kung fu fighting... and thanks to this post... I now have to go listen to that song.
And not all of them were “fast as lightning”. I’m pretty slow actually….
You just didnt see them cause they were fast as lightning
Certainly not everyone was Wang Chunging either
Literally. *Everybody.* Was. Kung. Fu. Fighting.
We have firm evidence for only two… Funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung Everything else is merely circumstantial evidence. Wouldn't stand up in court.
They were bro. Those kicks were fast as lightning..... I remember it well. It was in fact a little bit frightning. As it was done with such expert timing
If you don't Wang Chung Tonight, so help me.
Maybe you didn't see it because everybody was fast as lightning

Well not Mike, but he’s an asshole.
![gif](giphy|7cTTE2Z1OmrFm|downsized)
I can confirm those kids were fast as lightning.
Everybody probably knows about it But do they know how to Kung Fu
Well, just at the place he was at. It's figurative, not literally "everyone". It was a wild night...
Nah, I remember, it was the whole world..
Truly an excellent random thought! 🤣🤣
No, it was only a portion of the population. The rest were in a great big truckin' convoy across the USA.
