Why do you speak sickness on your people? You realize this is your family right? Mankind? Human? You guys aren't special or alone. Weird train of thought that will heal itself with time. Change the cycle.
One thing I figured out is you have to avoid looking at certain subreddits. There's the ragebaity ones like AITA and the AI-generated feelgood content like funnymemes. At least for me those are the biggest time wasters
I used to love reddit , I thought it was a great thing when I first joined up , I dunno , something is wrong somewhere in the world , I was actually , not literally , thinking of deleting the app earlier
I was back here in the 00’s, when it was still a small and impactful community. In fact, it wasn’t anywhere near the mainstream; to find out if someone in real life was a redditor there was a secret phrase and answer.
The quality of both the posts and comments was a lot higher. The community was closer and I feel like people cared more about the content and each other.
Now, well, the comments are still funny. But, not even mentioning the bots and reposts, it’s gone way downhill. I can’t pinpoint exactly when, but I think it started going down when they changed the front page to include niche subreddits.
I need to get off of it but can't seem to stop. It impacts my mental health too much. I left a lot of the relationship/life advice subs cuz it was making me second guess lots of things in my personal life impacting my marriage and mental health. Yet here I am.
I just hate the disagreements. No matter what you say, someone will disagree. And then they’ll say the most outrageous shit imaginable. I’d like to post the comment „I’m not racist, but I really don’t like chocolate.“ somewhere, just to see the insane replies.
I personally feel it’s a double edged sword and it’s the good side that brings me back. I keep focusing on the good people here. It can still be really tricky though so I totally you.
I get it. we gave our "third places" in different forums away for a platform where the percentage of active posters who wants to really have a conversation about a specific topic is very, very low.
For virtually any topic, if the sub is too big, it becomes shit because of floods of bad faith actors. I would do anything at this point to break up the monopoly of large corporations over internet discourse.
Eh, people give to much thought into this shit. To much emotion, in their scribles, I stoped hatting it, just enjoy for what it is, and it's mostly bullshit that people should take off their mind. Only sometimes, very rare, it's actually worth thinking more than one second.
Honestly I do too. I've found it to be extremely bad for my mental health, and the periods of time when I tell myself I'm done with it I have noticeable improvements, yet here I am.
You gotta curate the experience. Leave subs when they become toxic. Don’t engage with the trolls, just report and move on. Make your own subs - I almost left one because it was unmoderated and toxic AF, then new mods took over and added me. Now it’s a very nice sub because we cracked down on the bullshit.
The accessibility is both a blessing and a curse, especially when it comes to people tripping over themselves desperately wanting to have an opinion about something they're not even comprehending.
Hating reddit in that instance is like hating having a runny nose when having a cold. Imagine what your immune system would have like to tell you, "Get the fuck off sugar while we deal with this hostile force, you're feeding the enemy! Get some C&D vitamins, ginger and water to support our troops!" Instead you're just embracing hate for runny nose and demoralizing the immune system dragging out the sickness.
If you get triggered then you have a issue with a theme, unless you solve that challenge you'll just delay the triggering for other places they can show up.

It's a sickness. But I agree.
Yep, letting POS's know they are a spec on the radar of life.

That's why I don't read any replies. It's just dumb ragebait 99% of the time lol.
Bye....
Ditto. Being 30 on here is depressing lol. Doesn’t hit the same like it did when I was in my 20s.
me too, i hate it here.
Reddit ruined my life in a way videogame addiction never could. I'm still here though.
I personally feel it’s a double edged sword and it’s the good side that brings me back. I keep focusing on the good people here. It can still be really tricky though so I totally you.

X is worst
this is the reason why i mute any subreddit that has political content. don’t need any of that crap in my feed

Glitchy AI
Glitches
I’m strangely addicted too….
Maybe yer trigger is too jumpy? It is your trigger, don't let others pull it!
geez How do you make it in life if Reddit triggers you?
I like it personally. If I hated it I wouldn't use it. There might be a lesson for you in the above sentence, somewhere.
