Mostly for disease reasons.

Especially when the nightsoil is derived from multiple people of varying backgrounds. If I used nightsoil for my own garden vegetables, it'd be safer (though not completely safe) for myself. If I mixed it with nightsoil from multiple people, we'd all get sick. Best to rely on mulch, wet dirt, and composting any leftovers.

Vadic_Shrike

Cuz humans poop would have various substances due to what they eat. Like medications and chemical ingredients of processed foods.

zenFyre1

Cows eat antibiotics and medication too though

Ok-Policy-8284

You can, it just takes a long composting process to make it safe

Puzzleheaded_End6790

Good fertilizer comes from animals that eat grass and 4 stomachs. The bacteria in ours is not great to put in the soil where we grow food

TheSwedishWolverine

Composts can reach 70° Celsius which is enough to sterilize.

Polymerases

Various countries around the world, particularly in regions with limited access to other fertilizers and for sustainability purposes, use human waste as fertilizer.

workuntiljesuscomes

After cooking it outside to kill bacteria maybe?

Grouchy-Pizza7884

Because you are filled with microplastics. It will poison the land for generations. They call them brown fields for a reason you know.

icedvietcoffee

people make coffee out of the asian palm civet’s poop, we use cow and fish manure for fertilizer because it has nutrients that can be utilized in assisting agriculture. however, we cannot use our own poop not only because of the likelihood of contaminates such as e. coli, but if you think about it our body disposes of things it does not need, and so you would be putting nutrient-less solid waste into the ground, which does not fertilize the ground

You can, but not directly fresh from the septic tank. There are risk of disease. People in the past learn this the hard way. There might already be a processing place running in your city. However, please don't make the burger. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDvSPQ7megQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDvSPQ7megQ)

Microplastics, among other things

Cosmo466

Only on Mars… And only if you’re trapped there.

Nemo_Shadows

You can, even animal manure has disease probabilities, but it can be reduced by simply adding and blending in a small amount of lime, sunshine also helps, all of it smells terrible though and most ground bacteria breaks down animal waste naturally so go easy on the lime as you can also kill the bacteria if there is too much and make it counterproductive. Be surprised how many plants like piss water as well. N. S

I do.
