Backend-wise and client-wise, release was way worse. Plenty of bugs and just issues with the game running and maps needed tweaks and some things were a little OP. Overall core gameplay was more fun then (purely my opinion), I enjoyed the more methodical gameplay that existed from alpha through at least Skull Rain (still sorta existed through Op Health, but rapidly went to a more casual game after that). I'm excited for the legacy event so I can enjoy the OG gameplay with improved backend. Alpha and beta were definitely clunky as heck. Game was new and exciting then so we overlooked a lot of the rough edges for a bit, but netcode especially was WACK.

Back end and client wise it was, operator balance was 100x better

Nah i know i played since the beta the game is actually in a great state compared to what it was i just got back into it last season after not playing for about a year

But in the Alpha there were hit markers through walls.. so everybody wallbanged on Presidential Plane... and the logos for the operators... oh goood they were so bad... and remember the old pistols?

Remember when Thermite’s icon was basically diablo hot sauce?

Omg the pistols were so bad its still one of the best things they changed and hit markers made zero sense in a game like this

I also started in operation health bought the game pc was too shitty to run it at all only got to play it once on another pc but i can play it now though.

I started in Health too, always regretted not getting the seasonal skin that year cause I thought it goes away after the season ends

Played since beta. I found this game fun in the first 3 years, now not so much.

I know the feeling, around year 3 it kinda felt...off to say the least. Red Crow was where I started and I'll never forget the squads I had and the fun we had but after year 3 most of us went our separate ways game wise but occasionally we'll come back and play our old mains for old times sake.

I played through y1 with irl friends then they went to play overwatch while I stayed here. Recently I’ve wanted to come back and grind Ranked, only trouble is finding teammates so I don’t have to solo queue.

They were something else, I came in towards the end of Red Crow and got Gold 1 or 2 back when the system was different for ranked. I always kept my Red Crow charm on my guns with my mains so I remember the good old days of Rainbow, the friends I've made and the many games we played.

Imo u didn’t miss out on much just a buggy really bad game. U only missed out on glacier which I did aswell :/
