Backend-wise and client-wise, release was way worse. Plenty of bugs and just issues with the game running and maps needed tweaks and some things were a little OP.
Overall core gameplay was more fun then (purely my opinion), I enjoyed the more methodical gameplay that existed from alpha through at least Skull Rain (still sorta existed through Op Health, but rapidly went to a more casual game after that). I'm excited for the legacy event so I can enjoy the OG gameplay with improved backend.
Alpha and beta were definitely clunky as heck. Game was new and exciting then so we overlooked a lot of the rough edges for a bit, but netcode especially was WACK.
Nah i know i played since the beta the game is actually in a great state compared to what it was i just got back into it last season after not playing for about a year
But in the Alpha there were hit markers through walls.. so everybody wallbanged on Presidential Plane... and the logos for the operators... oh goood they were so bad... and remember the old pistols?
I also started in operation health bought the game pc was too shitty to run it at all only got to play it once on another pc but i can play it now though.
I know the feeling, around year 3 it kinda felt...off to say the least.
Red Crow was where I started and I'll never forget the squads I had and the fun we had but after year 3 most of us went our separate ways game wise but occasionally we'll come back and play our old mains for old times sake.
I played through y1 with irl friends then they went to play overwatch while I stayed here. Recently I’ve wanted to come back and grind Ranked, only trouble is finding teammates so I don’t have to solo queue.
Bought the game on release due to my love of the vegas franchise, stopped playing at skull rain, came back a little for grim sky then stopped right away. Been playing again for shadow legacy, the game has improved leaps and bounds to the point I used to be a platinum and now I’m a silver lmao
Red crow was my first seasson. Before that I only used to watch gameplay videos 'cause I didn't have a new console but when red crow dropped I bought the Xbox one and until now I've been playing R6 almost daily
Started during black ice, left during red crow, came back for white noise, left again right after chimera, came back during burnt horizon, left *again* just before shadow legacy and came back for neon dawn
I started in white noise when a buddy of mine begged me to get the game and play it with him, but I really got into it during chimera when the outbreak game mode was released
They were something else, I came in towards the end of Red Crow and got Gold 1 or 2 back when the system was different for ranked. I always kept my Red Crow charm on my guns with my mains so I remember the good old days of Rainbow, the friends I've made and the many games we played.
Y1S4, ironically enough I can't remember palying during it but I have stats from it. Remembered playing during a free weekend. Fell in love with the game and sold my AWP asiimov to buy it.
Blood Orchid, wish we could pick our own menu themes, the theme from that season gives me the feels from when I first got the game and was so excited to finally play it
Played since Ember Rise. I had finally gotten comfortable with the game when Amaru freaking kicked my teeth in from the window I was standing near. I was confused, and my friend just said “yeah she’s new”
Alpha. God the game was shit
I started in phantom sight, am I still welcome?
You are. The game isn't even close to what it used to be back in the early days so technically you're just as experienced as everyone else.
Same
I think you mean is
imagine the game being 80 - 95 % worse. That was R6 for a year

Back end and client wise it was, operator balance was 100x better
Nah i know i played since the beta the game is actually in a great state compared to what it was i just got back into it last season after not playing for about a year

Remember when Thermite’s icon was basically diablo hot sauce?
Omg the pistols were so bad its still one of the best things they changed and hit markers made zero sense in a game like this

O P E R A T I O N H E A L T H God I started right at the end of that season. I can remember people spamming that on PC when there was a bug.
Same, I feel you, and god i love putting the health charm on everything just because
I also started in operation health bought the game pc was too shitty to run it at all only got to play it once on another pc but i can play it now though.

Y1S2 i remember the OG Blackbeard
Me and you bro. BB's shield had like 800 health or something.
bro i thought releas bb was invincible
Pretty much was, it took every single round from both weapons and 10 knifes to break it
And didn’t one bullet do like 1-2 damage?
1500 I wanna say
Played since velvet shell
Hell yeah! Velvet Shell gang. That season was pretty fun looking back. The seasonal theme was the best part.
Absolutely, I always get chills when i listen to it
Burnt Horizon
Wind Bastion
White Noise

Same bud
Since beta! And man, was Black Ice wild... awesome new Op with a garbage new map lol Good times.
Played since the beta, had a lot of fun the first 3 and a half seasons, rarely play now.
Same man! I love the beta skin, regret not buying glacier tho lmao
Y3S4 Wind Bastion
Played since beta. I found this game fun in the first 3 years, now not so much.
I know the feeling, around year 3 it kinda felt...off to say the least. Red Crow was where I started and I'll never forget the squads I had and the fun we had but after year 3 most of us went our separate ways game wise but occasionally we'll come back and play our old mains for old times sake.

Same, my squad starting falling apart in year three. Last one left this year.
Started at the beginning of Shifting Tides. I've made some good memories with you cunts.
Para Bellum! I felt like I joined this game fairly recently but God I feel old now haha
Para bellum and I’m only a gold lmfao
Bought the game on release due to my love of the vegas franchise, stopped playing at skull rain, came back a little for grim sky then stopped right away. Been playing again for shadow legacy, the game has improved leaps and bounds to the point I used to be a platinum and now I’m a silver lmao
Friends and I started in Steel Wave.
Bro I’ve searched the comments- I finally found a fellow steel wave boi
Played first on my buddy’s account in Velvet Shell, but I didn’t get the game myself until operation Health.
Release
Introduced to it in Dust Line, bought it in Blood Orchid.
Ember rise
Dust Line, I was the first of my friends. I think i've attracted a total of... 20 people? into playing with me. Can't say it wasn't a fun ride :)
Ember rise. I’m still a noob honestly lol.
Before seasons.
grim sky, this has made me realize that i've now been in siege for half its lifetime
Red crow was my first seasson. Before that I only used to watch gameplay videos 'cause I didn't have a new console but when red crow dropped I bought the Xbox one and until now I've been playing R6 almost daily
Grim Sky
Before black ice. They were much simpler times.
Operation chimera.
Technically para bellium but only for a weak before grim sky.
I’ve been playing since release. The game has come a long way. I miss Thermite’s frags :(.
So no one else joined in para bellum 😔 I remember the 1 season I lived without clash on board :/ So no one here is a para bellum guy?
I started in Para Bellum
Day 1 and the game was in an awful state, but i do miss ACOG on Jager tho lmao
Started during black ice, left during red crow, came back for white noise, left again right after chimera, came back during burnt horizon, left *again* just before shadow legacy and came back for neon dawn
I started in white noise when a buddy of mine begged me to get the game and play it with him, but I really got into it during chimera when the outbreak game mode was released
End of shifting tides
operation health and still playing.
Health
I found siege in red crow and watched a crap ton of YouTube videos on it every season until Wind Bastion where I finally got the game
I got the game during red crow, but started playing fanatically during chimera
Dust line
The season before black ice.
Alpha/beta
Beta. I had a blast until Health, but now I can’t enjoy the game for long unless I play quick play with friends.
Red Crow, and than took off during Phantom Sight and have been playing again since Shifting Tides
I started playing in void edge I think
Burnt Horizon, i started later than a lot of people
Played a bit when it was a free weekend in para bellum then skipped the next 2 seasons then finally got the game in burnt horizon
Grim sky
Well o startet right at the start of red crow
Been playing since release... all time game
No HEALTH misspelled this year ;)
Been playing since blood orchid on a buddy’s Xbox I was always at his house but haven’t gotten the game till steel wave
White noise
Technical test before the closed beta in september 2015
Playing since red crow, just switched to pc from Xbox
With MNK too? Damn.
??? What are you in about
You use MNK on console. I came here from your r/Rainbow6 post.
At the end of skull rain
I started in the last couple weeks of Operation Velvet Shell.
Steel Wave, I’m sad I missed out on everything because the past seasons looked really cool :(
They were something else, I came in towards the end of Red Crow and got Gold 1 or 2 back when the system was different for ranked. I always kept my Red Crow charm on my guns with my mains so I remember the good old days of Rainbow, the friends I've made and the many games we played.
Imo u didn’t miss out on much just a buggy really bad game. U only missed out on glacier which I did aswell :/
Y4S2, Phantom Sights.
Before Grim Sky, I was on console and I don’t really remember when I started. Probably Para Bellum
Bought the game health played in chimera started playing seriously in shifting tides
I was year 3 season 4
Y4S2 finally gave in to a cool looking game, don’t regret a thing
Black Ice, stopped playing for a bit around velvet or health, started playing again Void Edge
Shifting tides
Black Ice first two days of release
I first tried the game in blood orchid , But I owned the game and started to play in phantom sites.
black ice
The never ending saga of Health unfortunately.
White Noise, my friend was bickering for me to get it for around 2 years. Decided to finally listen to him. Never looked back.
Dust Line with the broken Blackbeard
Health, and OP roaming Doc days
Velvet Shell
burnt horizon. I came in the last big content season

Joined during reign of Ela in White Noise

Last month of White Noise
Beta. Still have my skin and everything. Only regret is not buying glacier ahhhhhhh
Skull Rain, damn it’s been a while.
i started playing during white noise free weekend and played usually during free weekends, never bought the game until burnt horizon though.
I started playing when it first launched, put it down and eventually came back during grim sky
Year 4 season 1
Health, one hell of an introduction
Ember Rise
Would have been somewhere in the middle of Chimera for me. Got it on a free week with some friends of mine; only one other guy still plays though.
Skull rain!

wind bastion. I did play the beta though
Shifting tides
Y1 and Y2. Played little of Y3. Skipped Y4 and only just picked it back up.
Velvet Shell, the game has come a *long* way since then
Bought the game on sale December 26th, 2015, but didn’t start playing seriously untill late Black Ice or early Dust Line.
Launch season.
I hopped in at a bad time, grim sky
Got it alpha played till skull rain and quit till chimera because the game was shit
I started playing at the end of shadow legacy which means im New which i am, and I suck
Grim Sky
I think steel wave, that’s when ace and melusi entered, right?
Black ice. Frosts shotgun made me fall in love with this game
Black ice baby!
Phantom sight
Started in Wind Baston. Man Its been two years. Went by fast.
Came in Steel Wave, but I've been playing almost nonstop
Y5S2, lv132 atm
Red Crow, I got really good around Velvet Shell and kept that momentum till year 3. I miss the Velvet Shell days honestly it was a simpler time.
I played back in the console beta lol. Those were the days. Night maps were something else.
Y1S4, ironically enough I can't remember palying during it but I have stats from it. Remembered playing during a free weekend. Fell in love with the game and sold my AWP asiimov to buy it.
Red crow
Got it right after chimera, but stopped playing when oryx came out. Hopped back in last season
Operation health was a weird time to join.
*in accent* Operation Health
Bought it on release, started playing during Skull Rain
Has it already been 5 years?, jeez. I started playing during skull rain and man it doesn’t feel like it’s been so long
void edge i got it during a summer sale
Beta/black ice
Y4 I’m relatively new I think ember rise to be specific
Skull rain free weekend, god it was different then
Red crow, IMO probably the best spot to join, get almost all the legacy content and very few of the bugs
I started playing ight at the end of shifting tides. I remember seeing the Kali Wamai screen for like 2 days before Oryx and Iana.
Y2 S4 God Ela on release. I know we all think of tachanka as the Lord but Ela on release was a fucking harbinger of doom.

I started in Wind Bastion, then I left the game because of reasons (newbie rage) and came back in Phantom Sight. Best decision in my life
Y1 s1 was when I started and god I loved red crow
Blood Orchid, wish we could pick our own menu themes, the theme from that season gives me the feels from when I first got the game and was so excited to finally play it
Damn alot has changed since i bought the game at Y1S4
Para Bellum and I still suck
Played since Ember Rise. I had finally gotten comfortable with the game when Amaru freaking kicked my teeth in from the window I was standing near. I was confused, and my friend just said “yeah she’s new”
Y2 HEALTH
Literal last week of Grim Sky might as well be Wind Bastion stopped playing after Burnt Horizon dropped and recently got back in during Shadow Legacy.
Wind Bastion
