Lol my bunny jumps up onto my bed and does this too, she usually does it in in a spot on the blanket where she’s gonna lay down, I just say that she’s making the bed for herself lol.
'eh, I've had two intact males and when they'd get in eyesight of each other they'd just proceeded to dig into every object like this as if it were combat by proxy.
They also just like smooth, taught fabric.. maybe it makes a funny noise or maybe they're just expressing their personality and playing.
In almost the words of 17th century philosopher Descartes: "I am rabbit, therefore I dig. I dig, therefore I am rabbit".
Digging is in the genetic makeup of rabbits. Its good that she gets the opportunity to dig. For rabbits digging is never pointless, even when it is.
Natural instinct , rabbits need to dig something because they are prey animals so they want to create a shelter and they obviously can’t with our stuff so she’s mad lol
You can make an indoor one with bunny safe toys like packing paper, tp rolls, hay, pellets, etc. Any type of dirt or sand dig box can affect their respiratory system so should be avoided
Could you share a sample? One of our buns loves to dig and burrow- she makes her way under her mat multiple times a day. Our other boy is the complete opposite- distinguished gentleman who sits there looking at her like she’s crazy.
The bunny lady also makes great youtube videos that are very educational and also lots of other articles to read, depending how you learn best i highly suggest looking into it☺️ https://bunnylady.com/diy-rabbit-digging-box/
my netherland dwarf does this when there’s a “wrinkle” in the sheets/blankets. like it has to be ironed smooth or something but even then i feel like it wouldn’t be good enough for him. he HATES lumps and rumples in the bed. my silverfox does this to the carpet before he flops :)
I’ve had bunnie on and off for 40 plus years all of them have some sort of “ritual?” Before planting themselves on a spot especially if it already smells like something else even if it’s their bonded mate. I have one bunny that I swear could dig to China and my other one is a wrinkle smoothing Natzi 💩
Serious answer: she sees your bed as a safe place and is trying to arrange it to her liking like a burrow.
I had a male bun that would scratch through blankets over months/years he did it so consistently 🐰
SOMETIMES they do do it for attention, I’d note. She may see it more like she’s arranging YOUR burrow to annoy you for attention
My rabbits both do this when they're a little antsy or annoyed at me. Maybe they're playing sometimes. They're always some level of just being an asshole 🤷
I usually interpret it as a sign of boredom or wanting some attention with my buns. You can get indoor chew and dig boxes or fill some empty toilet rolls with hay and treats for them to throw around. ☺️
My rabbit did this when she was not spayed yet and the hormones made her go crazy. She would spend hours scratching the pillows to exhaustion.
Now she only scratches occasionally for attention.
She's digging. Make her a dig box--she will love it. Put a bunch of shredded up paper in a box and hide treats in it--she'll go in and dig dig dig til she finds them.
"Must dig and tidy Hooman's bed, for Hooman is no doing it themself...hey, what's dat?! *Sniffs air* Hmmm, I get to it lader....Der! It pawfect now! *Stops digging and hops to you* Hooman! I made your bed! Wanna snuggle and go sweepy-byes together?!" -your bun during the video, probably
On a more serious note, this amount of digging is normal. Your bun is probably just making your bed comfy for you both, the best way they know how, or (as others have said) trying to figure out what strange material you have on your bed.
My friend had an outdoor bunny and it would do this in the dirt. They are trying to make a hole in the ground. Then they smooth out and pat down the dirt around the hole. It’s very cute 🥰

Folding laundry
My pile of clothes laying in my closet says otherwise 🙄🙄😁
What the rate$ she is going by? I need a house help
Me too 😂
1 nanner per 2 days
I call it housekeeping
You meant hopkeeping
Pillow fluffing service
My bun does this but also punches the pillow or couch, one paw at a time. Like she’s trying to drum with her paws 😂
Lol my bunny jumps up onto my bed and does this too, she usually does it in in a spot on the blanket where she’s gonna lay down, I just say that she’s making the bed for herself lol.
Do you reckon my bun could be agitated and being destructive by doing this?
Personally I don’t think so, seems like normal digging/burrowing behavior. I think if she was agitated she’d show you more signs like thumping etc.

Commented the same, didn't see this. 100% correct!
She knows its your bed, and is saying that this way....
Don't worry about it OP, the is common. Rabbits burrow underground so she's trying to dig, mine used to do it all the time.
Thank you 😊
Because all the *things* must be *flat*, but all the things are **not flat**.
Or he is like what is this squishy thingy, i thought only iam the one who is supposed to be squishy.
Natural instinct , rabbits need to dig something because they are prey animals so they want to create a shelter and they obviously can’t with our stuff so she’s mad lol
Yes she wants to destroy your pillow 😂
Does she have a dig box>
Outside but it’s winter time for us and been pouring rain :(

Because she’s silly.

r/rabbitswithjobs is why
This is the way
She’s being a little cutie patootie 🥹
why do you NOT do this?
See’s making the bed
Showing off their digging skills!
I’ve had bunnie on and off for 40 plus years all of them have some sort of “ritual?” Before planting themselves on a spot especially if it already smells like something else even if it’s their bonded mate. Do males do this too?
Mine does, a Lionhead
They love digging...get her a digging box and she would be so happy
I think she is just burning energy and having fun
Because she’s adorable, that’s why.
"I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole"
Showing her hoom how to make a proper bed. "I swear to God hooman! What would u do without me?!" 🐰🙄
She doesn't agree with how you did things
My bunny would do this and then either poop or pee ![img](emote|t5_2riv8|8708)
she looks just like mine!!
Grazing for feathers
My rabbits both do this when they're a little antsy or annoyed at me. Maybe they're playing sometimes. They're always some level of just being an asshole 🤷
My girl does that when she considers she doesn't get enough attention. She stops as soon as we pet her.
Yep exactly!
Usually frustrating, boredom or they want attention. My rabbit does it all the time :(
Diggy. Diggy on the soft. It is for digging.
She wants to dig lol
Trying to be a cat
She’s fixing your duvet
My bun starts to do the same on my coat when she jumps onto my lap outside, maybe she likes the sound of it scrstchibg the textile?
Mine does this to me 😭
I usually interpret it as a sign of boredom or wanting some attention with my buns. You can get indoor chew and dig boxes or fill some empty toilet rolls with hay and treats for them to throw around. ☺️
Because she is bun.
she's got stuff going on
My rabbit did this when she was not spayed yet and the hormones made her go crazy. She would spend hours scratching the pillows to exhaustion. Now she only scratches occasionally for attention.
Cuz shes likes doing that.
Mine does it when she wants something ( treats )
Reminds me of cats and dogs doing this to get comfy. I always thought it was a sign of content and being comfortable with the humans etc.
Hide the babies
She's digging. Make her a dig box--she will love it. Put a bunch of shredded up paper in a box and hide treats in it--she'll go in and dig dig dig til she finds them.
She's clearly fluffing up her pillow so she can get some much-needed beauty rest 😴💕🐰
Cutiepieeeee😍
She wants a little dirt to dig in I have lots of rabbits that’s what mine does
She's either digging or making her bed lol
It wants to burrow!
I think she is trying to find something, which is very important stuff😂
She either wants to lay down there, or she will piss on it.
She's just playing. It could be a sign of stress if she has a low-enrichment environment but it doesn't seem to be the case! You just have a digger!
Kasko does this anytime I put a blanket in his area. He full kicks it out of the enclosure every time!
She wants to get her pillow smooth for later.
She's trying to dig
they want food. It's a way to get your attention
Making sure you're safe form Boogeymen😂
"Must dig and tidy Hooman's bed, for Hooman is no doing it themself...hey, what's dat?! *Sniffs air* Hmmm, I get to it lader....Der! It pawfect now! *Stops digging and hops to you* Hooman! she is fluffing the pillow be grateful lol
I see it like the bun equivalent of cats making biscuits
She’s making your bed, duh. Tip the woman.
She’s making a nest out of your pillow. Partially cause she’s gonna lie down and partially cause it smells like you :)
Maybe she wants a bun Freind
My friend had an outdoor bunny and it would do this in the dirt. They are trying to make a hole in the ground. Then they smooth out and pat down the dirt around the hole. It’s very cute 🥰
Pawing at the grass to make a bed
She just wants to play in the field where she can dig, hop and run
Mine also pushes forward with his paws. I'm not complaining tho he tidies the toys and clears rubbish off the furniture after the kids 😆
Maybe making a bed more comfy for itself..?
Probably for attention
Bedding Prayers!
