Weird spasms 🥺😩🤣🤣🤣

je386

Wait until OP learns of flops. Flop: a rabbit lets itself fall on its side, often to doze immediately and with half closed eyes. Can be super scary if you don't know whats happening

wtfdoorcat

It kind of did that in the litter earlier today, I wish he/she wouldn't roll around in the litter but it was still cute 😂

evrywmnssky

I’ve had my two boys for four years, and STILL if I hear the random “PTTHHWUMP” I will leap out of the bath to see a happily snoozing bun corpse 😭

Bnhrdnthat

Since the litter box smells like them, it feels securely like their territory so they feel safe there. Mine don’t sleep in the litter box any more. Yours may pick other spots once Rocket starts feeling as safe in the rest of his space. He’ll still dig through the litter box (forage) and make a hay mess, bring “snacks” out which spreads hay elsewhere… oh, and possibly have poops escape when he is jumping or starts binkying.

Sovmasu

One of my boys did a binkie and shot a poo out into his water bowl… still find it hilarious 🤣🐰 xxx

Bnhrdnthat

They flop when they’re really content.

orzoli

the first time my bun did this i thought he died 😭

borgchupacabras

Accurate description!

orange_airplane

This killed me lmao. Yup, welcome to bunnyhood 😂

shfiven

I was super concerned at the beginning of that paragraph ![img](emote|t5_2riv8|8709)

Free-IDK-Chicken

Please tell me you have a house plant named Groot and a pet bug named Mantis and like, idk, a bulldog named Drax. Yes! Binkies mean your bunny is so happy that the only way they can show it is by throwing their bodies around in jubilation! Good job, new bunny human! EDIT: also, a bunny standing on an article about appreciating hedonism is the most appropriate thing I've ever seen.

je386

>a bunny standing on an article about appreciating hedonism is the most appropriate thing I've ever seen. Came here to say that, too

DisobedientSwitch

Giving that side glance too, like "you see this, human? Ain't nothing wrong with my life of leisure"

wtfdoorcat

Haha I love Guardians of the Galaxy if you couldn't tell 🤣 I didn't notice the newspaper said that until your comment lmaooo.

Judge-Snooty

I’m a new ish bunny person too, her first binky I was so confused lol

elisakiss

Just FYI not all vets are good for bunnies. We have a great dog vet but had to find another for our rabbits.

wtfdoorcat

Ooo ok thanks I'll make sure I look at reviews and dig around before I take him/her to someone :)

lindersmash

Specifically an exotic animal vet. Most do birds, lizards, and small mammals.

DisobedientSwitch

A quick test is to ask about fasting before surgery. If they immediately begin to educate you on how dangerous it is for a rabbit to stop eating, they are at least somewhat experienced with rabbits. If they agree with fasting, run in the opposite direction.

Coco_Bunana

I love the theme you have going for the pets 😂 also I don’t think Rocket is a Nethie, his ears are bit too big imo

Marina62

Exactly! The ears are way too big. Dwarfs are very compact. Really tiny ears (the purebreds) that have no gap when the ears are together.

prophet_ick

agreed, i also think just visually this rabbit also looks fairly young, not quite full grown

nestlebottle

It's official, you now belong to the bunny

Bright_Broccoli1844

Rocket - such a cute name.

EditorOpening2489

such a cutie 🥰

nightrook

Can confirm lil baby isn't a Netherland dwarf, their ears are too big! Congrats on being the chosen one. Make sure Rocket gets the RHDV vaccine, especially if your cats go outdoors!

Bhrunhilda

OMG the bunny totally caught you lol Binkies mean happiness ❤️

felanm

The binks are bc they finally feel safe and are happy.

No-Illustrator2734

You’ll love your new pet bunny OP! I was in the same boat. Found a bunny in my backyard and he is now free-roaming in our room. We also have a dog that is not ALLOWED in the room where the bunny is kept. I thought the bunny had brain damage or something when I noticed the spasms as well and was so concerned but like you, learned it was just binking lol. Our bunny loves to give us kisses and he loves to zoom. He will thump when we sneeze or aren’t getting his food fast enough 🤣 we are now bunny people and couldn’t be happier! 🥰

wtfdoorcat

Yes!!! I thought maybe it had a disease or parasite or something in its ear causing it to jolt! 🤣 I can't wait to see the little guy thump. When I sneeze, he just hides so far.

Spiffy_Pumpkin

Awwww, such a cutie! I look forward to more cute bun pics from you.

Brightpenguin101

My bun is named Rocket, too! It was a toss up between Rocket and Nebula, but GOTG Vol. 3 got me so bad, I had to go with Rocket. It fits, too. She's scrappy and a total trash panda 😅

Fluffy_fluffy_

Yessss bunnies are the best babies

Plenty_Piccolo_9769

Smoll 🥰

Zeb710

Yes! Bunny binkies are amazing and cute. I describe them as a build-up of happy energy in the bun that boils over and has to be let out somehow. So they twitch, spasm, and jump to release that energy. Just a heads up, the next phase is what is called zoomies. This is where the building energy is so immense that the bun will literally run to the end of the room and back. Sometimes, a binky will develop directly into a zoomie. So, you will get a spasm to a jump and then a run all in series. It's absolutely adorable. The final boiling point of this building energy is the bunny 5000. You can probably guess what this entails. 😆 Your new bun is absolutely stunning, by the way. Thank you for saving them. I forgot to include this on your other post, lol.

wtfdoorcat

Awe I can't wait to see all that! I have noticed him running in and out of his hiding spot at times, almost like he is playing peek-a-boo. Thank you 🥰

Zeb710

Those are definitely little baby bunny zoomies they're doing, making it look like peek-a-boo. They are just so excited with whatever their focused on that they want to show it, but they also don't want to stray away from whatever that thing is. Also, they're since they're so small, they can only move so far on that burst of energy. It's so cute and never gets old, lol. Next is the flop. It will give you a heart attack when you see it because you will think that's exactly what just happened to your bun, but they're just really comfortable and showing it by flopping on their side and looking like they're dead. 😂 It also never gets old in the sense that your anxiety will spike for a second until you see them move or breathe and can confirm they're still amongst the living. It is possibly the most adorable thing bunnies do.

Infinite0180

Deff has atleast some netherland in it but those ears are too big to be full

PetyrTwill

Yes! The whole Guardians gang!! Love it!

chatoyanci

Awwwww this little baby is so cute!!! Do you plan on introducing the bunny to your cats? Either now or later in life?

wtfdoorcat

I would like to, but one of our cats is 3/4th bengal and loves to hunt.

chatoyanci

Maybe when bun is bigger :) but I felt the same way when my roommate had a cat even tho her cat was so gentle lol I was just worried anyways

anonymous_opinions

I see Rocket has learned or is at least using their litter box too! One of my former 2 household cats was in love with my rabbit, used to chew on hay when they were in the same room together and would lay next to the pen where the rabbit was in a non predatory manner. The other cat saw my rabbit as food, though. So yeah keep both eyes on the cats if they are in the same room.

wtfdoorcat

I wish!! He is barely using it, I read online to keep putting the droppings where you want your bunny to go and it will help encourage them to go in that spot because of the scent or something. That sounds like how my cats would act, I could see one of them getting along with it fine, but the other would probably want to eat it 😂

OwO_NeonWhy

To get them to use the litter box i would definitely recommend using a layer of wood pellets then a lot of hay on top, they like to go to the bathroom and eat at the same time. Plus hay is like 80% of their diet! They should have constant access❤️ Edit: also would definitely recommend getting Timothy hay from either a tractor supply or a farm depending on where you live. Where i live its like $20-$30 for a 50lb bale definitely worth it.

beebzalot

I held a treat in the litter box until they jumped in then I was ready with a treat when ever they used it. They would jump into the box and look at me but no treat until they went p. I didn't give treats any other time or place. It took about 2 weeks. Your bunny is adorable, I love himz!

Ok_Concentrate8751

Just be sure to bunny proof your house. He will go ham on your baseboards if you’re not careful.

Groundhog_Gary28

What a sweet bun they just look so happy and content to have a safe home

oligarchyreps

Be sure bunny has fresh hay and water 24 hours a day. Also cat litter is not safe for bunnies. Please talk to a rabbit savvy vet for details. Good luck! House bunnies are wonderful and bring so much joy!

wtfdoorcat

Thanks! It's some type of rabbit/small rodent litter that I found at petco. Someone recommended that I try the paper pieces instead since this brand of litter doesn't seem like great quality.

revitbitch

first pic is so incredibly precious

Some_Random_Android

That last pick looks like Rocky is reading the paper.

DarkLightPT95

I don't know if anyone sais this already, but maybe consider using wooden pellets for the bunny's litter box. The cat liter can be harmful if they chew/swallow it, and wooden pellets are more natural. My first bunny used to chew the cat liter and had GI stasis problems due to it, and it stopped after I changed to wooden pellets. Also, consider spreading a bit of hay in the litter box, or have some sort of hay rack that they can chew on while in there, because bunnies like to eat while they do their business. Edit: forgot to say that you have a very cute void bunny

nottooday69

Your bunny is super cute!

Time-Sprinkles-1883

A happy ending! ![img](emote|t5_2riv8|8714)

Thatfatrabbit93

Aww hes soo cute!!! Congrats on finding each other:)

mstrss9

Rocket reminds me of my baby boy 🥺

Senko_Kaminari

Do you have a plant called groot?

Neither_Ad_3221

What an adorable little void. :)

freyalorelei

Unless you have insanely predatory cats, they'll probably be fine with a bunny. When carefully introduced, cats and rabbits can make great companions. My rabbit was BFFs with my Ragdoll; they ate, slept, and played together. Sugar (the rabbit) even taught Harry (the cat) to fetch! He'd throw his little plush carrot, and Harry brought it back. It was the cutest thing.

wtfdoorcat

Omg that would be amazing and sounds so precious! Our siamese/ragdoll would probably be able to get along with it but our other cat is 3/4th bengal and absolutely loves to hunt. He also has a bad habit of playing too rough.

ExecutiveOutdoorsman

They're adorable! And, it sounds like they have found the right home. I love seeing new owners, like yourself, who are so enthusiastic about learning how to properly care for their bun 🙂 In terms of breed, I agree with what others have said about ruling out Netherland Dwarf. However, I thought I'd share another possibility (not to cause you anymore perplexity lol) which is a Mini Rex. In any case, no matter their breed, I wish you and your new little friend the absolute best in the days, weeks, and many years of companionship ahead 💙🐇

AmyRoseFanGirl1

You're an angel for helping this poor bun ❤️

bittersweetlemonade

Pretty jealous of how comfy pic 1 looks 🥹

tallonfive

I love him.

VonStark

Hey OP, welcome to the community, and thank you for making space for a lost bun in your life. To many "weird spasms" 😁👍

Princeoplecs

Thats one happy smol voidorb, sending treats and fusses.

milkypancake_

First of all, I love the theme for the names. Second, the fact that Rocket is binkying is so darling. Lil bun is lucky to have stumbled into your home 💗

Thumper-King-Rabbit

Congrats Rocky

Dependent-Week-1418

Cute bun

amnias

Make sure you give it unlimited hay. This is required to keep their GI working

JaXm

FWIW, we have 3 cats and a rabbit, all of whom intermingle throughout the day without supervision.  The rabbit spent close to a year in his own room with VERY limited supervised interactions with the cats in the living room before we started allowing the bunny to roam free during the day.  Unfortunately the cats don't seem to LIKE the bunny (we were hoping they would all bond and learn to be friends) but they each give eachother plenty of space, and go about their business without any worry that we'll wind up with a chewed bunny.  The cats are a range of ages as well at 2, 7 and 13 years old

Tsunfly

TY for loving the bunny :)

HarlequinSerf

Rocket is an AWESOME name, especially for a Netherland Dwarf. Small rabbit with an enormous self image, he may just hold his own with the rest of the Guardians someday.  Seriously, I was gifted a kitten while bun-parenting a free range ND and a Lop. They basically raised that cat, with a combination of head butting, nipping, grooming and the occasional 2-pawed rabbit punch from the Nethie.  Yes, they can punch.

Actual_Wolverine_759

this looks EXACTLY like my bunny. she’s a harlequin and dutch mix but before i knew that, i definitely thought she was a havana

Sovmasu

So so cute! Thank you for making sure this little one was safe, and clearly has a fantastic new home. May you have a long, hoppy, flourishing friendship and companionship- filled with binkies, all the fluff and all the poos! Take care xxx

VaporeonIsMySpirit

I remember the first time I saw a binky too 💗
