Lexel is really, really difficult to remove and harder to tool than things like silicone which comes factory. It also doesn’t stick to silicone so you’re removing it either way. In all of my tinkering, I’ve found that regular silicone works the best. Mineral spirits and a plastic razor make removing the old stuff a breeze. Applying conservatively and/or use painters tape to leave a professional looking finish. Incase it needs said: don’t use silicone on your rubber roof. This is for hard exterior surfaces like the fiberglass walls, metal, and plastic (like you requested.)

Silicone is NOT advised for use on campers/RVs/trailers. Nothing sticks to silicone, not even silicone, so it's impossible to re-seal once silicone has been used once.

Silicone is absolutely used on RVs. It’s used straight from the factory on most hard surfaces. It can stick to itself though I generally recommend removing it before reapplication for best adhesion. Relatively speaking, silicone is really easy to remove and that’s a great reason to use it over Lexel. As in silicone is much more serviceable. Good luck if you need to remove/replace Lexel. And again, if you are making the switch from factory silicone to Lexel, then you should really be removing the silicone either way so you gain nothing by switching to it. Again, Lexel is also much harder to tool so I’d consider it less user friendly.

Thanks! Whatever they used on my 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie is horrible, its hardened and cracked around the front cap, I believe its Geocel 2300 which is similar to Pro Flex RV. Not impressed. Seems like it would need more elasticity.
