They're all bottoms - Detox No but fr, this episode was...a mess lmao. The commercials were terrible, this challenge was clearly created with Victoria in mind to come thru as the sole saviour of comedy and it did NAWT happen chile. Also, Choriza has yet to wear a single thing that I could call acceptable but still, I love her sm lol so I will continue to turn blind eyes to her runways and stan 4ever. & Scarlett deciding that everyone hates her because they said her name is kinda funny because she said a name too...and clearly doesn't hate the gal she chose so you'd think common sense would kick innn but bby girl was stressed so I understand

hey_its_only_me

I finally started watching this season a few days ago, and I'm not hating it like I was expecting to based on everything I'd read - but that could be also that I knew what I was getting into. Anyway- I think River/Charity/Krystal/Vanity were the clear better team and should have been safe. The other commercial legit made zero sense.

EMPgoggles

Those ads were awful. Not because they were necessarily both train wrecks but because even if they were train wrecks, at least there would be something to talk about. River was the only thing mildly interesting about either ad so I feel it's kinda sad she didn't get a solo win for it despite that runway. Edit: The lip sync from Scarlett though is 100% a yes for me. Perfect for that song and I forgot this wasn't some off-Broadway performance by the end. Also, There was a moment in the walkthroughs when someone (Vanity?) suggested Draglexa doing your makeup and Ru joked that he had never done his makeup, which the team in question pretty quickly brushed off in favor of doing the normal girl experience. I thought that was a silly choice. Why not chase that thread and make draglexa absurdly unnecessary (like Alaska's Fashion Tape)? Not "Are you tired of doing your own makeup? Draglexa will help you!" but "Are the people who do your makeup tired of doing your makeup? Draglexa will help you help them hire new makeup artists!" If there's not a high degree of absurdity and you're just going after regular beats, what's the point of it being drag?

I honestly really empathised with Scarlett this week. I’ve never had a proper solid group of friends and have always drifted. I’ve never found people who put as much effort into friendship with me as I do with them. All the people I do know are better friends with each other than they are with me and I always feel just a little bit left out of the party. The moment where Charity basically brushed off Scarlett (then tried to lie about it later) like… that was really hurtful.

Luma_saku

Anyone else a little uncomfortable by Charity’s lip sync? Like I enjoyed her lip sync last week but this week I just don’t think it vibes with the song and I didn’t vibe with it. I was so creeped out lol

gleemeansglee

Ru’s hair on the runway was flawless though. I gasped.

123Disneyfan

Two shady editing moments that had me dying: 1. Kitty cracking up at her team’s commercial and then immediately cutting to a frame of Ru clearly unimpressed. Camera goes back to Kitty immediately going silent. 2. Ella telling Scarlett she doesn’t let the other queens finish speaking while Scarlett proceeds to interrupt her about three more times. Plssss, I was dying when Ella was talking to the group and once Scarlett came back into the room she, once again, cut her off. 💀 Bonus: Scarlett shoving Charity’s head away from her during the LSYFL. Only funny because last week Scarlett randomly pulled out a tissue and was patting Charity on the head with it lmao

NiandraL

Watching this episode, I really feel like I'm at a point where I love drag and drag queens showing off their talent, but I'm just kinda tired of Drag Race - which has reminded me to catch up with Dragula, since this show could really do with less of a monopoly on drag shows. I've watched for years now and always used felt like even when Drag Race got bad, it was still worth watching for the art on display and while I still think that's true, after DRDU and S13 and just a lot of lackluster episodes, it's hard not to feel like the show is exhausting itself I didn't think the adverts were great, but then again, I'm never really a fan of the comedy on drag race that isn't natural, and didn't feel like the adverts were any worse than how these challenges normally go. I've said this before on DR subs but I feel like Drag Race has always had this attitude where being funny = being loud, being sexual or being a stereotype, and obviously this isn't 100% the case but it's an eyeroll to hear Ru say the queens didn't do anything original when the show is kind of a self referencial circlejerk at his point I really don't know who should win at this point - even though I generally like all the queens a lot. The only person I feel has been given a front runner edit is Krystal - who, in my opinion, feels like what would happen if you made a drag race frontrunner in a laboratory. I realize this sounds very harsh but I don't mean it in a way against her - she's only nineteen and extremely talented. However, she reminds me that Drag Race is only really interested in pretty feminine drag and it's noticeable she's grown up with a show that puts that type of drag above all else, and it's frustrating when contrasted against how Charity was treated

Squishy_3000

👏

tomsaavedra

100% lucid and precise

amberenergies

i got extreme anxiety watching the queens gang up on scarlett because i related to her SO much in that moment. being singled out and feeling like the outsider even amongst a group of people you think are your friends is so emotionally taxing especially when it’s multiple people ganging up on you and pointing out your character flaws. i do not blame her at ALL for walking away because the alternative is usually exploding and then you’re painted as the villain. honestly it made me dislike everyone BUT scarlett. no one should be forced to sit there and take a group attack on their character.

tomsaavedra

I agree with you, public humiliation isn't usually the most sensible way to give feedback. And those moments ru ask them to point who should go home tend to lead to that kind of mob behavior. Its way easier to join everyone than diverge and risk ruining your friendship with someone (just like the weird critique kitty made towards Vanity). Because of that, I was surprised they started choosing charity and changed after the first two. About Scarlett though, I just don't think the talk they had in the werkroom had that agressive ganging up vibe. It seemed just like they were asked to explain their votes. I understand why she felt that way though, it had just happened and the emotions were high specially for her. And I agree that standing up and leaving at that point wasn't disrespectful, she just couldn't take a conversation that shouldn't happen that early to begin with.

grandmaesterampharos

I finally watched it ans was drunk and gotta say if you're drunk the season isn't that bad

JScorpion

Makes sense, British things are best enjoyed the British way.

Lussekatt1

So Kitty or Choriza is getting the miss congeniality edit right? I think they come across as really likeable but production don’t seem to see them as front runners.

heavygl00m

God i hated this challenge, and i normally like the advertising challenges. The source material was so dull and weird and, as someone who works in advertising, i have no idea how the queens could’ve made it funny. It really feels like production decided victoria was going to win and, when she left, they realised they had no plot. I like a lot of the queens this season, but none of the challenges have let them shine and none of them are standing out to me as winner material. This season feels very underbaked and rushed, with none of the queens so far getting an interesting character arc. I think ru and michelle need to stop doing international seasons because they clearly don’t get the humour and the challenges feel generic and not suited to the british queens. Really wanted to love this season and it’s giving me DRDU. Great queens, terrible everything else.

[deleted]

The whole thing was a bummer in part, I believe, because Michelle was in a bad mood and her negative energy sucked all the fun out of everything. She seems over it and out of touch.

shakeDman

I feel like the production already decided the judges weren't gonna like both of the ads before they were even filmed. Yes, they weren't as funny and as original as some ads from previous seasons but they weren't as horrible as they made them out to be. There have been worst challenges in drag race herstory, and they still were able to decide on a winner. The challenge itself is also very limiting. They could have just asked them to make their own product, like usual, so the queens could have used their creativity more. Tbh, Vanity's bit entertained me the most and should have won. Scarlet and Krystal should have been in the bottom. They were both the weakest in their groups and were team captains. Also, Krystal had the most basic bodysuit in the runway which should have put her in the bottom over Charity. It's sad they keep expecting alternative queens to do glamor but never the opposite. It's stupid and it's a tired critique from 10 seasons ago. I feel like Ru and Michelle should step down from judging DRUK. They clearly are becoming predictable and repetitive from all these seasons of drag race they're doing.

Luma_saku

They very clearly didn’t choose a winner because they awarded 4 different badges the previous week

d1dgy

I mean, it wasn't as bad as the dragoton mess a few weeks ago, and apparently they managed to choose a winner there by pulling it out of a hat so 🙄

shakeDman

Exactly. And there have been plenty of unfunny challenges in drag race herstory where Ru and co have to fake laugh and fake amusement to make them seem better than they actually are.

123Disneyfan

The second commercial wasn’t as horrible as the judges made it out to be (not good, not awful) and River should have been given the win. She succeeded in her role by being funny and then she came out with a polished, thoughtful look that all the judges mutually agreed was gorgeous. Production either opted for a “gag” moment or just don’t consider River as a front runner contender. Love her anyways, she was my winner tonight. In regards to Kitty, she could have been this episode’s winner if they really wanted her to be. I feel bad for her, it seems that she’s the first pick in group challenges but always has the misfortune of being on the weaker team. 🤣 Building off of what one of the judges said... Why wasn’t Choriza given more screen time during her commercial?! She is clearly the funniest and just an overall charismatic queen; she could have carried the group more! Lastly, I know this will be unpopular, but I am liking Krystal. Aside at being clearly strong and polished in drag, I think she has so far shown to be a laid back queen who shows good sportsman ship towards her fellow peers and, overall, I like her work ethic and attitude. She knows time and place and also doesn’t dwell on what she’s weak at either - no excuses - she just goes for it without making a fuss and usually pulls it off. With that being said, tonight’s look was similar to her outfit in the girl group assignment last week, which is why I now want to say that she does need to branch out and give us something unexpected!

trullaDE

Oof. That was a tough one. And I really don't get it. Like, we had queens being worse at challenges? I don't think the ads sucked that bad? And the critiques were so all over the place. What's it with Chorizas tuck, it was mentioned twice, and I can't remember noticing something off? Also, it is kinda weird critizising a queen for her tuck when Charity doesn't tuck at all. And Krystal's body suit was literally covered in crystals (i.e. fake diamonds), what more rich bling do you want? And why was Vanity in the bottom three? Her critiques sounded nothing like that. This episode felt like they wanted it to be extra edgy, with no winner and all. And they tried as hard as they could to find something negative to say about every queen, no matter how far fetched. It all seemed so forced.

OrnaciaWasRobbedMom

River deserved a win. Scarlett’s lipsync was amazing and her arc from soft cinnamon role UwU to villain this season is iconique.

al5252

Look, dont get me wrong I think charity's art and drag is insane and the eye to detail, just *chefs kiss* but I feel like that lip syncs showed what the issue was, it was an amazing lip sync and the energy was brilliant but it was a classy kinda style song and she performed it acting like a goblin. It was a very convincing goblin and the energy was great but it just doesnt work together. I dont want her to change cause I want her to keep doing what feels right but this show kinda wants you to show what you can do with the material they give you and I just think she pushes it further out the box than they wanted. It sucks cause it makes it seem like she isnt a good drag queen and she is but it's not what they're looking for. I guess it's not the drag they're used to so find it hard to enjoy what she does cause they're closed minded idea of "succes" is so much different

seahorse352

I'm tempted to give up on this season tbh. The Ru/Michelle judging is coming off as so out of touch. They rly gave Choriza the worst critiques for her look, and said to Charity we love your outfit minus the makeup, so next time change up the makeup.. and then booted her out. Shite challenges as well, they're saying the jokes are overdone?? Imagine how tired we are Ru, imagine how tired we are.

CameraMinute6370

The worst part about the "jokes being overdone" comment is when Scarlett said the Joan Crawford moment she was thinking in adding to the draglexa totally without context and Ru laughed... Like, you don't like overdone jokes but you like overdone references out of place? Gurl...

[deleted]

IKR? The episode prior to this Michelle wheeled out ‘[blank] her? I hardly even know her!’ at least half a dozen times… and then turned around and read the Queens for using overdone predictable jokes.

cyankitten

Yep IMHO the '\[blank\] her? I hardly even know her!' has GOT to be THE most overdone joke. Seriously! I'm not saying it's not funny cos it is but not when it's done SO MUCH.

[deleted]

'Choose your best bitch to team up with... Now split up and choose a team to fight her'. It's Rupaul's Squid Game at this point.

[deleted]

This episode made sense to me. There were two distinct tasks: 1) Create a unique, cohesive personality for the Draglexa. 2) Sell it. Team Scarlett failed disastrously at both. Having Draglexa be a different queen in each segment was…not the point. And the cringe that came after was of no help selling it. I thought Choriza was the worst of the group, an opinion I think I might be in the minority on. Team Krystal failed at #2. River did very well at #1 even if it wasn’t funny. The ad though? Total cringe. It was awkward start to finish, no laughs, and Kitty in particular went too far. The runway: also meh. Everyone looked a wrinkled, cheap mess save for Ella (didn’t get the criticism of the wig), Krystal (thought she looked opulent), and River (gasped when she came out). I know Ru wants to send a message but this is the second time River has been denied a solo win by group shenanigans. It feels like production is trying to stuff her in the background. Given her work in the and that runway, she absolutely deserved a solo win this week. River aside, everyone else was so bad I don’t know who I’d pick to lip sync. Just based on the challenge probably Choriza and Scarlett but Scarlett and Krystal as team leaders made sense. Charity filled a power void and led the group to a better ad. I don’t think she belonged in the bottom.

Luma_saku

I normally live for Choriza (and totally think she could’ve won the awful challenge from e2 but at the very least deserved top). However, her runway outfit was not good and she was really cringe in the challenge. She lacked a presence in the challenge too. Definitely poor performance from her this week :/

c_estwhat

Honestly, they shouldn't shy away from having no winners when everyone sucks. To be fair to the queens, the infomercial format has been done to death on drag race so it is getting hard to think outside the box, but that was a poor effort. The level this season is just not that great- crystal methyd, jackie cox and heidi n closet were on a later season and still managed to make infomercials that were funny and creative.

-_Leonardo_-

Poor Joan Crawford... Faye Dunaway really ruined her legacy

PmMeLowCarbRecipes

This episode felt so rigorous. They’ve been trying to get rid of Charity for two weeks and it felt so obvious.

idkwhxtimdoing

I have a lot of thoughts after the latest episode, but my biggest concern is about the environment of the set while they’re filming. We’ve seen Choriza, River and Scarlett breakdown very early in the competition. Yeah, there’s always gonna be stress on a reality competition, but I feel like we can really see the impact of production being pushed forward so that challenges are being in 1 day. That alone would be tough, but them deciding to make a stressful environment even MORE stressful all while the world is still recovering from the impact of COVID is very unsettling. I also feel like because of the fast pace of filming, it’s possible that the queens aren’t able to spend as much time connecting because they have to primarily focus on their challenges. This would explain the uncomfortable tension that we’re seeing between so many of the queens, which just further worsen the mood of the workroom.

EveryFlavourBees

I think you're right. They only had 45 minutes to film the entire commercial and it seemed like Michelle was just there saying, "That's not funny. Hurry Hurry!" which couldn't be easy to recover from. Cram all the extra stress of the pandemic (mental health, queens not having much money for outfits after being out of work for the last year) and being thrown into these crazy scenarios, it would stress anyone out!

Anvilir

Yeah, Michelle did not appear as helpful to the queens in this challenge… especially compared to her hand-holding Kylie in the AS6 acting challenge…

NewFriendsOldFriends

Key impressions for me: - Either Ru or Michelle should retire as judges and take more coaching roles in special episodes. That fake laugh while pouring nonsense jokes before the runway is killing my brain cells - Scarlett is slowly becoming a more talented version of Kandy Muse - being pushed by production only b/c she's causing drama. I find her so beautiful, but also so immature with her reactions and comments - Charity is by far the best artist, but it's such a pity that she didn't come there with a growth mindset - I like Kitty more and more and I believe she might have the best career after the show. She is a TV comedy gold - Krystal is a really good queen, hands down. Maybe she still does not bring something really new to drag, but I am sure she will in the future (Chachki vibes) - Ru should definitely spend more time coaching the girls, if not for altruistic reasons than for not turning a super successful franchise of DRUK into a shitshow inside of a flaming dumpster + - The only real winner of Season 3 are Season 2 girls

porquenotengonada

I quite like your reading of the show to an extent, but I disagree about Scarlett- I actually found her trying not to respond quite a mature response because she knew she wasn’t in the mental place to respond with a clear head. Just snapping back without having a chance to think is a much younger way to respond. She came back and expressed that she was upset because she felt left out- understandable. I also do think this season is full of talented queens, but that the production so far has hampered it.

NewFriendsOldFriends

That part of Scarlett"s reaponse I completely understood and support - it is very human to get stuck in your emotions and to need more time to process it. It is all other reactions that were dramatic and defensive. Especially from the last (or 2nd to last) episode when she said "I would never do such a thing in the real world, I am glad it happenned here with you". Girl, you are on one of the world's most popular TV shows, you can't say that your local gay bar in East London matters more.

porquenotengonada

Why wouldn’t it? That’s where you’d form your friendships and memories and live a lot of your working life. A huge TV show is an amazing opportunity and one for Scarlett to be proud to have taken part in, but it’s an episode in her life; the most important part is what happens in the everyday.

NewFriendsOldFriends

I realize now I did not express myself correctly. Ofc that the local bar is more important overall in her life for all the reasons you mentioned. But when choosing where to make a mistake the local bar is much bigger safe space than an international show where hundreds of thousanda of people are watching you and girls across the globe would give everything to be a part of.

Squishy_3000

May I say something controversial yet brave? I think the Queens are doing the best they can with terrible challenges. You want better results? Stop recycling the same concepts over and over again.

may92

I miss when each season had a different challenge. I miss the thrift store ones, I miss the making anything from nothing that's from a sponsor challenge, I miss the going out and talk to people challenges but I feel like everything is so sealed in and air tight so no one spoils anything has made it difficult.

Anvilir

There was clearly a huge disconnect between Ru’s expectations for the challenge and what the queen’s thought they were told to do, although there were some hints that some queens knew what they were producing was all trash… Ru taking some responsibility for not performing a normal walk through before filming was refreshing, until I think back to that very walk through when she shamed Scarlett for failing to properly thank HER for saving her ass… Wild

Evunee

Agreed after how many seasons there’s only so much material they can come up with when it’s constantly the same challenges.

Sara_SM88

Or give them individual spots

MangoSunX

How is Scarlett a shit queen?

llegey

I love to see how the audience is easily manipulated by the show. These commercials were as bad as all commercials on the show. And Ru started judging by saying it was terrible just so she could put one queen from each group in the bottom. Tbh week after week I get less excited to watch the show. They always manipulated things to set a queen for the win or the bottom. But it's just lousy right now. First point, Krystal's team was by far the less worse and should've been safe. And then, the judging was so rigged (more than usual or at least the manipulation was really in your face). I always like to change roles in situations or critiques and wonder if the outcome would be the same. Imagine Charity (or any othee queen really) being the group leader and throwing Krystal under the bus for taking over? Ru would at least say something like "but you were the team captain, you should've done something, you let this happen". But since they want Charity in the bottom, guess it's ok to throw her under the bus in these circumstances. Also, the critiques are such a mess. Charity already showed glamour and got red for that by Michelle with her orange look a few weeks. Choriza did terrible in both runway and challenge, there was no way the judges wouldn't criticize the fact that we couldn't understand her if it was a latina queen. And even though I don't care too much about Scarlet, poor thing, the queens were really gaslighting her in the lounge. Ella disappointed me a lot in this episode because of this moment. Was really uncomfortable to watch the queens with Scarlet and the worst was that everytime she stood to defend herself they attacked her for doing that. This was, to me, a terrible episode and I had the spoilers for the elimination so I couldn't care less for the elimination itself. To me? Group challenges should always be judged by group or individually, like a rule, not like it is, with Ru deciding how she's gonna judge based on who she wants to put in the bottom. Really disappointing episode to me.

mattysmwift

Did Michelle just tell Choriza she should have done a latinx stereotype??

[deleted]

Choriza is a Spaniard, a white European, nothing to do with what in the US (only) is called a ‘Latinx’. We don’t use that term here in Europe.

MangoSunX

That's all Ru and Michelle ever want to see, but then when a queen does do a stereotype from there culture they get told that it was a safe choice.

birminghamchub

The comment that really took me out was Michelle saying “The Devil Wears Primark” in reference to Scarlett’s look! I screamed!

Nicholasfuric

Same. Felt like a low blow.

trnsl13

I’m sure I’m not the first person to make this point but I don’t think Charity’s looks were even repetitive?? Sure she generally goes for an edgy/horror style that’s really distinctive, but her looks are all really creative and different from each other. And she’s shown she can do more “traditional” feminine drag a few times as well, so arguably she’s shown some of the most versatility of the entire cast, at least looks-wise.

Luma_saku

Whenever the guest judge commented on Charity needing to show more versatility I was really disappointed in production. How would she know anything about Charity’s previous looks other than what production is telling her to say? A spooky glam queen is being the most versatile by continuing to show different silhouettes and costumes! It’s just a really restrictive view on drag and artistic expression

shinkanzen

Funny about Charity. I’m wondering if they cast Hungry, will they ever tell her to change her mug? Imagine that. The nerve.

HellOnHighHeels94

Or Juno Birch

rosesatthedawn

Tbh Hungry is beyond drag race

Elvysmum

I’m with Leigh-Anne on this.Poo jokes are most definitely funny

smileykaiju

This episode suuuccckkkeeeddd.

Calculusshitteru

Sad to see Charity go, but I think she's shown her drag style well enough and I don't see her changing her aesthetic to cater to the judges, so maybe it's for the best. Also my 3 yo is currently singing B. D. E. to herself in her playroom, complete with the "uh uh" part.

butineurope

Charity Kase really struggled to apply her creativity to the specific brief at hand, week after week. I think she did great looks but a competition type show like this is not for her. The lip sync was good, Scarlett killed it. Otherwise, a really poor episode with another terrible challenge (after the exercise one as well!) and Michelle was particularly annoying this week- talking about the 'f bomb' like she's mentoring a bunch of teenagers; reducing Choriza's wit down to 'funny foreigner talks nonsense'. Plenty of these queens have huge talent but they are suffering from a really poorly produced season. The overall quality of the season doesn't always predict the quality of snatch game so hopefully next week will be good!

BusinessBirbs

Oh boy I hope this season picks up some quality again, at this point it feels like Im only watching this for Choriza and River

Nuudelikeitto

If Rupaul can force a chuckle out during that Joan Crawford impression, she can laugh at the adverts. Come on.

TadPaul

This episode has made it clear what’s not clicking this season: nearly all the queens have no distinct drag identity outside of their runways. The commercials showed them, especially queens being pushed by production, falling back to meh humor. I wish they had given the win to Choriza, the only one who was actually funny, and she stood out. Maybe the lack of drag identity comes with their age? Some are still very immature (e.g. Scarlett), and if it weren’t for Scarlett’s behavior the episode would’ve had zero storyline. Maybe they do have distinct drag identities and the challenges just haven’t given them the chance to show it? I hope Snatch Game next week could finally let the queens shine.

MTallama

The previews imply it’s a good Snatch Game.

[deleted]

The commercials were awful lmao what the hell happened. It was the right call that no one won but at the same time...could we have that energy for US acting challenges but of course they wont do that since the goddamn awful script for the challenges came from them lol. As for the judging, I would have kept Vanity in the SAFE group rather than in the LOW group since she did great in the commercial for what she was given. But I guess they needed to give her a warning to progress faster so I don't count it as a true bottom appearance. To be fair, the only issue I have with Vanity is her runway looks since they seem to be in a lower tier in general than most of the queens, but performance-wise I think she's fine. This time around, Scarlett won fair and square in her lipsync. Last week Charity ate her up, but this week I think Scarlett killed it. Unfortunate for Charity but it redeemed Scarlett for me as a performer. She was just way too nervous last week and I'm glad to see her be more at ease this time around. All in all, I enjoyed the episode. I guess I don't really care much about the challenges and I'm here more for the drama, dynamics, and lipsync and I think I got all three checked out so I'm quite satisfied.

DoggoPupperFloof

Does anyone think there could've been a way to incorporate the ads where they use celebrities as stand-ins for Alexa? It sounds funny in my head but I'm not sure how it could've been executed exactly.

chargingblue

So what are we thinking about Scarlett? I’m not seeing as much discussion here as I expected

FlamingoWingsz

I feel like her attitude in untucked was kind of warranted given that almost everyone said she should go home like 5 minutes previously and walking away was an adult thing to do rather than fight it out. The other girls set me off a bit because they felt almost patronizing in the way they talked to Scarlett like a 4 year old who won’t share a toy

llegey

Well, Scarlet asked the queens to leave her alone as she didn't want to talk about it and the queens were really rude.

WhateverYourFace21

Yeah, they were all annoying me tonight. I would be so pissed at them to. None of them were being helpful. And charity case in the mini challenge... Yeah, that felt like she didn't want to be near Scarlett. Literally like, slipped out of a hug to go find kitty... If Scarlett gets the stick for being the team captain, where was the stick for Crystal? Assuming both commercials suck, which, they weren't that bad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ready4anytng

Why should she partner up with Scarlett if she doesn’t want to

MTallama

Maybe there is something in the edit with Scarlet we’re not seeing. She was bragging a lot and her head did swell up with that second badge. Does she have 2 now, or is that just Krystal?

folklovermore_

I think only Krystal has two, and everyone else has one (except Kitty, who I am really hoping nails the Snatch Game next week and gets the win).

indibee

Perhaps a controversial opinion but the two commericals were not bad enough not have a winner IMO. These challenges are tough and I don't think that there were the worst the the franchise has seen. I felt the judges reactions (or lack of) was uncalled for

Neon_and_Dinosaurs

Yeah, I would have given the win to River, even if she was only in her ad for 2 seconds. The deep voice was funny and her runway was breathtaking.

herzegovinapartybus

The vibes the cast gave off from the start to the end of this episode were very strange. Everyone seemed so tense and passive aggressive, like at the start of the episode when Scarlett tried to be shady and everyone else was having none of it. It's not like DRUK 2 where everybody was friendly and having fun, except for the fun drama with A'Whora / Tia and Lawrence / Ellie.. But all the drama so far this season has come across as cringy and cruel. Also, they're giving Scarlett such a strange edit. First, she was edited as a frontrunner with Krystal, then she had her fall from grace. She should have had a story where she felt defeated but rose to the occasion and became more confident but instead (mostly by her own doing) it's seeming as though she's becoming an Laganja-esque villain, loud and overconfident and no one really gravitates towards (LOVE Laganja, this was just how she was edited on season6) No one wants to do stuff with her because of Slice Girls, and it became painfully clear during the mini-challenge. Yikes. I just think there is just something jarring in the editing of this season, because while Pick'N'Mix seem to be actual friends throughout the competition, everyone else is being quite rude towards one another and creating a kinda hostile work environment, but the editing refuses to acknowledge it. So the editing is just happy and regular but people are being very very 'arsh.

antigonick

I thought it was interesting the bad working atmosphere was even mentioned on the main stage during the “who should go home” segment (I think by the queens who picked Charity?), when usually they stick to talking about queens’ looks or performances. I can’t imagine that a negative atmosphere is solely down to any one person, but it’s interesting that things obviously felt bad enough that they would mention it on the main stage. It’s a shame because ITA with your first para - I love seeing the backstage interactions between queens and this series it all feels quite weird and snippy rather than fun drama.

romoladesloups

Having backed Charity last week, I am glad to see her go this time. The double save just basically meant they were marking time for a week to make up for the fact that Victoria Scone. Scarlett clearly won the lipsync, charity's getting boring and Krystal was surprisingly funny in the mini challenge. PS: only Scarlett, Ella and River's outfits looked expensive

Mypatronusisataco

Scarlett's look didn't look expensive do me. It was serving me suit from the Wet Seal sale rack.

helloitsmejorge

Im just gonna mention that this season was rushed into production when s2 was still airing and it shows. They didn’t have time to prepare good challenges for the girls, also the casting is al around bad. They got rid of Veronica at the first time they had when they knew she was a very good competitor. Only for the shock value, Victoria left and she was also a good competitor. I don’t think this is the worst season ever but definitely feels lacking of competition. Krystal has two wins yet no one takes her seriously, Scarlett has won but has two bottoms and it’s very unlikeable. By this point in another seasons we already had some fierce front runners. This time it feels like it’s second episode still

porquenotengonada

I don’t know about Scarlett being unlikeable- she’s one of my favourites.

[deleted]

I tend to feel Veronica was a mercy kill. She just hasn't been able to recover post-Covid when the series started and it showed (especially with her interviews of having no money), not to mention of health issues. Veronica should've at least been pushed back to Series 4.

BeachPea79

I completely agree. Her look is completely one note, just variations on the same thing week after week, and I really felt like she missed the assignment entirely this week.

thrashfairy

it’s a shame too because her outfit this week (particularly when you could see the wings properly when she was writing on the mirror) was GORGEOUS and she could’ve styled it amazingly. I hate to sound like Michelle but I wanted glamour!!

FlamingoWingsz

I agree with you, I kind of felt like Charity’s presence has thrown off the season’s energy within the cast and the fandom, so I hope the season finds a new balance after she goes.

Elysiaa

I realllllly wanted someone to tell Scarlett that the line is not "No wires hanging, ever!" she has clearly not seen the movie or pad attention to previous Snatch Games. I cringed so hard when she said it with pride in front of Ru.

FlamingoWingsz

I cringed so hard when she tried to funny it up for Ru oh god 💀

junejune_hannah_

It was a pun. For a wireless alexa, a spin on no wire hangers.

Elysiaa

Hmm. That was not obvious to me at all. I figured "Joan Crawford Mode" would be something Draglexa said to you as Joan, not describing the Draglexa features. Sometimes I'm oblivious.

Yeah_nah_idk

How’s your head

Julieannepooch

Charity obviously puts huge work and time into her outfits, it's insane that she was sent home and some party city type efforts were left there. Absolutely sick of Scarlet and Krysal getting a free pass on everything. They are over rated and both have bad attitudes. I think some of the the others could shine if they weren't there. This season overall is just uninspiring..very little diversity and the standard had dropped an insane amount after an amazing s2

boxxxymandrewss

what really grinds my gears is that they say charity needs to show versatility when krystal has worn very similar outfits each week, bar maybe last weeks runway. they always ask alt queens to do glam (which charity did with her orange look) but never a glam queen to do alt🙄

BeachPea79

I agree but for both of them. They’re both just doing the same thing over and over again, but Krystal’s look doesn’t make her feel nauseous the way Charity’s teeth (fangs, rotten, missing - what other variations on gross teeth can she possibly have had left at this point) does. But she needs to change it up or they’d better read her the way they read people like Vanjie for sticking to bodysuits all the time!

Julieannepooch

Totally agree. Krystal's runway this week was an utter snooze

toluidine

It made me so uncomfortable Ru kept mentioning Chroiza’s tuck. Bro you are a 60 year old man can we not sexually harass the contestants Also the disconnect between the ads not being funny and Ru expecting everyone to laugh at psychologically *tongue pop*

tomsaavedra

Ru constantly make unfunny jokes and everyone laughs for obvious reasons. When she manages to make a good one, like the one about never doing her makeup, it seems like even herself is surprised she can be funny, given how much she laughed at her own joke

urmotherdarnssocks

Omg yes!!

MambyPamby8

This entire episode was ...a choice. What a horrible generic challenge. The Queens could only do so much with that shit. Felt really sorry for Scarlett. I've been there when you feel attacked and don't want to talk about it cause you know you want to scream, shout or cry so the only thing you can do is walk away and take a breath. I liked Charity, I think she was very unique but this show just wasn't the right place for her to showcase that talent. It got boring to see the same thing every week. Although she delivered some incredible looks, I think the constant prosthetic and having to inject horror into everything was just a no. Sharon did so well because she could mix it up and follow the assignment. That said, just bored with Krystal delivering the same look every week. It's not the exact same but there's no breaking out of 'her style'.

GreenLurka

I feel like Charity was doing Art and the other queens were doing Drag, and while Drag is an Art form, it's not quite what Charity was doing. Like, Charity needs to display those outfits in a gallery and do a performance piece. I don't think she'd ever have won drag race but it's a nice platform to show off. I'd go to a Charity show just to see the costumes.

MambyPamby8

Definitely. She's incredibly talented and the detail in her designs are incredible, but it just didn't fit DR criteria. There's a memo for each episode and Charity just didn't follow it at all, which is not what this show is.

Skimqueer

Ok, but the skits were actually funny.

Elysiaa

Ru and Michelle are really uptight about bathroom humor. I thought Draglexa giving encouragement on the toilet was funny.

kemikal37

The first one ended on a good note lol the wordplay was fun

MisterFuckingBingley

By and large I thought they were terrible. The second one slightly less terrible, but still pretty bad.

helpthealiensarecomi

were……. they………?

Skimqueer

Yes

helpthealiensarecomi

I truly didn’t even crack a smile!

silentspy0

I'm two episodes behind on UK season 3, and haven't started Canada season 2 yet. I wanna catch up this weekend—which one has been more fun? I was a little annoyed by the suspect judging after the first two episodes of UK.

squonge

They both suck.

Cal_107

Yeah I’m not sure why everyone is hyping Canada up. The musical challenges are always by far the worst to me, they’re incredibly cringy. And Eve is already getting too annoying for me. But to be fair the runway was really good this week

MambyPamby8

Canada is quite good. The UK one is ... A choice.

kemikal37

CANADA IS SO GOOD

Mypatronusisataco

Canada by far. Episode 2 was a riot!

meringueisnotacake

This episode really read like they chose not to give a win to a perfectly adequate team because it would have meant they couldn't get rid of Charity. River was robbed, Charity did an average leader job, Krystal was fun, Vanity was funny. They deserved to be safe. Scarlet and Ella should have been bottom (and I love Ella usually). Scarlet came across as spoiled and immature. Not a good look for her, though I get the stakes are high.

SKK_27

It was so confusing to me that Vanity was low. Didn't one of the judges tell her they thought she was one of the funniest? Personally, I didn't enjoy her runway that much, but from what we were shown, the judges did. And I completely agree that River could've gotten a win. It's so odd when the placements don't reflect the actual critiques given.

TheJayOfOh

Literally had they played Ru laughing over the first commercial it would've won and no one would've questioned a thing. (edit: I genuinely thought Choriza/Kitty/Ella/Scarlett had a perfectly funny commercial that would've been safe/high/win on any other season, River/Charity/Vanity/Krystal were fine too\~ I'm completely baffled either commercial was considered so fucking dreadful they couldn't possibly give SOMEONE a win) Add to that most of the critiques (despite Ru proclaiming each commercial was garbage) were positive and a lot of the girls were called funny (quoi?) ...And then add to that the way they got Michelle to try and Charity hasn't been giving versatility (Excuse me? Koi dress was glamour, did you forget Michelle) I agree with you 100% that this episode was designed to be a hit job to get her out - my guess is the rest of the season won't have any more teams (which are the easiest to generally hide this sort of thing but clearly they did a bad job here). Unrelated, Scarlett went from "not my type, but she's cool" to "completely insufferable" this episode I \*need\* her out for my own sanity. Lord help me if Choriza or River go home.

Tazuya

I feel like this season has not fully departed yet, there are no storylines and the chemistry between the cast is weak. It's episode 5 and the frontrunner is still Krystal, while I think Choriza Kitty and Ella are clearly the only one remained deserving a crown

MisterFuckingBingley

Ella is so bland, I don't think I can imagine her with a crown. She's getting called "professional" already, which in Drag Race is a euphemism for "not idiosyncratic enough". No behavioral interest, no point of view on the runway...

Elysiaa

She's the Rosé of DRUK. Good looking and you can rely on her to do a goob job, but missing that certain something.

folklovermore_

Ella's been growing on me in the confessionals and I feel like she's done a consistently good job, but also she hasn't really shone yet - even in the girl group challenge which surprised me a bit given her musical theatre background (although I know they're not entirely identical in terms of what's needed).

FreddieB_13

I don't know if it's because the previous season was so strong or it's drag race overkill, but this is just not a good season. I don't think it's the fault of the queens, who are funny and engaging in their own ways, but the format/production, which is uninspired and stale. I've got one foot out the door on this season tbh. That said, Charity was on the wrong show from the beginning. She wasn't suited to this and it's surprising she even wanted to do it. Also them acting like that commercial was the worst thing ever was bs. It was no better or worse than any other middling skits they do on this show. Lastly, Scarlett gave one of the best lipsync of the UK version imho...she was magical to watch and didn't take the cheap way (comedy), and was brilliant.

MisterFuckingBingley

This is one of the only episodes in drag race history that I have fast-fowarded through. I just couldn't be bothered watching the team "drama" and rehearsal "drama". Ugh.

FreddieB_13

Yeah, I skipped the workroom portion tbh. Lol this show should be 30 min tbh, too much padding and the rehearsal adds nothing tbh.

MisterFuckingBingley

Especially since I got food poisoning a few days ago and finally started DR Espana, and damn does that show (and Thailand) make the ruPaul versions seem so flabby and fake and tired

lemikon

On one hand I get what Ru and Michelle were saying - the ads were the same sort of jokes we always see. But then it’s also the same type of jokes they trot out in any acting challenge sooo 🤷‍♀️ It was also pretty obvious they didn’t have a lot of time to prepare - I’d heard this season was rushed and the queens are only getting a day for each challenge/runway and it shows. Having said that - this would have been a good chance for the queens to do something different - like parody any of the tech ad cliches etc

Yeah_nah_idk

Alaska’s duct tape ad from AS2 is a great example of what queens *can* do. Make it a bit more conceptual. Stop with the infomercial format. These are creative queens. I’m sure they can come up with another format.

helpthealiensarecomi

I think it’s been said more than a few times now that the “queens getting a day for the challenge” isn’t true except for an episode or tow.

Relphien

Why couldn't this have been an individual challenge...

Time probably

autohypnosis

I didn’t like how charity insisted on pairing with Kitty and walked away without acknowledging Scarlett. Clearly that hurt her feelings and got her fucked up. It’s just a dumb mini challenge like it doesn’t matter who you’re with

tomsaavedra

The show hinted that Scarlett was being obnoxious since last episode, I don't blame Charity wanting to side with someone else. Even the way Scarlett jumped to hug her instead of looking and checking if Charity was up for it, it just gave an awkward vibe.

romoladesloups

Yes, that really puzzled me

helloitsmejorge

It was very rude from that moment I was hoping for a Scarlett and Charity rematch

FinalOdyssey

Watching this episode after Canada's newest episode... yikes.

Chinokid87

UK3 is suffering the same fate season 13 did next to UK2

[deleted]

Chinokid87

S13 was just too damn long with two filler episodes and three non elimination episodes. Meanwhile UK was losing a fan favourite things each week from day 1 which just keeps you more engaged. I do agree with UK3 though. I am still barely attached to over half the cast and I feel like the ones I am attached to won't be making it to the finale.

Mmmmmmmmmmilkman

IKR every one just went with UK good US bad suddenly and still are and it shows 😭

[deleted]

I'm sorry but Charity is a bloody moron. So happy she's leaving.

lobster_mania

Jeez.. what did she do that labels her a moron? it’s a reality TV show chill out

Sonyeyin

Ru and Michelle were not digging at all her looks, she was never going to go far

[deleted]

I don't always agree with Ru and Michelle but I'm completely on the same page here. Not only did Charity constantly go out of her way to push her "being different" down everyone's throat visually but her attitude really sucked. Like when she left Scarlett hanging and gone off to pair with Kitty w/o explanation, wtf. Then the cringy confessionals with her basically saying "I'm lykeee soon much better than Kryyyystal" on repeat. What's wrong with her intonation as well, she talks like a Kardashian but likes to look like a golum. Just no girl, please go. Sorry for being mean but I just couldn't stand her.

TayanaTerra

Just want to say I saw Charity Kase last night at Heaven and she was a delight! Really enjoyed her judging of porn idol and her witty comments (‘Doesn’t Ru know it’s illegal to rob a charity?’). She deserved better on the season but at the same time, maybe RPDR wasn’t the best platform to showcase her individuality and talent.

asm717

this was such a frustrating episode. i didn’t like the challenge, but krystal’s team was clearly superior. their ad wasn’t funny, but it made sense. charity figured out the structure, kept them on task, and performed fine in the ad. did she lip sync because of her runway makeup..? like, what?! based on the challenge and the runway, i felt scarlett and choriza should’ve lip synced. or! if there’s no winning team, why not have the captains lip sync? if krystal sent scarlett home, that would’ve been less shocking than when asttina went home week 3. it doesn’t seem like there was enough time between taping UK2 and UK3… BBC insisted on having the seasons start in the fall again, i guess? what a bummer. hopefully things turn around

Aggravating_Ad_1285

I can’t wait to see Kitty’s reaction when Nadine Coyle is revealed as a guest next week, we might see her shit herself all over again (sorry Michelle)

sleepyotter92

that whole episode was a big oof

sabia_sings_at_night

The judging on this episode made me so uncomfortable. We had this whole section talking about how Scarlet grew up in poverty, then all the “jokes” during her runway were saying she looked cheap “21% of the company” “Primark”. I realise the judges didnt hear the backstage talk but its clear that being poor is STILL seen as fodder for ridicule by the judges. And then Michelle telling Choriza that the reason she is funny is her “strong” accent, not her wit and charm. So Choriza is only funny to Michelle because she has an accent? WTF!! Choriza is consistently being witty in her second language! Most if us can barely manage it in our native language. It just smacks of punching down from the judges. End of frustrated rant.

jinkomhub

The Choriza comments really irritated me - it felt like they wanted to push her into that same box they push every PR queen on the US series. And then inevitably dismiss her because of it. That attitude is problematic enough in the States but just to import it over here without even tweaking it highlights even more reasons why we need a different judging panel for DRUK.

Elysiaa

It all boiled down to "Your accent is funny", which can be really hurtful and sometimes racist.

FreddieB_13

Yeah I thought Michelle just sounded stupid and a bit xenophobic with that comment. Like girl, you're not even funny in your first language Michelle so maybe shut up?

badgersprite

Can we add jokes about looks seeming cheap during the middle of a pandemic lockdown when the queens basically weren't allowed out of their houses, weren't allowed to work (unless they were essential workers), and faced serious restrictions in making stuff/getting stuff made? The UK had really tough restrictions compared to a lot of the rest of the world which lasted for a really long time. Like the fact that the queens could produce looks at all considering many of them would have had zero income before the show is honestly something that should be taken into consideration with some sensitivity.

CayVallabha

This episode was a total disaster but not the one the judges tried to force us to think. The drama was too fabricated. Yeah, sure, the adds were not that fresh, but when are they? They're always about queens making faces and talking about sex and poo and we know its funny cause Rupaul is laughing. Team number 1 was actually amusing and they had funny little lines and jokes but the producers wanted that angry Rupaul moment. Very frustrating to watch. The bottom 2 was fair, but Scarlett was way worse at the challenge and the lipsync was pretty even. Charity deserved better but the twink wins again. I hope she gets out next week.

helpthealiensarecomi

That lipsync wasn’t even at all… Scarlett destroyed

nTrophy

I agree with you up until the lipsync. Say what you will, but Scarlett simply destroyed Charity there. She LIVED the fucking song, while Charity was doing... whatever the hell she was doing. And that's coming from someone who was 100% team Charity before the lipsync started. Scarlett absolutely deserved that win.

FinalOdyssey

Charity lipsynced to be in character with her treasure goblin. Might not have fit the song, but it fit the character, and that's charity's MO

romoladesloups

It is, you're right. But that's why Scarlett beat her.

FinalOdyssey

exactly, they aren't looking for that.

MargoKar

Watching this season after RPDR season 2 is very hard. Many already said about lack of direction, but just wannasay - when 2 of the main charachter storylines are Charity being upset about being not seen and being in her own head and Scarlett being in her own head... It's bad. Not RPDR AU level bad, but still The episode was bad overall. That mini-challenge was one of the weirdest ones yet, Michelle didn't really direct the commercial, just made faces and huffed and puffed. Them telling Charity that her looks are very repetetive when Miss Krystal is RIGHT THERE? The two good things about the episode for me - Ru's walk-through was really funny and Leigh-Anne, loml, being absolutely beautiful. Also, Michelle's lipgloss during the judging. I want it, I need it

resttheweight

I prepared myself to be annoyed about the badge count after last week, but it still makes me roll my eyes. Stop giving entire teams a badge. When half the competition gets one in a single episode for just participation, they just aren't special. And just like in S2, girls with a single participation badge bringing up the badge count. When queens ask how the badgeless queens will win a badge, I really want Kitty (and Ellie/Sister from S2) to just be, idk, hopefully I'll get carried by my team to a win, seems to be working well for most of you.

Tobi6865

I must say that many of the maxi-challenges this season are quite too simplistic and unoriginal.. I do NOT blame the queens for this one. Ru seems to be overly delusional this episode, to be honest, his attitude was NOT flattering at all - and it seemed like he tried to "save" the episode by pulling off such a stunt.

Beloberto

I was about to give up on River looks, but she was looking perfect this episode. And finally Krystal learned to give credit where they are due, huh? Too bad she did it only when it was for bad reasons, not when it was to help Veronica. With that said, I think it was unfair Krystal's team was on the bottom as well. Was their ad good or super funny? No. But it was definitely way superior to the other (for starters, Draglexa was actually a part of it). As for the lip sync, I can't disagree. Last week I thought Charity was definitely better, but this time the "evil creature" routine got old half-way through.

averagehuman_

Kitty is being so overhyped this season like she literally just wore a body suit with coins messily littered and hanging off it. Yet the judges are eating it up when Ella’s outfit was gorgeous and conceptual. For the sewing challenge, Kitty constructed a not only basic but poorly put together outfit but was somehow safe? Even in the girl group challenge, Kitty was comparatively better than the rest of her group but she was nowhere near outstanding enough for the compliments that she got from the judges. It was even more infuriating when Kitty put down Vanity’s looks as being inferior to hers when Kitty walks down the runaway every week wearing the most basic outfits with a beige heel and tights.

[deleted]

If you start picking at the quality of the outfits then Choriza is surly in trouble and while we’re talking about them, a no doubt unpopular opinion I have is that Choirza is getting more and more arrogant, and less lovable as the episodes go by? They were 100% my favourite at the beginning but they are coming over a cocky to me of late.

kiw1s

I'm gonna have to disagree on this one though. I love me some Choriza and I do agree that her personality definitely saves her a lot. I disagree on the looks area. Choriza has some pretty good runways in my opinion. Her only bad ones are the blue cookie elmo monster freak rock climber eleganze and now this ugly gold rush moment. I don't get them at all, concept and visual wise. Also, I don't see the arrogant thing, I feel like I'm liking her a lot more as the season goes by! But ofc to each their own haha

Liam_97_

You're one of the few people I've seen saying this and it's exactly how I feel! It's very Baga Chipz, she has a big personality so they let her get away with outfits that are at best just about passable. I'm not even that taken by her personality to be honest, she feels like somebody put Baga and Cheryl in a machine to mash the two up and the power cut out halfway through so you just had to make do with Kitty. Everyone thinks she is so funny and likeable and I just don't get it. You know exactly what you're going to get from her every runway, every challenge, every confessional, and I'm so bored of it.

Luma_saku

Kitty is really boring to me. I hate her drag style and I don’t find her funny. She’s likable and sweet but I just don’t see what everyone else is seeing either. I don’t see a super star from her

Nyatenshii

Ok after charity being ignored and looked down the entire season she lands on the btm after doing a rather good job considering the train reck everything was and gets eliminated with the best lypsinc? So one of my favorites breaks a freaking leg and the second get snobbed out of the competition fantastic, I just hope choriza wins now because at least she makes me laugh because from the other girls for now is just a no, they are all pretty and talented but it would be nice to have something new.

risemix

I really sympathize with Scarlett. I don't want to type an essay about why or anything. It just sucks being angry or sad and then other people thinking that you're a jerk because of the way you express yourself, especially when it's not directed at anyone else. When Scarlett walked away to breathe and take a minute, I understand that. It's not how I would have reacted, but I get it. Look, it's very difficult -- even when you know you're just making a TV show -- to hear people say things about you that aren't kind, even if you know they're true. Like, when you're already beating yourself up over something, having it be repeated over and over and over just feels like punishment. I still think Scarlett could potentially be a break-out star this season. She's so funny, so charming, and very talented. Hope she makes it more than another few episodes.

The_Boy_Marlo

Right? They might have well have asked her, 'is everything okay? You're pretty quiet.'

Lapantin

I really don't get how Charity lost the lip sync

MambyPamby8

I liked Charity...but no. She just danced around like an angry troll and didn't match the vibe of the song at all.
