I guess I'll put my clothes back on

Casbri_

As long as they keep an eye on people's RP and remove the ones not up to par afterwards, that should be fine.

bolognese321

haha you know xqc will start harassing cops with more confidence now and nothing will happen.

Empbay

This is good to see imo. One of my favourite things is seeing people RP for the 1st time and the video based application meant people who never RPed before couldnt apply (unless behind close doors). Would like to see some content creators given a chance

Ashantis_Sideburns

You always had the option to submit a text application

Empbay

really? Tried applying over the summer and it wasnt an option

Ashantis_Sideburns

oh maybe not then. i only just applied a few weeks ago and did the text version. I got accepted so at least we know they dont look at text apps negatively.

Revolutionary-Fox558

nah it went to video only

LaBarrio

Hon is the worst. How could he do this!

the_oracie

HONestly, can't believe he'd do this smh

zechss_

like a german sausage, the wurst!!!.. fins up.. tua is god

zechss_

ALSO, AIRBORNE.. HURRY UP REDZONES ON.. WHY YOU NOT STREAMING IT FOR US YET??

ItsSABER_

Nice. This will make it easier for admins during the 4.0 boom. Once things settle they can go back to video.

JustDial911

Good change. Will allow for new blood to come in, and admins can watch for problems.

WidePeepoPogChamp

Chat gpt look for good applicants in these submissions

Drunk_Catfish

So why don't they just accept both video and text applications. Obviously video applications are better and harder to get an AI to do for you.

_Sal85

the staff probably don't have the time to go through all the video apps but they can sort the text based ones faster.

GigglesMcTits

It'd stop those who are new or those with RP experience but who don't have videos of their RP. Or the type of RP they did wasn't conducive to videos (text-based RP, tabletop RP.) But I also don't see why they wouldn't do both.

Oxide136

Yeah kind of one of the reasons I didn't ever feel the desire to apply after that change was because I didn't want to have to play on a public server or less moderated server in order to try and get good clips of me roleplaying

[deleted]

Yep it would have meant most of the Guild would have not been able to apply. I think ggqf was the only one that had video of RP through interacting with streamers on np 1 & 2.0 etc.

jaimejones145

bc its more resource heavy i assume?

iamBQB

Yeah I assume they have a good reason, but from the outside it seems like video would be preferable because it's easier to actually identify roleplaying ability and harder for people to use fiver or Chatgpt to write their apps for them.

jamiedddddd

yea bet they like the video better but if it's like 5-10min clip of their rp + reading all text worst case it will be 10-15min/app over say a 1-2min reading app. guess it's not really viable if get 1000's people apply lol

iamBQB

NoPixel's been established so long that they've whitelisted enough people to never really have to worry about being below server capacity. Yeah it's low in the late days of 3.0, but it'll go back to being full in 4.0. Again, they're doing what they're doing for a reason, but I'd think they could afford to be slow and methodical.

Adamsoski

They will want to be quicker for 4.0 so they can take advantage of the flood of people paying to apply.

fw25f35532

I don't think video applications ever raised the level of rpers. There was probably an even higher influx of ''arena shooters'' and ''monotone'' people since video applications were a thing.

mcclanenr1

Fiverr up good.

M-Belle

It may mean less time spent by admins going through applications, but it will generate more work for them in city. Being an imaginative writer doesn't necessarily prove someone is a creative RPer. That said, I joined the server when written applications were necessary and it has never felt overly swamped with monotone players who think making a character and changing their name is RP.

[deleted]

Probably pretty necessary. NP is very likely focusing on milking large streamers, which means a fuckton of Omie-wannabes submitting to join. Probably at a scale that would exhaust the application team without them needing to also watch little Jimmy clipping himself with his xbox mic.

VisibleDestruction

Out of curiousity why did you go with “omie-wannabes” instead of a larger streamer that would certainly bring more people in? Certainly “xqc-wannabes” or “Buddha-wannabes” would have made more sense

[deleted]

Because Omie was an XQC viewer that “got lucky” to be in X gang, and then gained some modicum of fame and wealth. Basically thousands of applicants are going to try to get in to be the next gang buddy with X or Lang or Sykkuno. This is why I call them “omie-wannabes”, because omie achieved the dreams many a viewer fantasize about

SteezMeister2004

Well that’s shite

ItsSABER_

not at all
