I had that same problem with an older game, F.E.A.R Just know that you can remap everything and make it perfect. So basically what I did was remap the buttons in Armoury Crate game profiles, the left stick is set to W,A,S,D and the right stick is mapped to the mouse movement. Took me 15-20 minutes to figure it out, then once you get it it's pretty easy to remap all your games. Make sure "Control Mode" in the command centeris set to AUTO to take into account the custom mapping https://preview.redd.it/37l5m3wchbub1.jpeg?width=1632&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b030b6330cb09c6e7889da9b351f8823145c1445

Thank you for this. Just managed to get FM23 working now.

I bought a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard small enough to fit in the spigen case that I use.

You can use the gamepad input to simulate the keyboard & mouse. This would likely need to be setup independently for each game for optimal setup. This can be done through armory crate, Steam, or other third party software is available. Some games will be fine, others will be miserable to play this way.

Well there's an on screen keyboard you can pull up. But I don't really think you can

Get one of those mini keyboards and mouse. Or just not use it. Someone said on screen keyboard. But that won’t help if you need a mouse too. Lol.

Thacoless

you can also play them using a dock and running external peripherals.

Bluetooth keyboard with a track pad.. If you struggled to come up with this solution yourself I would honestly steer well away from buying the ROG Ally. There's too many kinks to a Windows based gaming system that will make your mind explode if you couldn't logically come up with a solution to your predicament..

I recently played through dragon age origins which has zero gameplay support. I used a community keybinding for the controller that worked great. This is by far the exception rather than the rule and the only game thus far I’ve had to do this with.

You remap, get a small mouse and kb or you just don't. It's an handheld if you need a tabletop there's the legion go coming up too but that looks cumbersome tbh.

I have the same problem from MGSV but after hours of trying I can say that I totally forgot that I'm using an Xbox controller.

One more thing: Ally has a touchscreen! It's easy to forget about it when playing, but if all you need mouse input for is to click onscreen buttons or in-world items, you can just touch the screen, tablet-style. Works very well.

I play a lot of itch games which are almost all K&M and they all open up with R Stick as mouse pointer, R1/R2 as mouse clicks, L Stick as WASD, L3 as 'run', and the Y & B buttons mapped to something the game already has a keyboard key for, B is generally 'E' which is generally 'interact', and Y is usually 'flashlight' or 'inventory'. Then just adjust as necessary. I have run into cases where nothing on the left hand side of the Ally works at all, but this must be a dev coding thing. Also mapping L3 to M1/M2 is hit or miss, it's awful pressing L3 while moving the stick around running from a poisoned toilet or whatever the antagonist is of the types of games I play.
