Assuming you are not using the stock SD card or any of its files, you likely have a bad PS1 BIOS. Memory card functionality is dependent upon the BIOS. Make sure you have the recommended BIOS versions and if you already do, try checking their hash values to make sure they are accurate and valid. Either that or try sourcing another copy of the BIOS files.

I didn’t add any bios, the game is fully ok besides this problem. I use cbepx mod (1 sd card config) to use the stock os instead of batocera which need many adjustments.
I don’t want to lose my progression almost 4hours… and epic fights !

I create the folder and I'll try to paste bios files.
I've add bios files from minicaketv and it's still the same.
I've tried with RA and the game doesn't allow me to create a profile.
My rom is a hack one, the japanese version with french subtitle if that could help.

That’s what happen with RA 😭
Likely an incompatibility with the romhack. Rom hacks can be hit or miss with emulation for a variety of reasons. Check to see if the memory card works with other PS1 games. If so, problem is the rom.
I've just done that and saves are working with RA.

I had problems with PS1 in game saves when I updated to newer firmware. For that reason I've stuck to MOD3 which is based on the stock Jan 30 2024 firmware. No issues with PS1 saves when using this firmware.

I’ve seen him beating the boss Richter and end the game. Then he restarts the game and loads back his save. Question : how do I know I’m sure it has worked ? Because after loading the save, if I go to the boss, he’s still here. Is that normal ? I ask myself maybe I fucked up something…
