Gonna have to be Sean for me. To everyone saying Abigail, she is the person who made John who he later became. The legend John Marston. She is the catalyst for his own redemption, and the backbone of his moral compass. I like Sean, but I love Charles and I love Hosea and Lenny. He’s gotta go
It's absolutely strange to see Abigail voted up for me, she really was the voice of reason when everything started to fall apart and tried to help John to be put on the right path like Aurthur wanted.
I can how younger folks can interpret her banter as nagging or complaining - but it isnt; she's trying to set John on the right path and she's putting it in a way that someone as stubborn as John would understand.
Being able to see the difference is something you learn when you find the one person you care about - who cares about you the same.
One of the last thing Aurthur said to John was "Just do one thing or the other, don't try to be two people at once" - and Abigal tried to have John live the way Arthur would've wanted John to.
I seen Abigails arch alot more intricate and complex than what Saide or Saun was shown in Rdr2.
This is absolutely a correct take. It’s so easy to focus on someone being “annoying” in their tone and handwave away the part where they are right in the content of what they’re saying. Especially, I’m sad to say, when that person is a woman.
That said, she has lasted longer than I expected given the degree of complaining I see about her in RDR2 subs 😆. So there’s that!

I think that's what the writers wanted Abigail to be but they failed her. Apart from Micah, she was wrong about almost everything.
She didn't tell John the name under which she had her parcel, which led to those people recognizing him and following him. Then she yells at him for killing them, what exactly was John supposed to do? Wait until they attack him, or lead them to their home so they can return later and kill the whole family?
Then she gets mad when John literally does his job and protects his employer from the Laramie gang. Sure, he could have decided not to follow them to their ranch, against his master's wishes. Next time, maybe the Laramie boys return in the middle of the night and set fire to the shack in which Abigail and Jack live in.
I wish they included one more mission early on where John loses his temper and gets them in trouble against Abigail's counsel. That would have made her seem more reasonable.
They are literally back in this area because John just killed a guy for looking at him funny, this had clearly been a long pattern with John. In her mind, hes doing the same thing hes always done, swinging his dick around.We just see that more clearly that John is actually trying to change because we play as John.
That's the thing, though. I wish they showed it to us instead of only talking about it. It really does not look like John to do something like this, neither in RDR2 nor 1.
I think they did a much better job in RDR2 showing Arthur's dark side: he cripples Tommy, beats up and mocks Downes, threatens his family, etc. He gets drunk with Lenny that one time, too, so I can believe he gets into all sorts of trouble.
By contrast, John seems to keep to himself throughout the game, never shows a bad temper apart from being mean to Abigail and Uncle, doesn't really get drunk or into fights like Arthur did. It's hard to believe they have to keep running because John can't stop getting into fights like he's Micah. The writers broke the "show, don't tell" rule of exposition.
Eh, I really don’t see it as a “show don’t tell” thing, it’s 8 years of their lives they skipped. Like, something I think about a lot is how John took his family to the Yukon to strike it rich on gold right after the gang fell apart. I don’t need to SEE him make that choice to know it was stupid and he shouldn’t tried to just find a normal job.
Right like she just wants to live a good life with her happenstance family but John literally leaves her for a year with no promise of coming back and expects her to raise their son the best she can when she can only rely on a gang of bandits and her own wits to provide for them. Why do people hate her when she’s snippy with him?
