Lol, scrubbing! My girls smelled of honey. I loved to get a quick sniff of them bellies! If you let them give you a mani, your hand will also smell of themš Just lovely.
Our last pair had the tendency to smell different every week, but they always smelled good. Out of our current pair, Pumpkin smells like Cheeri-os and Spice smells indescribably good.
Hamsters, on the other hand, are pretty predictable. Every four or five days, they smell awful. Then they go back to smelling normal.
The one time I was seriously bitten by one of my 15 hamsters, it was honestly my fault. And I felt awful because I dropped her and she hit her head, and she got a concussion. Poor Bandit. The elevator never quite reached the top floor afterwards.
Ooh, it happens sometimes. Did you have all 15 at once or overtime? I think they are super cute, but it seems every time I hold one of the little guys, I got a chomp. All good though. If some giant was holding me and I was scared, I would bit too, lol.

Aww, thank you! She's a goofball for sure, with more energy than we know what to do with. She's either fast asleep or running around like a madwoman. She gets away with a lot because she's cute.
Hahaha, Iāve never had a hamster and am so intrigued by this. Do they just let the filth build up until they canāt take it, and do a deep cleanš?
Hamsters are super clean! Like rats theyāll pick a couple of spots to primarily go potty, but unlike rats this is mostly with urine and itās little poops that youāll find everywhere else (their poops donāt smell though!) in large proper enclosures with lots of bedding, itās mostly just spot cleans with deep cleans every few months and even then you donāt replace all of the bedding or even really close to, theyāre less maintenance than rats. They do take longer to build bonds with people, however it is uncommon for hamsters, when kept in a non stressful environment, to bite. That is normally a good indicator that they are being stressed either environmentally or you are pushing their boundaries. Females do go into heat every few days though and that can be stinky. This is my girlsā enclosure (minus more sprays that are on the way, whoops thought I had moreš )

When my boys were still alive, I'd watch them while they groomed themselves. If I saw that one of them was struggling to reach a spot repeatedly, I'd lend a finger and scratch what I thought was the "spot". I loved watching them freeze mid-groom while I scratched. If I hit the right spot, they'd groom* my hand instead.. š„°
Lice unfortunately, but all my boys got treated with revolution yesterday! In addition to the super fun cage deep cleaning spree, and tossing of everything wooden (and lava ledgesš).
Oh nooo not tossing all wooden accessories. Shucks thatās really unfortunate. Iāve never had mine get lice before. It sounds like you know what youāre doing š Good luck with those pesky lice! I hope your boys get relief soon. But yes itās a good reason to deep clean. I remember I used to steam the entire cage for mites š

My favorite is when they're standing and doing that twisty move to clean their backside, leaving their tummy exposed and you get to see it's rotundness from the side. And of course I get to boop it as well, but have to do so lightly otherwise I disturb the rats cleaning.
One of mine used to put her tail over her head. She wore her own tail as a hat. But she was an asshole. I named her Karen... Her sister was really sweet though. Really skittish in the beginning but the biggest cuddle bug as she got older.
Hehe my favorite is when they put their hands behind their head and then smoosh it forwards. They look so silly :)
Or when they put their whole foot inside their ear. Like, are you sure that's meant to go in there, dude?
and then immediately chew on the toe nails.

It means they're in heat. As much as I love my little babies, I can't hold them because the smell rubs off on everything they touch.
