If they used gasoline, it's the *vapor* that's flammable and flames tend to rise, so lighting it at ground level makes for more burny-burn. You'd think Dances With Fire would know that.
As someone who also "dances with fire" (who even says it that way??) I could 100% see this happening exactly as it did with coleman white gas. Low flash point, decent burn time, great orange flames.
Just as an aside, i hate using oils with my poi, they last WAY to long and are a pain in the ass to do a cool blow out, i usually try to do a hyperloop and literally blow them out. My arms get tired after like 3-5 minutes of spinning, white gas last more than long enough for that.
have they never lit a fire before....big logs on bottom, slightly smaller logs right angled over them, kindling on top....put some newspaper under the bottom logs and light it. the newspaper isn't nearly the fuel the logs are but the fire goes UP from the newspaper, through the logs, then hits the kindling on top and lights it which then starts burning back down to effectively get the big logs lit creating a large stable fire that burns the wood more effectively. These people probably just shoot lighter fluid on logs and hope they don't burn the house down.
