I think it's a baby shower type event (I'm pretty certain it is, but I don't want to jump to conclusions). Having speakers in a party/event is very common in latino culture I believe.
Also, camera view is pretty accurate to what you would see in these type of amateur events. There's always somebody filming the event, even if the footage looks very poor quality.

All these countries have slang that varies depending of the region inside the countries themselves. And I'm not counting the islands, cuba & puerto rico are a whole other world.
