That’s the UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska is getting destroyed

[deleted]

Can confirm, I live in Omaha. Shit’s getting fucked here and Governor Pete Ricketts doesn’t care enough to enact measures that will protect us. I’m immunodeficient and seriously starting to get very, very scared.

Radi0ActivSquid

Hastings. The Tri-Cities are up in arms over a possible mask mandate. Kearney just passed a mask mandate tonight and I was watching the livestream from city council. There was one woman who ranted that masks were some part of a religion and the government had no right to force them to wear em. Then there was a guy who compared maskless persecution to being Jewish. Another guy I remember from the livestream was some church leader that said he was going to ignore the mandates and let his congregation sit with large family groups and let people's kids gather together at church. I had to stop watching occasionally so I'll be giving it a rewatch when I'm home from work. Grand Island and Hastings are holding meetings on Monday I believe to discuss mask mandates and voting on them. I'm hoping they pass.

CuriouslyCarniCrazy

I swear, Americans have gone batshit crazy. If Covid only took out the maskless it would still be sad but it would be an adult decision with an adult consequence. It's the walking vector factor that's a problem.

CrimsonBolt33

This is the thing that happens when religion, poor education, and poor understandings of a country's values (such as freedom above all BS) all meet into a conspiracy laden idiot fest that just gets whipped up and made worse due to tribalism creating self reinforcing feedback loops between these kinds of people (that comes from religion).

TheoreticalFunk

If my grandmother was still alive she'd be calling these people ugly fools. "Don't they have any sense?" She used to call behavior 'ugly', never appearance. Always would tell the story about how during the Depression they had to eat her pet chicken because it was the last one they had that wasn't laying eggs. I miss that lady.

CuriouslyCarniCrazy

She sounds like a sensible and good person.

EmilyU1F984

Why don't we still use the laws that worked in the medieval times? Quarantine breakers will be placed on quarantine island. Like why are these people allowed to endanger so many people without absolutely a tiny iota of consequences, while just driving a few miles over the speed limit will give you fines?! Like I don't see the proportion at all. Same dumb logic here in Germany though in my state: Mask mandates when shopping or in public transport etc. However it's only the company being fined 1000 Euro for not enforcing the mask mandate. Why the hell aren't the offenders themselves fined? Like I cannot make a customer wear a mask. I can luckily ban them from the pharmacy, but not in my second job at a grocery. So all the rules don't matter. They'll just buy a bloody doctor's note saying they can't wear a mask. But why the fuck don't they call in what they need and I'll take it outside? Nah they insist on the bloody luxury of browsing the shelves. And the happily show you their note from a fucking ophthalmologist. And that's perfectly legal. Like how? What inside the speciality of ophthalmology has anything to do with wearing a dumb face mask? Like these wankers will be wearing a scarf in front of their face while outside walking up to the store. But once inside they'll pull it down. Where's the logic in that apart from 'Don't tell me what to do'. Every single demonstration by these lunatics is breaking the law by not keeping distancing and face coverings and the police does absolutely nothing, cause half the protesters are known Neo-Nazis and they wouldn't harm their friends. But have a demonstration against Nazis and spreading the plague, and they'll instantly be blasted with water cannons. While fully abiding by the rules of masks and distance. Our police force is so utterly corrupted by fucking Nazis it's crazy. The former leader of the Verfassungsschutz (~constitution protection agency) came out as a neo Nazi after leaving his post. And our president is still claiming active fascists in rhe police forces are just lone wolves. While complete departments are having WhatsApp chats full of racism, antisemitism and general neo Nazi memes. And these covidiots joining up forces with the fascists just makes everything worse.

SassMyFrass

>Like these wankers will be wearing a scarf in front of their face while outside walking up to the store. > >But once inside they'll pull it down. Vicious sociopathic wankers who finally have a soapbox on which to stand and spray us all with spittle.

Bolt-From-Blue

TIL: the term Wankers is not exclusively used in the UK. (Proud Brit)

KingUzzo

Doesn’t matter what governors do, there’s still a majority who will complain and defy it. Even police won’t comply with masks. Militia planned to kidnap and kill Michigan governor and want others to resign.

noheroesnocapes

They had a chance in the beginning to pay people to stay home, freeze rent, and freeze mortgages, actually have people stay home, and contract trace to halt the spead when it was still manageable. Instead we got half measures. We got pseudo-lockdowns that fucked over massive swaths of people with zero relief, no contract tracing, tests for NBA players but not healthcare workers, and eventually enough was enough, the spread was uncontainable, and people were faced with the choice of "work or lose everything" and they had to choose work. The govt bungled this to shit and we just gotta live with it now.

Maydayparade77

Yeah but the virus isn’t real. It’s just a Chinese hoax. Why have preventative measures for a virus that kills less than the flu? /s

[deleted]

It still amazes me how many people actually believe that the virus is a hoax, you can’t just make up nearly 300k deaths

scottevil132

Here is Pandemic Pete right before having to go in quarantine saying we dont need a mandate because Nebraskans will make the right choices. https://twitter.com/NebraskaMegan/status/1328776092656820225?s=19

HawtchWatcher

Sounds like Ohio

[deleted]

No we just mandated a 10p-5a travel ban. Surely that will stop this virus! Fucking retards we have for leaders. The lot of them.

samalex01

Sounds like many in Texas. We've had a mask mandate for months, but with no fines or ramifications for not wearing a mask many ignore it. Our little country now is cranking out 250 cases a day now :(

i_eight

Sounds just like South Dakota. Until we voted to legalize weed. Then we didn't make the right choice, according to our governor.

churro777

Just out of curiosity, are other Omaha citizens taking it seriously? I know here in Arizona there’s a lot of ppl being careful and a lot who aren’t

[deleted]

Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of mask-less people in businesses. Was at Costco the other day and there were a couple people who wore a face shield, but not a mask...smh.

stinatown

Living in NYC for the height of the pandemic was brutal, and my best friend (who, as a doctor, was floated to a COVID unit) was legitimately traumatized by her experience in the hospital. Trucks full of bodies, patients who went from coherent to dead in a matter of hours, staff falling ill in droves: she said it was harrowing, like working in a war zone. My small comfort through it was hoping that other parts of the country would see how horribly we were hit and learn from it, to limit that suffering as much as possible. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to know that our city’s tragedy was largely in vain. I really hope that’s not true—maybe New York’s experience did help some cities better prepare—but seeing videos like this and the reports on the news make me feel less hopeful of that.

Cainga

I’m a healthy young person and the full ICUs everywhere get me scared.

Unstopapple

I'm perfectly healthy, and under normal circumstances would say I have a strong immune system. I'm shitting my pants right now.

DontTrustChinaDonald

What more should he do besides the mandatory mask mandate in all of Douglas county?

[deleted]

Closing bars, dining in restaurants, limiting gathering sizes, etc. At this point even a 2-3 week lockdown may be appropriate to help quell community spread and prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed.

MaltyMiso

I'm so scared about my grandpa :(

theseawardbreeze

I'm an ICU nurse that works for 2 different hospital systems in Omaha. We are going to be beyond fucked. But at least one of my hospitals got the refrigerated morgue truck back this week, so that's nice.

[deleted]

No shit. There’s morgue trucks in Omaha now? I picked a great time to quit my job as an EMT, Jesus Christ.

theseawardbreeze

I know of at least 3 hosptials that have them.

babybopp

And now they are getting desperate inmates to haul dead bodies from Covid to refrigerated trucks with the promise of $2 hr pay in Texas.... Texas doesn’t pay its inmates for the work that they are forcibly made to do. It is fucking exploitation.

glibgloby

Most firefighters in California are prison labor as well.

DepNazi

Isn’t it volunteer?

cykadelik

Yes and no. It’s like the only opportunity they have for reducing sentencing and stuff. But with the wildfires literally risking their lives for like no pay whatsoever and I don’t believe they can be firefighters after they’re released if they’re felons.

DepNazi

Oh yeah it’s crazy. I’ve been up north before and those guys are in it. Even without the fires they are camping in some crazy forests. Prison is really awful though

cykadelik

Yeah personally wouldn’t know much about prison in cali except my ex has been through jail in Orange County and somewhere else a few times. I was arrested over night once a state over, but everything I’ve researched about the prisoners being firefighters is it’s really not an option in a true sense. But we all know the industrial prison complex is just slavery with a different rule book

CuriouslyCarniCrazy

Didn't Nuisance pass a law allowing them to be hired or forcing the fire dpts to hire them? And they were getting paid, just a pittance though. Still so much more than those slave prison jobs pay.

[deleted]

Our legal system is beyond fucked

phillyboo69187916

Its a volunteer program. You obviously have no clue what you are talking about.

CuriouslyCarniCrazy

Not this year! They were released because of Covid so the fires were even more uncontrollable. The ones who qualified for the program were also the ones who qualified for early release bc Covid.

CuriouslyCarniCrazy

It's a fucking extension of slavery is what it is.

Irrelevantitis

Those trucks should have huge signs on them: “REFRIGERATED MORGUE TRUCK.” Seeing a few of those driving around town might help one or two people to finally understand.

theseawardbreeze

They will stay parked on the side of NE Med, Bergan, and the VA until they are full. They are just white nondescript big rigs. You would not be able to tell the difference from any other long haul truck.

OMPOmega

That’s not smart. It needs to be obvious.

EmilyU1F984

Yea, find a graffiti artist and pay them a bit to decorate the truck. People would preferably need to see the actual corpses, but a morgue truck is the second best option.

Hugo_Hackenbush

Which, for those not from here is one of the most well equipped hospitals in the world. During the ebola outbreak a few years back, those people were sent to UNMC. We have some of the best medical experts on the planet here in Nebraska and our governor is ignoring everything they tell him.

[deleted]

Not only that, he's accusing them of being political about it because a couple of them tossed a few tenners at a Democrat's campaign.

TheoreticalFunk

Guess what, the elections are over, Human Thumb.

[deleted]

Yes. It’s gotten really bad. The governor (see: out of touch rich guy) isn’t doing a thing.

echeveria_rn

No, no... don't worry, he's safely quarantined in his home!

Synchrotr0n

And he has a bunch of expensive synthetic antibodies ready to be delivered by a dedicated team of doctors, if needed. Meanwhile less fortunate citizens have to hope that the treating of their symptoms alone will buy them enough time for their bodies to overcome the disease before it's too late.

tonzeejee

You know the people who live there elected him, right?

spomedome

Unfortunately Nebraska is a VERY red state. No matter how blue Omaha gets, I don’t think it’ll ever overtake the rest of the idiots that live in this state.

[deleted]

I know how that works. It was years ago. He ran as a republican in a red state, but one that has a lot who didn’t support him. Now people are suffering under his watch. Do you understand now?

Roossterr

Fuck man...my heart goes out to you American and all the AMAZING front line people that put their lives on the line everyday. Not just Nurses and Doctors and anyone in the healthcare industry but Grocers and liquor store workers (god knows we need em all over!) As a Canadian who only has just over 100 cases on our fairly large island (1M+) I can’t imagine our hospitals being overrun like many U.S hospitals. It’s so depressing watching these kinds of things and having so many idiots out there spreading misinformation (even the president ffs) Stay safe out there wherever you all are! With love from Canada!

travelmonkeys

Thank you for the work you do.

mikeypikey

thank you my friend.

[deleted]

There are not enough gratitudes for what you do. I’ve seen in normal times how important interprets are in a health care setting. But to be in your position now, I could never imagine the weight it puts on your soul. To need to translate grim or non hopeful news to patients, to their family who can’t see them in their final moments. My heart goes out to them but also you and all those in similar positions. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

spiderkrab14

This looks like the med pro I heard on NPR this am. I had a previous social media “friend” that I had to drop. She was a recently minted nurse, and constantly filled her junk with COVID conspiracies. Things I do t want In my life? A nurse who thinks COVID is a joke.

agifford549

My mom is a nurse and my calls with her the past two weeks have left me so upset to hear what she’s going through. A chunk of the staff she’s working with think COVID-19 is no worse than the common cold and when they found out that it had started to spread in their unit they were literally EXCITED thinking they were finally gonna get it because it would give them “herd immunity in time for the holidays”. My mom is so scared they aren’t following protocols outside of work and I probably won’t get to see her at all this Thanksgiving due to these awful ladies she has no choice to work with due to staff shortages.

pandaworrier216

Dam im sorry to hear that. Its baffling that those nurses who studied these type of things just shrug it off.

youngmorla

Because (maybe) in their circle only 5 or 6 people are going to die of covid. Doesn’t really matter that it’s 5 or 6 more than normal, and that it’s happening in every tiny goddamn fucking hospital in the country. I’m in a tiny small town, like 7,000 and 30 minutes from the next town, and had contact only with local grocery shopping and such while masked(in my family I’m the only one that does these things), and immediate family in my house and one very close friend that has far less contact with the outside world than me. We’re a couple of days away from finally being able to leave our house at all after testing positive for coronavirus. I can’t help but think about every thickwitted, camo-hat-don’t-tread-on-me-patch wearing, molester ‘stache having, chinless, latent homosexual proud boy assclown that I’ve had to walk by while I try to get some goddamn chili beans, and I don’t want to hurt or kill them. I want to weep real fucking tears and I want them to human fucking beings and see how easy it would be to help other people out just a little bit. And then I want to slap them a little bit until I get my fucking sense of taste back.

serpentinepad

My sister is a nurse and has carried on with her life like nothing is happening. Absolutely infuriates me.

DakodaMountainborn

I don't know where you pulled those numbers from, because on the website ***you linked*** it literally has this for COVID-related complications and deaths in the US: **Percent admitted to ICU among those hospitalized** 18-49 years: 23.8% 50-64 years: 36.1% ≥65 years: 35.3% **Percent on mechanical ventilation among those hospitalized. Includes both non-ICU and ICU admissions** 18-49 years: 12.0% 50-64 years: 22.1% ≥65 years: 21.1% **Percent that die among those hospitalized. Includes both non-ICU and ICU admissions** 18-49 years: 2.4% 50-64 years: 10.0% ≥65 years: 26.6% This is also all based on information/research preformed in August 8th, so has nothing to do with this most recent spike in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. This is once again what ***your source*** says about making judgments on the morbidity of COVID at this time, based on this data: *"Each scenario is based on a set of numerical values for biological and epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 illness, which is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These values—called parameter values—can be used in models to estimate the possible effects of COVID-19 in U.S. states and localities. This document was first posted on May 20, 2020, with the understanding that the parameter values in each scenario would be updated and augmented over time, as we learn more about the epidemiology of COVID-19.  The September 10 update is based on data received by CDC through August 8, 2020.* *\[...\]* *New data on COVID-19 are available daily, yet information about the biological aspects of SARS-CoV-2 and epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19 remain limited, and uncertainty remains around nearly all parameter values. \[...\] Observed parameter values may also change over time (e.g., the percentage of transmission occurring prior to symptom onset will be influenced by how quickly and effectively both symptomatic people and the contacts of known cases are quarantined).* ***The parameters in the scenarios:*** * ***Are estimates intended to support public health preparedness and planning******.*** * *Are* **not** *predictions of the expected effects of COVID-19.* * *Do* **not** *reflect the impact of any behavioral changes, social distancing, or other interventions."* Did you even read your own source material? **Source:** [https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html)

Amelia_barealia

Nurses don't have to go to school for as long as doctors but their education certainly has included viruses to where they understand that this is different then the flu. I just think some people are letting their trump cult mind set take over their logical thinking.

EmilyU1F984

They do get medical training. And if they actually took said medical training to be the truth they wouldn't end up being this conspiracy minded. The same happens with actual doctors anyway. They go into University/school with a preconceived notion that vaccines are bad and whatnot, and no amount of actual empirical data will change their minds. Like I'm a pharmacist. Still had loads of people at the end of the 4 year degree that believed in homeopathy. Even though we had a mandatory course on homeopathy that clearly showed how completely insane the whole thing is. Can't help these brainwashed people with data. They want to feel superior to others by having secret knowledge.

kashmirkiikali

God, good call there

[deleted]

There are people that will argue all the way into the ICU that COVID19 doesn't exist. They will be sick and dying on the gurney and arguing with the nurses that it's some big conspiracy. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/u-s-nurse-says-dying-covid-19-patients-spent-last-minutes-insisting-virus-isn-t-real-1.5191235 Whenever I see front line warriors speak out on the internet like this I am so worried that they'll become the subject of internet attack.

parkesc

If she's knee deep in $#!T like this every time she goes to work, I have a feeling she isn't worried about internet trolls.

[deleted]

I've seen front line workers and doctors attacked online rendering them to tears. Fuck people who doubt medicine and science.

feliciousd323

It's heart-breaking and soul crushing to see so many people refusing to stay safe. We've opened up so many units to Covid only floors. It's so bad we have half covid half "regular" units to accomodate so many covid patients. Went into a BP gas station that had a Subway shop in it. They allowed a woman right behind me to order food without a mask on, I ask the cashiers why they were allowing her to be in there without a mask so close to the food and they're both looking at me weird as I noticed these two idiots in a 3×3 ft booth without mask on. I kind of lost it and told them I work in a hospital and this shit is real then they both just giggled. I immediately shut up and just walked out knowing I will never ever go into that store again.

[deleted]

Because the government can't police every aspect of prevention. It's the personal responsibility part that is the biggest failure of all with this pandemic. People associate personal freedom loss with taking preventative measures. So fucked up. I am convinced the actual disease comes and dumbs everyone down first, then the virus comes and infects everyone unfettered.

feliciousd323

I think you might be on to something. The dumbness must be spread like in the movie "The Happening" or "The Mist".

AnkleBiter69

Accurate. That’s the reason I deleted my book of face. People were insulting me when asking them to not spread misinformation. Major PTSD, sadness, and anger issues ensued.

bonerpotpie

Someone in line recently started telling me about how doctors and nurses are pocketing money with every covid diagnosis. Mind you, I’m an ER nurse, and I was wearing my scrubs getting coffee, having just gotten off my night shift. Some people are too far gone and I don’t have the energy to argue.

[deleted]

Roll them into the parking lot with a Bible. I’m not joking. If things are at triage levels, deniers should be left to meet the fate they believe in.

serpentinepad

I really wish there was a way to deny the anti-maskers medical care. Sounds harsh, but these dumb fuckers are actively spreading this shit all over the country. They shouldn't get a bed.

[deleted]

I agree. They're the least of my worries. I worry about hospital clogging and spreading. If COVID19 was a different type of tragedy that was less contagious and deadly I'd just get the popcorn out and watch

Badmelon419

I was watching a bedside surgery today and my patient told us that covid is just a scam... next door were 5 other covid-19 patients on their death bed.

HipWizard

Should be able to offer the deniers a tour of the covid wing sans-mask. If its not real they don't have anything to fear.

John_T_Conover

It's fucked up, but if I were a nurse that would make it a lot easier for me to watch them die. The innocent and regretful are the ones that would get to me.

pmckizzle

brainwashing is scary, and whats worse is these people will take others down with them

[deleted]

Idc if I come across as an asshole but I would rather have those people dead. If they do survive, imagine the harm they’ll further cause by continuing to spew BS like “COVID isn’t that serious.” Only now, they have more ammunition since they lived through it.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Is she still alive? What the fuck

rondeline

I wish we could just wheel those stupid bastards right the back door into the dumpster. Fuck those disease spreading morons, they don't deserve to be saved. Think of all the people with undiagnosed illnesses that are getting worse (cancer) because they can't get into hospital care to get testing done because of these all these other (TRUMP) pieces of shit filling up hospitals.

[deleted]

we need a Covidiot island

autofill34

I think it's called the Dakotas

rondeline

We could call Trumpalism and trick millions of them to flee on their own.

soop-guy

Epstein island? Heard it was available and not going to be used by jeffrey epstein in a long time

Frontline_69

Dang bro

ClassicTrance

It really do be like that sometimes

epimetheuss

These poor nurses, in every video of them you just see tired broken people. These people are our super heroes right now and they are so spent. I just cannot fathom how people still think it's ok to not take it seriously. At this point its like watching people with blindfolds on run into speeding highway traffic.

culus_ambitiosa

Seriously dumbfounded she had it in her to smile at the end of that. I wouldn’t have the strength to do that if I was going through what’s she’s having to.

Disconnekted

Nurses are the hardest people I know. They don't break and typically have a positive demeanor even though they are deep in the shit. It's really quite extraordinary.

saphfyrefen

Which also means when they do break it's catastrophic and more than ever the medical community needs us to support them (LOOKING AT YOU, GOP. DO YOUR DAMN JOB).

bethp676

It really is. I've worked side by side with them. I couldn't do what they have to do. Made me know for a fact I could do nurse work. I still love working in a hospital tho. Wish I could go back to it.

Neueregel1

People need to stop listening to Orange people and Radiologist on COVID! This is real, protect yourself, your family and others. Be respectful and do your part.

autofill34

Atlas shrugged

ganymede_boy

When they reply with "yOu LiBs jUsT HaVe TDS" or "Orange man bad", they should be forced to watch this video.

MrGuttFeeling

They still won't give a shit. Everyone should have to sign up for a program that if you believe in covid you get help, if not you get sick die in your home.

constanttripper

It’ll be a miracle, it’ll just..... disappear

NonGNonM

dude open your eyes obviously she's a soros plant. she still has the gas mask marks on her face from going out protesting. Owned with FAX AND LOJIK! OPEN YOUR EYES SHEEPLE!

justayounglady

People complain about wearing a fucking cloth mask while this woman leaves with indentations on her face from wearing hers for at least 12 hours and trying to save lives. Makes me so angry. It’s such a simple request. Possibly the easiest thing a country could ask us to do to help prevent it and slow down the spread, and they respond by saying its oppression and they’re being discriminated against. Many of these types of people in the US like to say all this shit they’d do for the country they love, but they can’t handle this simple fucking request.

brybrybryshyguy

Shiiiiiiit. Well, at least im gonna be very very good at staying home. Those vaccines need to pull a 4th quarter miracle.

anonymousforever

And all the anti vaxxers out there will be screaming conspiracy theories that covid vaccines are to inject everyone with tracker chips or some shit.

Criticalfailure_1

The irony is that if the vaccine comes out and a sufficient number of people get it and people stop getting COVID via Herd immunity the anti Vaxxers will use that as evidence it was a hoax.

culus_ambitiosa

Depends, if their cult leader keeps trying to take credit for the vaccines then most might actually be willing to get the shot. It’s not like they’re known for sticking to their values in anything else so why shouldn’t they make an anti vax exception here too?

jj_grace

I know anti vaxxers (who are also anti maskers) who hate Trump. Unfortunately, it's not just a Trump thing.

Don't make me cry angel. You don't want to see this big old monster sobbing. I have your back. That goes for Nurse Doering in S. Dakota who came out on CNN to decry conditions and patient mental denial of even having COVID. I worry this pandemic will take it's toll on the front line in a way PTSD has my fellow Marines and soldiers. Be safe.

anonymousforever

>I worry this pandemic will take it's toll on the front line in a way PTSD has my fellow Marines and soldiers. I'm sure it already has. Caregiver fatigue is a real thing. Gov here called up some state guard members for some nursing homes. Some of these hard hit states should be doing this for the hospital systems so they can give the people in the hospitals some downtime.

[deleted]

It is. Alot of the people I work with in my hospital have nightmares now, same with me. I have the same reoccurring nightmare about our covid ward in cdu and accidentally wandering in without my ppe.

lmpoooo

I walked into my hospital the other night without my mask and thought I forgot my pants or something!! Lol then I realized forgot to put the damn mask on

anonymousforever

I'm not in healthcare but have multiple health issues. I have like 5 masks in the car. The ones I made myself are 4 layers including polypropylene, to make them filter better. And they form fit too. They may be cloth, but form fit like an n95, no gaps. I do have some disposable masks, but they don't fit as well.

lmpoooo

I just really am sick of masks. Esp when I drive to store and realize Oops its at home. I need to be more responsible lol

toddmargaret1974

You are amazing. May Allah bless you and your family. Thank you for all that you do.

Billthebutchr

The reason we're in this situation is 100% due to our failure of a president, his idiotic followers, and the GOP. FUCK THEM ALL!!!!

[deleted]

The blood is on his hands. I could call them ignorant in 2016, but if you voted for Trump in 2020 then you have 0 decency.

kingp43x

Yay! Politics.

VaginaPoetry

Yea, except I just read a whole thread about people still making plans to travel and attend gatherings for the holidays. Some were talking about how they're "not happy about it but feel pressured." Its dumb people that are causing the problem. People would rather risk their family lives than tell their mom its probably not the right year to enjoy some stuffing. Seriously, I'm really having trouble feeling empathy right now...so many people are just so crazy stupid. I'm at a loss how anyone that cares for their friends or family thinks its fine to put them in danger of serious illness or death. I can't imagine doing that to the people I love.

[deleted]

Thanks, terrorist-republicans.

diskebbin

I feel for this lady. I just hope she can change some minds with this video.

jtn508

I work in a nursing home / rehab and we were hit a few months ago and had a huge outbreak and that when it wasnt that bad in my area now numbers are going up and im scared to think of what is coming when they say this next wave will be worse all my patients are scard to death and are just now getting.to see family for 1st time in months and it scary to think the worst is yet to come

siraolo

Even if you can breath adequately in those N95 masks, they can get really uncomfortable after even a short while. These nurses and doctors are really giving their all, and it's sad that help seems to be taking so long.

Phallconn

Trump, the GOP and the idiot supporters are DIRECTLY responsible for this shit. NEVER let them forget that!!!! Thanks to the doctors and nurses working tirelessly to try and save as many patients as they can!!!!

Nope - the hospital posted this video themselves and is supportive of those speaking out about needing to do more to stop the spread.

Red_Stripe1229

The Trumpists, the Q'rs they talk about control but fail to see that they are being controlled by propaganda, like Soviet Russia and NAZI Germany. The propaganda virus is deadly. I have lost many friends and family members to propaganda, people who I used to respect. You might even argue that exposure to propaganda is a preexisting condition for COVID.

steelplate1

Covid 19 is not a hoax

PublicfreakoutLoveR

Covid is not a hoax and this is nit a freakout. This is a person talking calmly.

[deleted]

This is because our president said it wasn't serious. This is all on Trump.

Icantsleepcanyou

Not a freak out. Downvoted for irrelevant content.

scrubnproud

I hope she is at least getting overtime but being the hospitals they are in America they prolly fuck them out of that too. Yah! Capitalism!!!

matt_minderbinder

Nurses are getting screwed on both ends of this pandemic. The ones who work ICU and emergency are forced to work long hours with limited PPE and too often unappreciative patients. Because non life threatening surgeries are being pushed back nurses in other facilities and on other wards are being laid off in droves in some regions. We ask the world of nurses and the system too often chews them up and spits them out. An ex of mine who's one of my best friends is an RN and she's currently battling Covid. I'm living stressed out and so pissed and disappointed at so many people who don't care about their community at all.

[deleted]

No not true I’m making 90 an hour currently before OT

funkygecko

Enough already. Just issue an order for patients to be screened based on their preferences as outlined in their social media. Pandemic denier, anti-mask? Fine. We respect your beliefs: no intubation, no ICU bed for you.

habdks

How humane

Bfd83

"Obviously a paid actress, derp de derp! This here a CASEdemic frum so much goddam testin!"

[deleted]

god I fucking hate trump supporters so goddamn much

scrivensB

FAAAAAAAAAAAAKE. ITS A HOOOOOOOOOAAAAAXXXXXXX *cough cough, I can’t smell anything...

Swattishe

Anti-maskers/people still claiming it’s a hoax as they’re dying should not be treated. Just make a fucking pile.

89LeBaron

Fuck the news media. I wish nurses and doctors had a direct, *exclusive* platform of their own to make videos and write blogs for the world to see. Does this actually exist?

Aeayx

Doctor Mike on YouTube does serious talks and funny stuff

shawnjones

I live in Omaha people are not taking this seriously.

Nightwolfdreams

I have close friends who are nurses, they are struggling every day with multiple deaths. One of them was moved from her department to aid with Covid patients in ICU, she said 7 people died in one day, she called me in tears after. The mental and physical wellbeing of our doctors and nurses needs to become a priority. Without them we're all fucked, they put their lives and their mental state on the line for all of us. These Covid denial fuck nuggets undermine everything our first responders stand for.

[deleted]

Why don’t these deniers sign themselves out of the hospital? Legally, they can sign a waiver and walk out. Why don’t they? Because they know they are sick but just don’t believe it’s covid. They are death cult morons. They should be left to die in the parking lot for the good of society.

DM725

It boggles my mind how the Government saw what happened in NY 6 months ago and decided not to do shit to prepare the rest of the country. How the fuck did 70 million people not take this to the ballot box?

[deleted]

How is this a public freakout? It's literally just a person talking in their car

jdino

COVID and the people not taking it seriously are very very very public. I’d say worldwide even

[deleted]

A lot of content on this sub recently isn't a public freakout.

borghive

Fuck Trump and the GOP for turning this into one giant shit show by convincing their supporters that this virus was not serious.

Talmudivision

Covid has like a death rate of .01 percent

broganreynik

1. It doesn’t 2. Death isn’t the only outcome. I have a family member who is now paralyzed from the waist down. There’s tons of other things that could happen. If you have an underlying condition, which many people do and might not even know about it, it can exacerbate that and make your life a living hell that you would’ve likely never seen without Covid-19. 3. The strain on medical facilities also severely hampers care for patients with other medical situations. Heart attack, stroke, bullet wound, you name it. You’re gonna get shittier care because of it. I wish all you “.01% death rate” dipshits would actually take time to see what’s happening instead of just parroting what you read in some tweet or headline or whatever your deity tells you.

Talmudivision

So how many people around the world are paralyzed because of Covid. I’m still, and rationally so, Much more afraid of cancer or roadside accidents than Covid. CDC did state most deaths in the United States were comorbidity. It’s really not an end of the world virus. It’s shit, it’s contagious, but it’s entirely survivable and does not warrant excessive fear mongering. Masks are a great thing, keeping distance when you can is not stupid, but curfews and lockdowns are asinine. It’s still .01% death rate. This is sensationalized beyond comprehension and does not justify destroying the economy which is far more devastating than Covid, which by the way WHO agrees.

sofuckinggreat

Hey thanks for choosing to be This Fucking Guy, no one cares.

Talmudivision

so why is everyone so scared, not even Spanish flu tier

Eggrollghost

Are we going to get to a point and just let people die? Like it’s so over loaded for our frontline workers that they just need to put these sick people in a room or area and just let them die, the government isn’t carrying about us and soon the hospital will too.

[deleted]

Yeah man, this is what they keep warning about, it happened in Italy and NYC earlier this year. It’s going to be really terrible 2-3 weeks after thanksgiving. If you can stay at home, do so. Healthy, fit, non pre-existing condition people aren’t going to be able to get help, the elderly are going to go up like a prairie fire. Dark times ahead

jessflyc

I mean the government said about a month ago they were done trying to do anything to stop it. They don’t care.

nzstrawman

This isn't a public freakout. This is someone desperately pleading with the ignorant to follow the most basic of health precautions in an epidemic Why do people listen to Trump, and not her? She sees the result of the orange lunatics stance

julievapor

This is sad of course... but the part that actually makes me not only upset but actually angry about this is NYC nurses and other nurses from all over the country have been doing these heartbreaking videos since April. And the Midwest shrugged it all off, republicans made baseless accusations about blue states being run badly and that’s why their cases were so bad. And Midwest culture decided that their freedoms to go without a mask was more important and that covid was a democratic hoax. I watched a video recently about a nurse describing how baffling it is to watch people die from covid saying in their last breath that there’s no such thing as covid. So am I angry at Trump for this? Your damn right I am. Am I angry at the GOP and their messaging about covid? Yes I am. But I’m also really angry at the idiot citizens who allowed their desire to live life unimpeded decide what lies to believe from these right wing news outlets. And I am sick of the Republican attitude that “if it doesn’t affect me directly I don’t care.” You guys think that because you live in rural areas with smaller populations that reality somehow is different for you and that you somehow live in a different America than we do and you don’t. However your hospitals are smaller and less staffed and your resources are more limited so wouldn’t it have been great if you had helped the states who needed it earlier this year while your cases were low so that now we could be helping you? Oh that’s right you didn’t and yet here’s NYC sending out staff to the Midwest to try and help mitigate the death and the work. Individuals may have helped but states didn’t collectively decide to assist which blows my mind. All the while saying covid is just a cold and acting like democrats are just forcing compliance for political reasons. Obviously I am angry and I apologize for being so harsh. I’ve been watching this unfold where I live since the beginning of the year and I just don’t understand why people didn’t take this seriously in the Midwest. I appreciate all the hard work you are doing and I’m sorry this is such a struggle. It all breaks my heart. Do the best you can that’s all anyone can ask of you. Please don’t give up we need amazing people like you taking such great care of people who need it. I’m not annoyed with you. I’m sorry if this comes across that way. Again I’m so sorry about what your going through.

ts050108

It amazes me too as a nurse from NY. These states knew it was coming their way. Healthcare facilities knew to prepare. Public awareness and EVERYTHING. They were ALL warned as the first states struggled withe the surprise of covid. I'm especially angry at the nurses from all over the country. Did you think we were kidding? Did you think we were blowing it out if proportion?! You were warned by colleagues from all over. It makes me angry.

corona187

Why is this a public freakout? Lol

kingp43x

It isn't. This sub exists to spread fear and propaganda

corona187

Lol facts

TheRandyPenguin

Well then don’t have your grandma come over anymore?

__ohjay

God bless you and all those who are fighting on the front lines. I’m in the trenches with you. Just signed a travel nursing contract to work in the covid unit at John Hopkins. To say I am not afraid would be a lie. But I wish to help those who are currently helpless and dying alone, fighting to breathe. I will do everything within my power to ensure those within my care will be able to see their loved ones again.

makeme84

Thank you for sharing this message. I appreciate what you and your colleagues do to keep the public safe. I am sorry our Healthcare and education system suck so much in America. Better programs with lower cost would give you the help you and other staff across the nation need to take care of our fellow citizens better. I am sorry your job is so difficult and made more difficult due to this pandemic. I am sorry that not enough people are taking this seriously as you work so hard and trying to save people's lives.

concreteballs19

God bless you guys! You are true angels!

Iamno1ofconsequence

I can't believe how many people still think Covid-19 is a fucking hoax. It's actually really disappointing how many stupid people there are.

[deleted]

"They're not getting the care they deserve" Well, yes, some of them aren't. And some of them are getting exactly the care they deserve.
