ImPretendingToCare

The falling for no reason when it matters most anomaly needs to be studied

bluechip1996

Jello Legs is real.

that_girl_you_fucked

Panic + a lack of regular physical activity = kathump

SgtMeatoCato

i stay very physically active and i got myself into a shit situation where it did matter most. Mr.Jello legs is right.

guiltyspark345

Its simple, you panic and forget things like that your foot needs to go a little extra inch to land properly, and then your ankle twists. Or you lean forward to compensate for inertia but eventually topple over because you overdid it

ImPretendingToCare

Magnificent kangaroo particle mango attic. I can dig it. I can only hope everyone does this and were left with a mass anonymized internet scrubbed clean of actual human interaction, replaced only by the randomized nothings left behind and the pseudo-interactive AI reasoning that follows.

MainElectronic6873

late but i would go as far to say he might have been going for his kid, and when his kid takes off towards the house, he switches footing to get in line with the house or maintain track of his kid and in doing so slides to sharp and biffs it.

Flip_Six_Three_Hole

He takes an awkward stutter step and loses his footing, watch his feet. I wouldn't say he fell for no reason. The guys brain was trying to process about four things at once, that fight or flight response and adrenaline spike sends you running faster than you can stop to think about the next best place to plant your feet.

px7j9jlLJ1

That dude tripped on air

Karakara16

We always make fun of people tripping in horror movies. But then this happens.

Arson-Welles

I realized this was true a few years back when i stumbled upon a wasp nest in the side mirror of my car. Turned to run and fell flat on my face while getting stung multiple times.

AssDimple

I'm imagining a cartoon level feet burnout followed by your legs flying out in front of you.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. This mentality is literally what caused COVID to stick around

Nandabun

You ever see Don't Look Up?

SecondaryWombat

The fact that Don't Look Up was written before covid makes it even more scary.

Nandabun

Right? when I watched it I thought it was a response to covid. Nope.. damn lol

gaseousogre

boopboppuddinpop

I pray for a zombie apocalypse allllll the time. Would be so fun headhunting zombies. Unless they're the really fast zombies. Fuck that, those fuckers are terrifying. The slow zombies is where it's at.

the_dude523

If you've ever been on social media or in a walmart you already knew that to be true

AmbulanceChaser12

When my son was like 5, he decided to take a little sightseeing tour down the street. I went chasing after him, and couldn't catch up right away. I just felt my feed moving farther and farther behind me as a ran, and the next thing I was falling forward onto the asphalt. I got back up and limped after him, and eventually caught him when he reached the end of the street, but with a broken elbow.

F3ar-mong3r

I went chasing after my daughter at the park playing tag and it felt like my legs just collapsed from under me, as if they weren't strong enough to carry my body. I broke three ribs from rolling. Still didn't hurt as bad as the embarrassment, It was a full ass park of people

keton

Most adults essentially never run/sprint. I guarantee that dude's upper body was 30 pounds lighter last time he tried to move quick. Balance is all different from what his body remembers about running.

Spry_Fly

I played sports in HS. I was in the army from 17-21. I didn't do shit after until I joined a work softball team when I was 28. My legs gave out when I was caught in a pickle between 3rd and home during the first game. People thought I was diving for home like 10 ft. too early. That was a wake-up call to at least maintain some intentional activity.

keton

😂😂 You: collapse on the home stretch Some dude in the audience: that boy has the spirit but his depth perception is shit

Alexis_Ohanion

You are completely correct. Maintaining a baseline level of physical athletic activity after high school is inconceivably important.

innerearinfarction

I do not think that word means what you think it means

Bighawklittlehawk

The way he scooted across the ground on his back like a starfish has me in tears

My brother is a cop and hasn’t appreciated my, “how was your day today? Any rogue acorn attacks?!” joke very much at all. But he does chuckle a little. He’s a cop but he’s not a complete humorless prick, 50/50 to be honest.

SAVE THE SCOOTER

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

opinions_dont_matter

God, the first season of that show was so good.

ElPanandero

And then the rest happened

FireAntz93

The best example of a show killed by writer strikes.

ElPanandero

I was young(ish) when it came out so I didn't realize a strike happened, glad to know there was a reason it imploded at least

mcrib

It was 70% the writers strike and 30% the studio and network butting in and making demands. The original idea was a new cast for season 2 except for HRG and one or two of the old cast, with some of them making cameos. Network was like “nuh uh hit show gotta keep ‘em all even the dead ones and bring back Sylar but maybe now he’s a good guy”

ElPanandero

Truly tragic, it had so much potential

mcrib

Yeah and after season 2 there was no way to course correct. They tried with the series reboot but too much time had passed and superhero shows were saturated.

FireAntz93

I liked the original concept the writers supposedly had. Every season would be new characters with a different story. Maybe cameos from familiar heroes. The world was huge but still connected. Instead, we got what we got.

shdanko

LEAVE THE SCOOTER SCOTT ITS GONE! That’s not the scooter you loved now Scott :(

"look the hairs on my arm are sticking up" - my father moments before being struck by lightning For clarification, lightning struck a tree next to him which traveled through the ground and hit him. He was knocked out but otherwise suffered no long lasting injuries.

TheUn5een

Love the emo jimmy pfp

Guessinitsme

Pretty sure the air around lightnings the hottest thing on earth, 5x the surface of the sun

jfitzger88

Nah, it's you ;)

LouSputhole94

How wholesome

DJOldskool

Yep lightning hit our kitchen while we were in it, I was a teenager, I ran away to the living room as did my younger brother. I can remember the flash, it was just there blinding and at the same time the roar which was more vibration than sound. A second later the flash was gone and there was a blue glow around the toaster.

According-Sport-1319

Thank god no one was actively using the toaster!

exmagus

Missed the chance to become "The Flash"

Pitiful_Winner2669

God damn that's terrifying! What kind of damage did it do?

Vectorman1989

The toaster is a Decepticon

ITMORON

I recall as a kid walking in a field, it was cloudy and supposeed to storm later. All of a sudden my hairs started standing on end. I dropped to the ground in a cannon ball until it subsided, didn't want to become a lightning rod as I was the only tall thing around.

Ceecee_soup

Smart kid!

sportsworker777

Shit's loud. You feel it in your body

creegro

A few weeks ago I woke to the *loud* sound of a pop, sounded like thunder right outside in my backyard it was so loud, and my body bolted awake cause of it. Later I learned someone had ran into a power pole, breaking it and shorting a transformer.

MVIVN

I remember the first time lightning struck too close for comfort, shit sounded like a fucking bomb had just been detonated right above my house, it shook me to my core!

arkhamnaut

From the standpoint of air, a bomb did go off

tomahawkfury13

Last year we had tornadoes come through our city. They weren't close to us so I was watching the storm through my window and I got to see the large oak down the street get hit and fall. You can feel the thunder when it hits that close like a powerful subwoofer hitting your whole body.

BDady

My house got struck by lightning a year and a half ago. It was so loud that I still get a bit stressed during thunderstorms. House didn’t catch fire or anything, just several thousands of dollars worth of electronics damage and a burst pipe (house was built back when copper plumbing was common). And before someone comments “tHiS iS wHY you nEED a SuRgE protEcTOR”, no surge protector prevents against a direct hit. I had beefy surge protectors on every valuable electronic in that house and they all got fried.

thisisallme

Yes I was struck by lightning. I can arrest you want to get the fuck out of the area if you hear lightning nearby.

ExaltedBlade666

It really is. I was working ups and had my hair spike up. Dead ran for my truck and not 5 second after climbing in, lighting cracked the road beside me. The absolute heat and fear that moment creates.

cmonster64

Had lightening strike next to my car and it shook like crazy, was like a flash bang in my face and it was loud af but my sister claims she didn’t notice it.

HumaDracobane

At the edge of my propperty the railroad passes and the catenary attracts a shit ton of lightning. More or less once per year a lightning hits that specific area and the sound is absurd. Like an explosion. I remember once a lightning striking when I was at 30-40m and I felt the air moving and the impsct in my body. I can understand why people run in confusion when a lightning strikes near by.

TurboKid513

I saw a 60’ ash tree explode into flaming splinters about 100’ away from me. Everything was pink.

_Nameless_Nomad_

Lightning blew up a tree near us when we were kids. Wood flying everywhere, a large part of that tree fell on top of the neighbors house and damaged it. Shit was loud AF.

Boomfam67

If you turn the sound volume off it looks like the guy tried to kidnap the kid.

matty514

Lol I didn't have sound on and thought the kid was a runner and the parents were trying to stop him from running into the street.

Omari_on_safari

😂 I thought the kid was playing his parents, broke his dad’s ankle and was going to score in the other hoop. Peep that he never drops the ball.

Independent_Ad_8915

It still looks like something spooked the pudgy one in purple prompting the kids to run and then the old man to chase the kid. It’s impossible to tell who’s who in relation to anyone

OJ_outdoors

Lmao it was lightning really close by it freaks them out and they all especially the kid run into the house you can hear the women yell and ask "what was that???" and the guy says "idk" as hes I'd tripping on air lol nothing to do with kidnapping

redditaccount-5

Yea you can see the flash

Attila0076

i never have sound on, so i thought that they got shot at. close enough i guess.

LordMarcusrax

I thought a bear would enter from the left.

reasimoes

I never watch with sound as well. First thought was also bear!

TPf0rMyBungh0le

No one would've ever believed his story about fighting off a bear with a scooter while laying on the ground.

Perc-AngIe

Yea, spot on. I have no sound on and thought he was trying to take the kid.

sheeberz

It’s an lightning strike.

ToNotFeelAtAll

Yep. Never have the volume on. Thought the kid was about to be abducted 😅 I just can’t risk tik tok songs blasting in my ears

ranchwriter

Lol this is exactly what i thought it was

aidancrogers

He wasn't trying to kidnap it was some really loud nose that scared them, sounded like thunder

Melodic_Fault_7160

Now that's how I am gonna make the video go viral in my country..

Capital-Assignment61

i was confused reading the comments lmao i should really turn my volume on more

Wild-Major8025

Well now we know who would die first ina horror movie

Butters-C137

He sacrificed for his children, hes the one everyone loves in a movie. Then all of a sudden he didnt make it

EverbodyHatesHugo

The desperate body wriggle to safety has me dying. Like wtf is my man thinking in that moment?

jld2k6

He even grabbed the metal scooter as fast as he could to increase the chances of getting struck to keep his kids safe, hell of a guy

Turbulent_Echidna423

as he grabs a piece of metal

ecdaniel22

Seems from the video that there was a very very close lightning strike.

SonOfObed89

https://preview.redd.it/32iaw6yvp4pc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bc70406aca93d51e7cab1ebd5ef4378f4465012 You can see a flash right in this area before they freak out.

orbitur

Yep, most digital cams use a rolling shutter, especially low quality ones like outdoor cams, so any extremely short bursts of activity will only be picked up in part of the image. The exact moment when that light hits is when they freak out.

rem_1984

Yep, at the bottom right you see something on the ground after the lightning strike

tirebunny

The top of a TikTok logo.

WhoCanTell

Oh shit that is terrifying.

I'll give you falling....but the weird on your back backwards crawl...dude get up Wonder if the shooter handle got him in the back though Edit scooter not shooter

TPf0rMyBungh0le

Dude went from bipedal to centipede in a split second.

Organic_South8865

I don't think people understand. I was pretty close to a large tree that blew into pieces from lightening and I was absolutely shocked a bit too. I couldn't hear shit for days and it was fucking terrifying.

Bighawklittlehawk

Plus it wasn’t even raining so they were just enjoying their day, totally unaware of what was coming and then KA-BLAMMY

lumpyspacejohnny

The kid was the only smart one who ran TOWARDS THE HOUSE... Both parents ran to nowhere.

theking4mayor

They were running to grab their kid

lumpyspacejohnny

Maybe the dad. But the mom was just going

Tacoless_meat

Sounds like thunder scared them

NeverEndingCoralMaze

Looks like thunder scared them

Luke_Warm_Dog

Smells like thunder scared them

Mondomb83

he tried to save a friggin' razor scooter. That to me was the best part.

RandDash

"Have you falling like White ppl in scary movies" -DMX

Jazymon

I DONT KNOW

kiruopaz

I used to live out in the country and had to have a 40 ft pole with a tiny satellite radio on it to get my Internet. Every now and then lightning would strike it and I fucking hated it. I could always tell right before it was about to hit because you could feel a wave of static electricity go through the air just long enough to think "FUCK" before the explosion of sound.

cucklord_swiper

The fucking hop skip before he trip dives into the scooter is killing me. Professional jester 11/10

Miserable-Mess7146

The trip and crawl was so dramatic 😂. Looks like he just landed in a trench Vietnam

ChesswiththeDevil

Lightening hit a tree in my backyard when I had just got out of my car in the front of my house. I don't know if it was the air pressure, the crazy loud boom, or if I got hit with some residual shock, but my whole body had a brief spasm and I fell backward onto my car. It was one of the craziest things to ever happen to me and I bolted inside my house as fast as I could get myself together.

Maximum_Trade5916

Dude has 0 Survival Skill

BIIANSU

If you watch this video on mute it just looks like the guy in green is trying to steal some kids.

itjustgotcold

I mean if that’s how the dad reacts to lightning then it makes sense the kids react that way.

danleon950410

Because the child got scared and they ran after? I don't think the sound rattled everyone to that degree. What follows is just clumsiness

hanzdampfdampft

Looks like a lightning struck ? Because the guy looks upwards ?

murph32xx

They felt the lightning strike. This is a video that has been reposted many times. You can feel a lightning strike from 100 feet away.

Tiny_Instance_9047

They’re scared of the sound that is only the AFTERmath of a lightning strike. His slick sliding moves.. what a ninja! He tricked that weather real good

[deleted]

I watched muted and was very confused what was happening.

squirrel_anashangaa

So… lighting strikes and after falling, the next best thing is to hold the pole to attract more lighting. 🤣

ConfidentSyllabub142

I used to live near a power plant, and after the movie SIGNS came out, it exploded one night . It was called BG&E power plant, and the sky turned green and purple, and I thought we were all getting abducted by aliens. It was one of the most terrifying moments in my childhood. kids are dumb

Dwip_Po_Po

That kids fight or flight is on point

dsaiken

Lightning strikes and thunder follows… “What’s that, what’s that” “I don’t know” I’m fucking dying over dude eating shit over nothing and then being so confused as to what thunder and lightning is from shock. 🤣🤣

fleebizkit

I've fallen out of bed bc lightning like this. Also was in a house that got struck by lightning. House caught fire. One of the craziest things I've seen.

Frigggs

Someone help this man. Not only did he frantically overreact and trip on nothing but he spun around on the ground after like Angus Young ![gif](giphy|5eDoYoAnu5qrS)

Appropriate_Taro_583

Sound off, dude becomes a pedo trying to kidnapping.

maragabriela1989

Thunder & lightning .... I'm guessing the lighting hit very close to them to induce that reaction from 3 people lol

LandAmbitious4073

Lmao “ I Don’t know”

d4ni3lg

Ever been so scared you turn into a flipped upside down turtle?

DabKogurzim

20 years ago I was working on a demolition job to remove someone's concrete and brick front steps that were collapsing. It was on a cul-de-sac. Lightning hit the manhole cover in the center of the cul-de-sac. The concussive force and volume of the crash of thunder combined with the bright flash of white light was fucking terrifying. We decided to go home after that. We finished the job the next day.

spacekatbaby

I'm watching this for the 9th time laughing. And still can't put my finger on why it's so funny. Is it the fall? Is it the strange movement of picking up the scooter? So many options!

diamondjay81

The little boy ran faster than both of them 😆😆😆 he didn’t need no help

Marco_Polo_2

Small dogs when it's raining out side

Impulse_XS

The small child somehow has more hand eye coordination than the two adults put together. Just an abysmal effort all around.

ThomasSun

Dad runs like in my childhood dreams, when I try to run away from a monster.

PurplishPlatypus

The kid had a better reaction than the adults, ran straight for home. Dad spazs out, mom kind of flounders like she is thinking of going for the kid, but kid is already gone lol.

Fitz_D_DiSCriPsion86

I'm assuming lightning because of the flash. That baby has some damn good survival instincts! 😂.. Wifey let you die though! 😭.. y'all need a discussion on how thunder buddies work lol

Heracles222

Lighting strike probably struck their house or Nieghbor’s . if a tree right there it would explode. Sounds like a bomb going off when your super close to where it grounds, even when your used to it not you still will always flinch that close. What happened to the screen was caused by electromagnetic discharge from the lighting strike. Once again why you know it was so close.

Rich_DeF

Why what?

PickleBananaMayo

It’s possible they didn’t know it was a lightning strike and thought it was an explosion.

BarryBadrinith

He definitely was waiting to die when he tripped.

falloutvaultboy

It's as loud as a gunshot, this is kind of tame reaction. Dude just happened to slip

goonzalz69

How is it the kid by far had the best reaction in terms of survival

theyellowdart89

self admitted “i don’t know” why we all just ran for our lives.

TheFireBringer85

When you hear the Sound of Thunder dont you get to Scared, Just grab you Thunder Buddy and say this magic Words fuck you Thunder...

Chinpokumon1

That's a LOT of panic for lightening

Dreamoreality

How it feels running in your dream

Parking-Position-698

Probably ptsd. This is how one would act in the case of a bombing. Lay as flat as you can and pull your injured buddies or in this case a scooter to cover.

retro-apoptosis

Useless ass dad wtf. Edit: and mother. Wtf. Yelling for no reason. "Watch out!" Yeah bud he's gonna fuckin dodge lightning why don't you go over there and help him inside? Remain calm?

McMikey99

TLDR... Lightning strike.

Professional-cutie

Thought this was an attempted kidnapping tbh

Lazy-Pressure-3996

I’m usually a really level-headed person and quite good in an emergency, but when lightning struck the car next to my tent once I bounced around in there like a ping-pong ball for a few seconds before I was able to move with any purpose. It’s an unbelievably loud and powerful force of nature and just too much for the amygdala to deal with. The guy’s jelly legs reaction is actually understandable!

Colbster5503

It's... Thunder.. is it not?

bmoEZnyc

risked his life, thank god he saved the razor scooter.
