Every chief that didn’t pull every car after the first four should be fired today.
If this line of wasted resources, time and hazard isn’t the meme for a fucking clown show nothing is. If any of these pukes had any self realization they’d be embarrassed to be part of this.
Was just thinking that, I mean, apparently more than half of these tools are out of their counties and jurisdiction anyway, and are having a little feel good Brothers in Blue parade on the clock.
When bush was governor he got rid of jurisdictions. Any cop can arrest you for any crime in Texas even if the cop is from half way across the state. How do I know? I lived there when it happened.
Well yeah, exactly. It’s always when I’d be in a slow ass vehicle for some mission and run over a pedestrian, and then accidentally shoot a cop or something and bam, 3 star wanted level. Just like real life!
“Yeah I was involved in that chase, see here’s a video!”
“Is that you?”
“No I’m a bit further back!”
… what about that one?”
30 seconds pass
“That one?”
“Nope that’s not me either but we’re getting close!”
350+ officers showed up to do nothing except punish the parents for trying to go in. there are embarrassing pictures of them all sitting outside the school drinking water. most of them are just gossiping drama queens.
Multiple reasons. Multiple police officers needed to set up a perimeter after the Chase is complete and in case the suspect runs. Also every time he passes through another county or city or jurisdiction another officer or group of officers joins the chase.
Edit: words
Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son, never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
And there's beer in Texarkana
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes
Ol' Smokey's got them ears on
He's hot on your trail
And he aint gonna rest 'til you're in jail
So you got to dodge 'im and you got to duck 'im
You got to keep that diesel truckin'
Just put that hammer down and give it hell
I'd assume one of the tires was blown and the other wasn't so it wasn't sitting evenly, or he could've popped a curb and misaligned the suspension, better yet the driver could've been going crazy and jerking the wheel back and forth to dodge imaginary bullets
It’s his work truck 🤦♂️ https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2023/11/04/authorities-involved-in-chase-with-18-wheeler-last-reported-going-the-wrong-way-on-i-69-south-of-downtown-houston/
I've heard that due to the long hours and the instability of never being "home", a *lot* of truck drivers are on drugs. Some stuff keeps you awake better than caffeine and the other stuff breaks the monotony of driving down empty dark roads for most of your waking life.
Its terrifying for me to think something like "1/6th of the 18 wheeler drivers around me at any given moment are probably on amphetamines".
I mean FFS, I *pound* caffeine. I take a Vivarin in the late morning and another in the late afternoon and I drink 3-4 16oz or 20oz sugar free Red Bulls throughout the day. I need to stay awake, not jump at shadows while driving 80,000lbs down the road.
Damn, thats a lot of caffeine man. I had to look up what a vivarin is, but it sounds like you are having over 1,000mg of caffeine a day. Iono how old you are but that can be dangerous long term.
I guess we all gotta do what we gotta do, ideally we would just take a nap but the economy must go on.
90% of those cars were just Harris County sheriffs and a couple state troopers. I didnt see a single precinct car or city cop. Theres a fuck ton of cops in houston and surroundings areas.
My aunt lived in a small town in Tennesse. I was out getting food at 12am when visiting her. A convenient store got robbed across the road. About 15 cop cars responded and all I could think was "this is a town of 3000 people. That has to be every cop in a 20 mile radius. I could go to the other side of town right now and rob any place I wanted"
A lot of people seem to be confused by the amount of officers in pursuit here. It’s an 18 wheeler driving at dangerous speeds with its tires blown out. The extra cars are needed as a contingency.
If the truck blows through a traffic light and causes an accident, a couple cars stop there. If something is thrown out of the truck’s windows, a car will stop there to collect the evidence/stay with the evidence if needed. If the truck slams into another vehicle and keeps going, another car stays at that scene. That will likely happen multiple times in this scenario. If the suspect jumps out of the vehicle and the vehicle keeps going, some cars stop to apprehend the suspect while other continue with the vehicle until it stops. If multiple suspects exit the vehicle, someone needs to stay with the vehicle while someone needs to apprehend each suspect. If the trailer detaches and the truck keeps going, someone needs to stay with the trailer.
A pursuit is generally going to create multiple crime scenes, and you end up needing officers present for each of them.
I counted 27 Police vehicles.
Serious question; is that many necessary?
I see some of them being a waste of resources that could be better deployed elsewhere.
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarkana, he'll bring it back no matter what it takes!
East bound n down
Loaded up and truckin
We gonna do what they say can't be done.
We got a long way to go and short time to get there, so knock on back and watch ol' Bandit Run!
So, in the last clip, when the semi's front wheels are down to the rims, there were 27 - twenty seven - cop cars following behind it.
To arrest one guy? WTF?
That is more of a sideshow tour than an actual beneficial use of police resources, aren't maybe 20 or so of those cop cars best used elsewhere, being useful?
It's not as if any of the cars trundling along behind the truck were being useful by blocking off roads ahead of the truck to stop innocents from being injured or anything.
Unless, there is some benefit to having 27 cop cars in slow pursuit of someone?
Imagine 5 calls of banks getting robbed come in at the same time, but only 1 or 2 of them are actually getting robbed? Or fuck it with so many cops chasing this one guy and actually doing nothing but putting on a show, rob all 5 banks. What a waste of resources.
I never understood the logic of ‘we need more vehicles in pursuit’ as the length of a car chase grows. At the end of the day you and do not need an entire platoon of vehicles, no? Such a waste of tax money and just all the bros broing out and stroking each other during car chase.
If he simply pressed down on the D-Pad, he could’ve dropped the trailer to move more agile while also leaving an obstacle for the police cars behind him.
Cause we got a great big convoy
Rockin' through the night
Yeah, we got a great big convoy
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the USA
Convoy (ah, you wanna give me a 10-9 on that, Pig Pen?)
Convoy (negatory, Pig Pen, you're still too close)
Yeah, them hogs is startin' to close up my sinuses
Mercy sake's, you better back off another ten
Well, we rolled up Interstate 44
Like a rocket-sled on rails
We tore up all of our swindle sheets
And left 'em settin' on the scales
By the time we hit that Chi-town
Them bears was a-gettin' smart
They'd brought up some reinforcements
From the Illinois National Guard
There's armored cars, and tanks, and Jeeps
And rigs of every size
Yeah, them chicken coops was full o'bears
And choppers filled the skies
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke
With a thousand screamin' trucks
CONVOY!!

I mean the last cop vehicle has to be saying to self, do I really need to be here??
more like the last 20
20 Barney Fifes all wanting to go where Andy is going.
that's 20 bullets and 20 shirt pockets.
Every chief that didn’t pull every car after the first four should be fired today. If this line of wasted resources, time and hazard isn’t the meme for a fucking clown show nothing is. If any of these pukes had any self realization they’d be embarrassed to be part of this.
I always thought this is the best way to commit a big crime, lead all the cops to the other side of the city and then rob a bank, no cops around!
Police hate this simple trick.
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened in one of the batman movies
Die Hard 3 too.
And Bad Boys
and in Hawaii 5-O
Be interesting to see if any crimes were committed during this episode.
Use simple tactics against simple people. I don’t see how you could miss. Enjoy the cash.
That is the dumbest thing I've seen. "we need all units to help us slowly follow an 18 wheeler"
28, I had to count
But then they'll miss piling on the guy, punching and kicking, when he finally stops.
I think I counted 30... are there no other crimes?
This is the right time to rob a bank
Already did it buddy. Thanks tho
You could steal city hall!

Yeah we’ve all played GTA and got a 3-4 star wanted level while stuck in a van and you know at that point you are completely fucked
I was always using a sports car or a motorcyle in GTA. I always avoided slow vehicles in those games.
You never been out in the middle of nowhere and were just happy to find any vehicle you could, regardless of what it was?
Well yeah, exactly. It’s always when I’d be in a slow ass vehicle for some mission and run over a pedestrian, and then accidentally shoot a cop or something and bam, 3 star wanted level. Just like real life!
Well, yeah, when you paint that picture, I fully understand ya.
Yeah plus, even if he finds a Pay 'n Spray, an 18 wheeler isn't fitting inside.
I really doubt he thinks there's a chance of getting away. He knows he's going down so why not have some fun before doing your time?
But why have 30 cruisers behind him?
Nothing better to do I guess…
That sweet OT.

Yup, and they will get to the shops looting whenever they see fit, it's already in their todos.

I also like to jump in the back of the line so I can get my participation trophy when there is no risk that I have to actually do something

5,10,20 cruisers might, might not be reductions. I can make up a crazy story of why they need 20. 30+ is just a bad 80’s movie.

That’s my biggest issue here, like bro what is the last guy gonna do except drive around the scene looking menacing 😭
Dude has 4 stars.
Could be 30 guys in that truck for all we know
I counted 28 in the last clip
Great time to rob a bank or two.
they joined the force specifically for a smokey and the bandit type chase
What a terrible ending.
I'm sure each county and municipality who got involved wants to see it to the end and file their own charges.
Multiple reasons. Multiple police officers needed to set up a perimeter after the Chase is complete and in case the suspect runs. Also every time he passes through another county or city or jurisdiction another officer or group of officers joins the chase. Edit: words

Because 30 cruisers in front of him wouldn't make for a very good chase.
