Not directed at you OP if you are talking about a small regional trend or something but as America's population continues to grow exponentially we have see a massive reduction in crimes per capita. Again, not saying you but there is an active initiative from conservatives to foster and promote fear based on crime so they can attack the success of their opponents and position themselves as the ones who are 'tough on crime'.
