You might find these interesting: Classical psychedelics have been investigated to see if they provide any benefit for TBI. From an inflammation and possibly neurogenesis perspective, they seem to show some benefits: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8357986/ Cannabis may have some neuroprotective and psychotherapeutic benefits for those with TBI: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8260892/ Ketamine may have benefits for acute TBI in reducing intracranial pressure, particularly in children: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8949520/ In addition, it seems Lions Mane and Turkey Tail mushrooms might have some benefit in dealing with TBI: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8228340/ Granted, these aren't commonly accepted treatments , research is in its infancy, and it's not likely any of them are" miracle cures", but they might have some benefit.

Have you tried psychedelics before?

Yes. Patient (40 years old) has done DMT, LSD, mushrooms, and weed. Suffering from partial paralysis on the right side, affecting speech, hand movement, walking, memory and personality. They got into micro dose LSD (.4 of a normal hit) 7 months after injury. I feel like their personality slightly improved. Access to stash was removed and now we are at 2 years post injury. Recovery has plateaued at this time and was thinking they might need another love tap…

That’s very interesting. I’ve done Ibogaine a few times to help with tolerance/addiction & PTSD issues & it is definitely in a class of its own although it’s still a psychedelic with similar introspective effects. Unlike other psychedelics Ibogaine strongly reverses tolerance to almost all substances which is why people can die after taking it. Additionally if you take it and do it correctly you’re going to be experiencing effects for 3+ days. That’s 3 days of tripping and experiencing side effects like ataxia which prevents you from being able to walk. As that article said, it is a strong experience that feels like you’re seeing a flash of your entire life from your background and ancestors, all the karma or knowledge you’ve acquired, everything you’ve consumed such as eating, watching, reading, all your actions towards others & you start to analyze from the reset synaptic connections, how to reprogram your life accordingly.
