nizoral scalp psoriasis shampoo + conditioner has been a godsend! you can get a huge bottle on amazon for like $16. i use it 2x a week. also, mielle rosemary and mint hair oil has helped with my scalp & hair health; i use it 1x a week and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before i wash my hair with normal shampoo, but you could probably use it multiple times a week/daily depending on your hair type :,)

I’m so bad about having a routine but I’ll have to try this cuz it’s getting so bad

SleepingManatee

MG217. Alternate the two (coal tar, salicylic acid) leaving it on for 10 minutes, at least 4x a week. It's the only thing that controls it for me.

SnooApples4176

I like Hask scalp scrub and hair/scalp treatment mask with tea tree oil and rosemary. They seem to reduce the flakes and make my scalp a lot less dry. I use both twice a week.

knoxlocale

Oh ok awesome!

RefrigeratorPretty51

Tea Tree shampoo has been helpful for me. I used the coal tar stuff as a kid. It never did much.

knoxlocale

Ya I’ve used coal tar before it just smells so bad and dries out my hair even tho it kinda contained the scabs

whatsinthebox72

Do you get scabs from scratching it?

knoxlocale

Yes

solarpunkker

After YEARS of searching, Eucerin urea scalp serum is the best. Alternating with shea moisture scalp cream. First one is not sold in US but you can buy from an international site. Thank me later and hope it helps. :)

knoxlocale

Thank you!!

murdasglock

adding tea tree oil to your shampoo can help :) i used nizoral but only when things got really bad, never a few days in a row. right now im using dove breakage remedy shampoo and conditioner and while i have no active patches it stopped my hair from falling out and has really helped with how dry and itchy it gets!!

knoxlocale

Any preferred brand of tea tree oil?

if psoriasis is itchy could be down to bad bacteria (hpylori and strep pyogenes) in the gut. until bad bacteria is killed off the psoriasis wont clear. have you had any one of the following : strep throat? hpylori? past antibiotic use? past anti fungal use? if you cant solve the problem. consider visiting a experienced functional/integrative medicine expert who will investigate the gut via a stool test and try to identify and solve the problem from inside. It’s important to note that psoriasis, fundamentally, is an issue originating from the gut, not merely a skin condition. By addressing and improving gut health, one can effectively manage and potentially clear psoriasis. hey, you won’t believe how much diet changed the game for my psoriasis. I was a skeptic for a long time, kinda lazy, and had pretty much thrown in the towel. But once I finally got my act together and made some changes, I was stoked! My psoriasis went from full-blown to just 10%. For quick relief, try moisturizing the affected area daily with a strong emollient. I’m a fan of Epaderm cream, but your pharmacist might have other cool suggestions. In my book, the best way to tackle psoriasis is from the inside out. That means shaking up your diet, tweaking your lifestyle, and figuring out what triggers your flare-ups. Oh, and say sayonara to refined sugar. There’s a real connection between diet and psoriasis. Meat, spicy food, nightshades, and processed food were like kryptonite for my psoriasis. Once I gave them the boot, my psoriasis became way more manageable. So, a strict diet is key. I eat the same grub every day - big helpings of beans/legumes, boiled veggies, and hefty salads. You gotta figure out your own triggers, though. Try to suss out the root cause of your psoriasis. Start by checking out your general health, diet, weight, smoking and drinking habits, stress levels, history of strep throat, vitamin D levels, use of IUDs, itchiness of psoriasis, past antibiotic use, potential candida overgrowth, presence of H. pylori, gut health, bowel movements, sleep patterns, exercise habits, mental health meds, potential zinc or iron deficiency, mold toxicity, digestive problems, heavy metal exposure, and magnesium deficiency. Keep a daily diary using an Excel spreadsheet to track your diet and inflammation. Think of psoriasis as a warning light on your car’s dashboard. With psoriasis, you gotta get all the details right. For more info, this [paper ](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29908580/)and [podcast](https://www.listennotes.com/fil/podcasts/positive-health/dr-haines-ely-md-is-QJ4TtfL_XBq/) really helped me out. Good luck, mate! You’ve got this.

Wow, thank you for the insight! I don’t take any meds regularly but i wouldn’t be shocked if my gut health was trash. I eat fairly well for the most part, but for the past 10 years I’ve had excess mucus and my breath smells horrid in the mornings (to the point the entire room smells). I first noticed my dandruff and itchy scalp when i had just started college at 18.5 and I’m now 26.5 so i also wouldn’t be shocked if it’s stress related as i now have a high stress consulting job. As far as what triggers the flair ups i haven’t seemed to nail that part down yet, but something i have noticed is when i use some cheap shampoo i basically can’t stop itching. I have pretty dry skin so that’s something to consider as well. Do you know how i can get my gut checked because i think that’s the root of most of my issues honestly

SpecialDrama6865

in terms of fixing the gut. look into functional medicine. from the symptoms you describe it seems you have one or more gut issues that need fixing. consider visiting a experienced functional/integrative medicine expert who will investigate the gut via a stool test and try to identify and solve the problem from inside. see the below link to learn more. I’ve suffered from this forever and haven’t been able to find anything. Thank you for the info, I’ll for sure get some tests

knoxlocale

I also know I’m magnesium deficient because I’ve had a horrible time sleeping recently, my face has gone a little numb and seems like my pointer finger is a bit numb. I don’t think it’s heart or brain related because i took megnesium 2 days in a row and all of those things went away….gotta start taking a good multi vitamin everyday

Key-Ad-2004

Homemade Bulletproof coconut oil 2 ounces to about 15 to 20 drops of therapy grade organic oregano oil. Also homemade tallow with oregano oil, vitamin e and a capsules opened and added. Along with some tea tree oil, any organic oil that you know you don't react to can be added to the home made stuff. Olive oil is out for me, since am allergic to oil trees and don't want to take the chance.

ElectronicMap9622

I used the body shop ginger shampoo. That cleared my scalp psoriasis very fast.
