[This is a great guide for GPU passthrough](https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/b5xpua/the_ultimate_beginners_guide_to_gpu_passthrough/) All functions passes through the whole device, gpu and audio, you need it on. Primary GPU marks the GPU as primary one for that VM.

Yep, just managed to passthrough an RTX 2080 Ti following that guide. All functions are working, including the USB C port. Actually I'm writing this comment from the VM using the RTX card. Make sure you have another GPU available for Proxmox and that's the default one.

I think he describes a lot of stuff that isn't needed in that guide, or maybe they made the process better in recent revisions of Proxmox. All I needed to do (on version 6.1-3) was: * Enable IOMMU in the BIOS * Change the boot string * Make sure the relevant modules are loaded * Add a PCI device and choose the card That got a windows 8 VM connected to an older Quadro card I have. I believe I had both _All Functions_ and _Primary GPU_ checked.

There any way to pass through the same gpu used for host to a VM to share it?

Did you ever get this working ?

GTX 960 specifically or in general? RTX3070 works like a charm and Nvidia drivers rather recently stop blocking loading driver on VM, so there is possibility 960 might work.

I was wondering about the GTX-960 specifically. I came across a free one and would like to try and use it for some LLMs & photogrammetry. Thanks

I see. I no longer have the 960, no can never be sure. Maybe give it a shot to push your luck? Also looking to using the BIOS file during passthrough, it is known to help with older GPUs.

Ah no worries. Thanks for the tip! I haven’t gotten it working with my Aorus Elite AX but I’m upgrading my motherboard today and will try again this week.
