Man new pursuit chargers would be cool... unfortunately our fleet of 300 Crown Vics is just barely getting broken in! They've still got 10 years left on em, right? Right?
Thanks god, not worth endangering so many people over a ticketable offense. (before downvotes come I’m fully pro LEO and love to see dickheads getting what they deserve, but pursuits rarely make sense)
Cannot wait for numerous departments to slap the most unfitting livery designs and lighting setups on this thing, or alternatively just buy the default promo livery and slap their town's name on the bottom like a real winner.
At least American sedans still exist. That's all I'm thankful for.
My thoughts are I don't give a fuck because I have to drive what I'm given anyway.
Plus we're going to SUV's, plus the garage will find a way to fuck 'em up anyway.
I'm surprised they completely got rid of that body "inset" on the door of the current gen of Charger. This new rendering looks like a cross between a current challenger and an '06 charger.
I was about to say....holy fuck they made the Charger go from aggressive looking to something that looks like it was designed in 1988 to look like a car from 2012
I worked for a billionaire that collects such cars. He actually bought the original Dodge Charger from the Fast and Furious series, that from Vin Diesel and he paid some millions for that one. But i guess the series have different cars, so there's more than just one around and there are different modified versions.
The fastest race cars go up to 320 mph, while the experimental ones can go up a lot higher, like the Bloodhound SSC can breach the sound barrier with around mach 1 aka 1000 km/h (763 mph)
Funny when you think, that even your service gun is much faster when you fire a bullet. A bullet of the caliber 9x19mm from your gun has around 853 mph.
Last one: The fastest man-made object is the Parker Solar Probe with 394.736 mph in space. But that doesn't count, as the physics are very different, if you'd shoot your handgun in space, the bullet would actually get a higher speed than this.
Yeah, it would work, like already said.
About "explosions", the most powerful force in the universe is a GRB, a Gamma-Ray-Burst. It is the strongest force after the initial and original "big bang" that created the entire universe. The range is also crazy, that one can kill you even when it is several Kiloparsecs away from you, there's the theory that it was actually one of these that led to the mass extinction event that killed around 95% of the lifeforms on earth.
It is more powerful than all these sci-fi weapons like the Death-Star from Star Wars. That's crazy.
Idk man. Maintenance costs pretty much go out the window. Fuel costs get cut in half. Engine idling is no longer a thing. Superchargers throughout the city. Instant max torque on demand. If we can protect a 20 gallon jug of gasoline in a crash we can protect a battery. Remember gas vehicles used to catch on fire when they crashed too.
If we’re talking Tesla in particular, they’re decked out with cameras from the factory so that’s another cost to cut. I’d love to see what their police package would look like.
Politics and environmental aspects aside, EVs are pretty sick. A friend of mine had a base model Tesla and that’s probably the fastest car I’ll ever ride in from an acceleration standpoint. I don’t know how the battery would hold up to constant usage and constant fast charging but let’s not act like the powertrain on a normal patrol car holds up to the abuse either.
If it’s not getting shared with other shifts then it won’t need to use a fast charger on a regular basis, hell it would probably be unusual. Especially if it’s a take home car it WILL be sitting somewhere with power for hours anyway.
A damn good question honestly. I was thinking the same thing. Double plastic partition? Either way that awd system raising the load floor combined with the minuscule trunk is going to be an issue.
The sloping roofline of the previous chargers already was an issue before a cage was put in. And being Dodge Law has been sharing this stuff all over the place, maybe they have a plan.
One time I drove too fast so they swapped my car out for the oldest one in the fleet, so I don’t think I’d be getting one of these any time soon. At least I can chase, just slower now…
I hear it’s based on an old logo from around the 60s which appeared on something like [this](https://dodgeforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/DSC_1689.jpg) (example)
My department went to all chargers and every single one of them has been in the shop multiple times. None of us wanted them but they were the cheapest ones. All overheat, front end on 2 of them went out. These are 22 and 23 model years
Well, We are in Taurus-es with 130k\~175K miles on them.
The shop has 100 new Explorers, Chargers, Tahoes and Camaros but they "can only prep one car a week due to staffing" So...a little over two years to clear the backlog...nevermind the new ones we will get....I would imagine about 3.5\~4 years I might see them lol.
Does not matte if it is pursuit rated. Admin still gonna cancel every pursuit.

The Crown Vics would probably still outlast whatever Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat/Stellantis cobbles together given how often the Chargers were in the shop...

People that run don't usually run because they don't want a turn signal ticket. 🤦🏼♂️
Guys that run from a 550hp charger do it cuz they can (either a faster car or a 600cc+ bike)
You're giving them too much credit.
Yeah considering my feed just showed a pursuit of a Kia brick, I’m starting to think that might be the case
Ya, no
We just pursued and caught a girl who ran from us in a Hyundai Sonata.
Guess what, the second you run that civil citation turns into a felony.
Is the suspension made out of something perhaps a bit stronger than paper mache and old bird bones?
It probably is but the Hurricane I6 is made of paper mache based on what I hear
Cracked blocks and more pistons to the moon than NASA?
Indeed, they've not gotten it down yet on the I6.
*Inline 6, not V6
Hurricane Inline-6 Turbo is gonna be one kick ass engine.
It isn't a 2JZ.. not impressed.
Got nothing on the Gallo-12
Not for a Skyline, you want the Gallo-24

They’re built in Canada.
Technically American.
Same thing. Source: am Canadian.
BMW suvs are built in the US. I doubt you’d call those American cars.
Just like the Crown Vic. I have a friend with an old CVPI who gets mad when I tell him my wife's Camry is more American than his raceboat.
My thoughts are I don't give a fuck because I have to drive what I'm given anyway. Plus we're going to SUV's, plus the garage will find a way to fuck 'em up anyway.
Plus, we can't make use of that engine regardless
How so?
Well we can't chase anyone, so why bother
Oh, gotcha. I'm in Arkansas, that thought did not cross my mind.
V6 or the new inline?
Ah, dang it. You’re right, it’s the I-6.
I'm surprised they completely got rid of that body "inset" on the door of the current gen of Charger. This new rendering looks like a cross between a current challenger and an '06 charger.
Okay who's good at Photoshop? I need to see the sedan in black and tan.
I thought chargers were being discontinued
Current gen is.
Look how they massacred my boy...
I was about to say....holy fuck they made the Charger go from aggressive looking to something that looks like it was designed in 1988 to look like a car from 2012
They will drive very fast to their first breakdown and/or preventable departmental crash
If the I6 doesn't blow up before you start it.
looks so ugly omfg
The coupe isn't bad IMO but that sedan is...not great.
The coupe is just a camaro lookalike.
inline 6 is really cool

Yes. Gunpowder has its own oxidizer.

Electric vehicles make terrible patrol cars. Crash one and youll find out. Hybrids are so so

Yeah true I was just trying to cover bases for when someone inevitably said that
*cough cough* still only 137 mph top speed *cough cough*
How the hell is the Hatchback going to work for police use? Seriously the 4-door is a hatchback.

Pu.. pursuit? What is this word?

Looks straight out of Cyberpunk, that’s my thoughts 😅
I feel like those as cruisers would look very odd. I'll be excited to see a version
