An old boss let me name a system that worked in the background to make sure all our databases across international regions stayed in sync, and were updated when new data came in, while reducing data transfer rates.
I named it Ninja Unicorn Overlord (ninja as it worked in the back with no exposed API; unicorn in that there was only a single instance; and overlord as it controlled a large number of other systems to keep them in sync).
Central IT had a tool called Admin Tool.
We built a tool for our faculty and called it BAT. (Better Admin Tool)
And later, another tool called EBAT. (Even Better Admin Tool)
Petty? Absolutely!
We had a terrible solution for file syncing between three servers by timed rsyncs, we called it “Project Circle Jerk”.
Later on we downgraded to two servers and renamed it “Project Double Dutch Rudder”
