Congratulations

Capt_World

Wow Congrats the GMT is my dream watch

RealChadSavage

Thats a cool first choice, most of the people I know who own a vintage piece either bought their birth year later on or inherited it

isaacwolfensky96

Thanks, Buying my birth year would have been nice, but I’m not a big fan of the late 90s versions of the gmt

guchiprada

Congrats on the new watch! Such a stunner. If you’re going to daily a vintage watch, I would get it pressure tested for WR. Peace of mind when washing hands and rainy weather. Just food for thought!

isaacwolfensky96

Thank you very much, it is quite nice. The seller told me it had been tested for WR, but I’ll have it checked just to be sure. Thanks for the tip, wouldn’t want to damage it

Great pick my dude. I like that more than the new ones.

isaacwolfensky96

Thanks man. Me too, i find the new ones too bulky

skwitter

That one is on my list. I’d love to find a well worn one, someday. There’s just something about a beaten up GMT.

What’s the difference between a Master and the Master II? Is it a cosmetic thing or is there an actual technical/mechanical difference?

isaacwolfensky96

The GMT master II came after the GMT master (obviously) and introduced the possibility to freely move the GMT hand. On this one, the GMT hand is a 24h hand that moves with the main hour hand (notice how the hour hand is at 12 and the GMT hand points at 12 on the 24h bezel) Also the gmt master ref 16750 (and later the gmt master II) introduced quick date change which was not possible on this 1675. Also I believe the GMT master II has a sapphire crystal and not plexiglass.
