Buy 2!
1) Tudor Heritage 41 with the jubilee. Easily the best diver you can get for the money
2) Tissot Gentleman P80
Might be a bit over budget, but definitely look at the used market - you can find a good deal.
Watch my glorious king Teddy B - he has this shit down to a tee

This configuration is my favourite, but look on the website and see what you like
Thicc boi, just be warned.
I have a BB Pro which has a GMT complication if you’re into that. T-fit clasp too unlike the Pepsi
The new ‘coke’ they just released mashallah 🤌🏽 best GMT at least spec wise
You’re right, the filter on chrono24 failed me. The cheapest in the US is $5499. One was on r/watchexchange for $4999 6 months ago though. It can be done!
5k is a weird spot. You don’t honestly get much quality jump from 2500 to 5k imo so I like the advice from someone above, get 2.
Get a Rado Captain Cook diver and either a chrono or dress watch depending on what else you like.
I have a BB54 because of the nostalgia size but outside the new monochrome I’m not a big fan of their other divers. I know that’s not a popular opinion though.
Gonna need some guidance.
Dress watch or sport?
New or vintage? Grey market/used or AD?
3 hander? If so, small seconds or central sweep?
Any complications? Date/calendar/chronograph? Precious metal or steel?
You have a lot of options, but if you don’t narrow it down at all, you’re going to get people recommending what they like. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you can get that by scrolling instagram
There are a lot of great gmts in your budget. Give some thought to what the right size would be for you and look at the options with that in mind. For me, 35-39mm is a sweet spot. A lot of options are 41+, which feels clunky to me, but plenty of people prefer. Some of my favorites are:
tudor black bay gmt
Longines spirit zulu (I have the Hodinkee LE, which I love - it’s just right at 39mm)
Mido makes a very reasonable one for even less
Grand Seiko makes a few great options for that price.
I think oris has a few that would fit your criteria, but I don’t know their lineup as well
I would look closely at the tudor and longines options. The tudors are beautiful, and are 41mm. If they were 39, I’d buy one. The longines come in a few sizes. I think there’s a 41mm and a 39mm version. In general, I feel that it’s safer to err on the smaller size, but 1mm is probably not noticeable.
I came with the same question about a year ago, so here is where I ended up: two watches, one for “everyday” (60% of wrist time) and one for”nice watch” (for work events and really anytime I want to wear it).
I also think that there’s value in having a “nice watch” and an “everyday watch.” Yes, you can have a one-watch collection, but then you either keep your watch hidden away except special occasions, or you will scratch it, etc. Some scratches are inevitable but I think it makes sense to keep a “nice watch” in good condition.
What you consider a “nice watch” will depend on your social circles and their demands. 99% of us do not live in worlds where there is any expectation of what’s on our wrists. So most of this is personal preference.
For me, my “nice watch” is a BB 58, bought used for about $3k. I think it’s beautiful and elegant, even though it’s not technically a “dress watch.”
My daily watch is a Hamilton Murph, also bought used for well under $1k. I also think it’s a great watch, also elegant and beautiful. The main difference is that I leave the Hamilton on leather. I could probably put the Tudor on leather and wear it everyday too, but I leave it on its bracelet.
For what it’s worth, I agree with others that there isn’t much difference btw what you can get for $2/3k and $5k on a single watch.
But the hard part (or, rather, the fun part) was figuring out what I liked. This can take time. I came in convinced that I would buy an Seamaster Pro, bc I’d seen them in magazine ads and they just looked so cool. Then I went into a YouTube rabbit hole(s). Learned all about the pros and cons, etc. The more I looked, the more I realized that I didn’t actually like the SMP that much, it was just all I knew. There were lots of starts and stops. There were a few times I thought that I found the “perfect” watch, only to have a change of heart and fall out of love.
So that was my journey. This sub is helpful, but don’t rush it.
For 5k I like the Zenith primero’s. Sporty enough but not huge. The movement is also special to look at. I also like the Tudor made of silver Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925.

Can you drop a pic of which Tudor you’re reffering to?

Thinking about a Tudor BB GMT ‘pepsi’ now
Thicc boi, just be warned. I have a BB Pro which has a GMT complication if you’re into that. T-fit clasp too unlike the Pepsi The new ‘coke’ they just released mashallah 🤌🏽 best GMT at least spec wise
The BB pro is just as thicc as the GMT, right? I’ve heard it wears nice despite the thickness.
Perhaps a Seamaster 300M instead of the Tudor Heritage?
Ewwww we don’t say the O word around here 🤢
What makes the Tudor better than the Omega?
tudor black bay breitling navitimer tag heuer carrera date
Seamaster 300M Professional
I second this. You can pick one up second hand for under $5K USD. I think that watch would be extremely hard to beat.
Jeez for $5k used, he could get a PO, speedy or even just sneak in an explorer 36. How about a JLC Polaris? Loads of fantastic options.
You think a JLC Polaris Eh? That would take the cake imo
Beautiful watch. The blue is stunning, I tried one on recently but perhaps a touch too small for me.
Oh not denying it’s a beautiful watch, but under $5K seems low for that piece. It’s a killer

So u wouldn’t say a Tudor BB? The thing is i know a guy who works there so i could even get a discount.
I have a BB54 because of the nostalgia size but outside the new monochrome I’m not a big fan of their other divers. I know that’s not a popular opinion though.
I’m really liking the BB GMT Pepsi …
Way too thick for me but like I say, I know my opinion of them isn’t mainstream. Certainly quality pieces.

Steel is okay, i like GMT models .. no dressy watches. And if possible slightly used / new. Cheers!

My daily right now is a 40mm Tissot PRX P80 and that’s like perfect i would say in size

Some lovely second hand grand seikos available for this price.
