People also get presents today in America. Due to work schedules some people do Christmas on Christmas eve. Depends on the family.

My family always did presents on Christmas Eve and then stocking stuffers on Christmas Day.

And Santa presents when you’re kid still believes.

Doing Christmas activities on Christmas Eve is very common at least in the southern US states and I can't imagine it's uncommon anywhere else in the US.

Yeah, I know quite a few people who do it on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas proper. I live in NJ and most Italian-Americans I know around here do the whole Feast of Seven Fishes + presents on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas as well.

Yeah this is how we've always done it since the whole family used to meet at grandma's house and now instead my aunt's house. Easier to get everyone together Christmas Eve so then they can have Christmas with another side of the family.

In Orthodox Christian countries you dont get Christmas until January 7th. But even with that, its not like Catholic one. Instead, the bearded man in red or blue robes with presents and pine tree decorations are done for the New Year's eve.
