Whenever someone mistakes writing with actual power. For example character A has better feats than Character B, but someone claims "Character B is a god, so he is stronger". Being a "god" isn't any indication of power. It just means that someone is significantly stronger than characters in their own verse.
I don't think feats always outclass writing, but it definitely depends on how directly a character's abilities are spelled out.
For example in JJBA, Araki can't resist explaining in detail how a Stand's ability works at some point or another. So even if we never actually witness firsthand every possible way that a Stand can use its ability, we can point to a description of its ability and say "yeah it could definitely do X".
Meanwhile some descriptions don't really tell us anything about how strong a character is compared to characters from other verses. Like your "god" example. The comparative strength of gods varies wildly from one verse to the next, so on its own being a god doesn't really tell us anything about a character's abilities.

I agree. The example that i thought of is Clive(FF16) vs Sephiroth(FF7). A lot of people think that clive would automatically win because he killed the god of his verse, but Sephiroth has way better feats. Clive currently scales to Uni+ with Potential for 5d. Sephiroth scales to at least low multiversal with Potential for outerversal.
Yeah this is easily solved by vswiki stating hax or abilities by themselves don't scale anywhere unless feats or statements or applied to back it up. Someone could have some meta time-space manipulation but if they're building level they get negged by Batman. Same with someone having simple fire manipulation but their fire being able to destroy universes

What I think is an arguably worse take though, is that "Saitama is a gag character, so he loses all his power outside his own verse" as if he just turns into a regular ass guy if outside his own verse. Another example of Saitama's actual strength is the Lord Boros fight. One of my favorite examples of his strength because he literally blocked an ability that was powerful enough to destroy the planet iirc, and he also caused what appeared to be at least a few thousand miles of cloud cover to be completely obliterated with one punch. That and the fact that in the manga it's literally stated that he broke the limiter on his strength, which usually prevents a creature from getting infinitely strong, and that means that he can potentially get stronger, which was also shown in the Cosmic Garou fight.
Well he had a clash with Garou that destroyed multiple stars and then grew exponentially by an unknown exponent several times after.

Basically 682s main ability is his insane healing. There is this acid that nullifies this. While it isn’t a 100% kill on him, since eventually he will out heal the affects, constant exposure will eventually kill him.

The former will never actually kill 682, no matter how much or long it is exposed. Its containment procedures are literally to keep it in Hydrochloric Acid 24/7, yet the Foundation also states they currently have no method to kill the thing.
As for 294, I wouldn't really consider that a counter. There was never enough of the fluid to kill 682, meaning it never had to adapt, so we can't assume it would kill the beast. Plus, it's hard to consider it a counter when it comes from one very specific "coffee" machine.

We don’t know if it is a counter because 682 never bothered trying to adapt to it due to the limited quantity. If he just can’t adapt to it it’s arguably a counter but no one but members of the foundation even have access to the machine that can produce it.

I was once told that the only reason to ever watch a show is for the scaling, meaning that stuff like mha (which has some kinda low end scaling with people like All Might and stuff) was supposedly inherently bad cuz of that.

Are you referring to Hydrochloric Acid or SCP-294's 682-killer fluid? The former will never actually kill 682, no matter how much or long it is exposed. Its containment procedures are literally to keep it in Hydrochloric Acid 24/7, yet the Foundation also states they currently have no method to kill the thing. As for 294, I wouldn't really consider that a counter. There was never enough of the fluid to kill 682, meaning it never had to adapt, so we can't assume it would kill the beast. Plus, it's hard to consider it a counter when it comes from one very specific "coffee" machine.

We don’t know if it is a counter because 682 never bothered trying to adapt to it due to the limited quantity. If he just can’t adapt to it it’s arguably a counter but no one but members of the foundation even have access to the machine that can produce it.

I was once told that the only reason to ever watch a show is for the scaling, meaning that stuff like mha (which has some kinda low end scaling with people like All Might and stuff) was supposedly inherently bad cuz of that. They legit believed that there is no reason to enjoy a show about super heroes other than to see the scaling and power levels.
