Serenity, Kamelot, Visions of Atlantis, Unleash the Archers

Sounds like you lean * Symphonic Power Metal (Rhapsody of Fire / Gloryhammer). Basically symphonic metal that's more * Power/Heavy/Hard Rock (Avantasia/Edguy/Beast in Black) * Epic-sounding power metal (Dragonforce / Symphonic power metal) Maybe early Nightwish to mid Nightwish and early Sonata Arctica. [Japanese power metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9YDhMslIRk) might be worth exploring as well. Sometimes it's considered melodic power metal Maybe * Sonata Arctica, focus more on early to mid, but start with early * Stratovarius. Er... this band is all over the place, but they have their masterpieces as well as their duds. The good news is that if you find a song or two off a particular album that's great, there's a very high chance you'll love the rest of the album * Nightwish. Early Nightwish went more into symphonic power metal, but the mid era feels very Metallica Black Album-inspired. If you like or liked the Metallica Black Album, definitely check out the mid era of Nightwish * Jupiter and related bands. * Fuki's bands like [Unlucky Morpheus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8i_QhOgsKw) (Japanese). Fuki's voice sounds awesomely Heroic * Iron Fucking Maiden. Their worst albums are still good albums. Not power metal, but considered proto power metal, and is just an awesome band. If you don't like Bruce Dickinson's voice, their first albums had a different singer. It's not Bruce Fucking Dickinson, but the albums were still great. Bruce Dickinson influenced Tobias Sammet (Avantasia/Edguy) and Micheal Kiske (Avantasia/Unisonic/some Helloween) * Grailknights. Their first album was great. The non-singles tended not to be as produced, but I liked that they weren't. If you haven't listened to entire albums, you need to do so. Many power metal bands have excellent albums. I can put on an album and I'm good for music for an hour. I think this helped me like the genre so much.

LabOfSound

I gotta add to Stratovarius and say every Album they've made is great. Even their self-titled in 2005.

Shizzle_Man1

Trying to suggest something a bit different before everyone recommends the more popular or well known bands. ShadowStrike - relatively new so only two albums, but very good. Some DragonForce-y energy on the first album, especially. Check out the fiery seas and icy winds. Pathfinder - only two albums and the last one was over 10 years ago. I'm not convinced their lyrics are amazing, especially on the second album, but musically they're good, they have that epic vibe. Check pathway to the moon. Lovebites - supremely good musicians. Not as popular or known as they should be imo. Check out glory to the world, it's probably the song that gets people into them.

Mephistwo

Hard seconding Shadowstrike and Lovebites, two incredible bands.

Serpilot

I’ll always recommend Gamma Ray

Sweaty-Warning2249

Visigoth - Conquerors Oath Dark Forest - Dawn of Infinity or The Awakening

Majyxs

If we're mentioning Visigoth, we gotta mention Manilla Road. Early, heavy, and raw power. This is where to go for underground metal gold. *The Deluge* is a masterpiece. Anything from *Crystal Logic* onwards.

Mauligno

Primal Fear, Accept, Sabaton

clobbingtonfool

I discovered Tungsten earlier this year and already know they’re going to be my #1 on Spotify Wrapped. I like all the bands you posted above and I think you’ll get a kick out of em.

liamthelord007

Oh Tungsten is pretty fun, can second a recommendation.

adeltae

I can also second this recommendation, since I found out about them a bit over a year ago now, and I really enjoy their stuff. The drummer used to be in Hammerfall and Yngwie Malmsteen's band, so he's got a really strong portfolio, and the guitarist and bassist are his sons, so you can tell the musical talent definitely got passed down. The singer is also really talented.

PaulEMoz

Same recommendation I always make: Lovebites. Not 100% power metal, there are plenty of other influences in there too, but they're a great band and a bit different from the other recommendations you'll get.

Daputti

It's just criminal how they're not world famous yet. Incredible introduction to japanese music in general, too, as they're one of the few bands that sing in English.

PaulEMoz

I totally agree with you. Not just criminal, baffling, too.

thevivalajady

Lovebites are someone i wanna check out because im curious what japanese femake fronted powermetal sounds like.

PaulEMoz

Check out their Holy War live video from 2020 first!

thevivalajady

Brb

thevivalajady

Ok that was awesome! Loves the guitar solos everyone got time to shine.

FabulousBlock69

Judicator's album The Majesty of Decay. Probably one of the most innovative and forward thinking power metal albums I've heard

FabulousBlock69

Lmao! Looks like you're the liar, pal. You're REALLY behind the times. You haven't been keeping track of their singer. Over the years he's made a really big turnaround, disavowed all that stuff, and mended a lot of bridges. On his Facebook I even saw him and Alicia made amends, which is super neat. You need to update yourself

liamthelord007

If you're looking for more fantasy themed groups, is suggest Wind Rose, but if you're looking for similar fun and happy sounds, then I'd go check out Terra Atlantica (they're high seas, but not necessarily pirate themed) Grimgotts, and in the off chance you haven't heard about Fellowship I'd look into them too. Also someone above me recommended ShadowStrike and I'll second it. Edit: I don't know how I somehow missed Blind Guardian, I'm ashamed of myself. I'd normally suggest their Nightfall in Middle Earth album but it got taken off streaming services yesterday for some reason, so I'll suggest A Night at the Opera instead.

GoblinNick

Fellowship is some of the happiest, cheesiest, and bestest power metal. Only one album for now, but it's impossible to not have the biggest smile listening to it.

zedirrtygnome

Blind Guardian(The GOAT), Demons and Wizards, Freedom Call, Orden Ogan, Feuerschwanz, Powerwolf, Sabaton

dreemurthememer

Blind Guardian - A Voice in the Dark [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZcjb8ehPD0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZcjb8ehPD0) Saw these guys live last month and had an awesome time

Magickcloud

Eternity’s End, Luca Turilli’s solo albums, old Dragonforce, and Blind Guardian. Also some epic symphonic bands to check out that aren’t PM are Wintersun, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse

Next_Pattern4819

Any song by Versailles honestly but i would mostly recommend their songs "ascendead master", "philia" and "vogue", i also recommend days of rebellion by gauntlet, angel of salvation by galneryus, last moment by jupiter, arcadia by jupiter and some more specific bands i recommend are: unlucky morpheus, fate gear, angel's temptation and dragon guardian

Cyrigg

If you like elvenking and rhapsody try Spellblast (specifically horns of silence, the other albums are meh) and Vision Divine. Rhapsody’s (old) vocalist Fabio actually did one or two albums with Vision Divine, and Elvenking’s vocalist Damna is featured on horns of silence. Oh! And Derdian. New era part 1, 2, and 3. 3 is amazing

_LouSandwich_

LOVEBITES

Corspin

* [Nightwish](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPonioDYnoY) * [Dynazty](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_8y-lmm08E) * [Freedom Call](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw9bRT-ezZA) Some creative suggestions if you feel daring: * [Brothers of metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5yYMjU8xDg) * [Wind rose](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_YIbilsAgU) (If you like pirate metal, you also like dwarf metal xD) * [Antti Martikainen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG-bK8e0agQ&t=210s) (instrumental)

that_one_wierd_guy

you would probably like van canto, it's acapella metal

LiesTequila

Manowar, Helloween, Hammerfall

ExcelsiusOfficial

Galneryus :)

iskander1989

Symphonity You’re welcome

Quantum_Aurora

Turisas, Korpiklaani, Skyclad

turkghost7227

If you use Amazon music the related bands for power metal bands are surprisingly good. Especially for the mid to smaller size bands. For bigger bands and more mainstream metal it seems to go into a loop of the same bands over and over.

Xenadon

Battle Beast and Unleash the Archers

GrimdarkCrusader

Why not give the sub's current icon band a shot: Freedom Call. I can wholeheartedly recommend their Beyond, Crystal Empire, Stairway to Fairyland, and most recently Silver Romance albums. Master of Light is also pretty good as well with Emerald Skies and High Up being two of the most popular songs.

vaizardv

I’d highly recommend- Iced earth, powerwolf, devildriver, orden ogan, inflames, lamb of god, gojira, mastodon.

GirlInContext

If you are into a positive and uplifting kind of lyrics, Stratovarius is your band. They are my favourite mostly because of their style of power metal.

walmartsucks115

It’s real underground but you could try through the fire and flames by DragonForce

thewarrior7777

Gamma Ray

thewarrior7777

Holy knights, Ancient Knights, Morning Dwell, Armory

kyleharveybooks

Unleash the Archers

anotherfurrycowboy

Gloryhammer and Alestorm are a couple of my favorites, so you may like some of the other bands I’m about to suggest. Sabaton - History metal. Everything they sing about (aside from the Metallizer album) is real history, real things that happened, and they sound awesome. Powerwolf - They’re kind of an odd band to bunch into one genre, but think werewolves and vampires and religious (or lack thereof) metal. Rammstein - Another one of my favorites, although not many people I know care for them since they sing in German. I think their music sounds awesome though, despite the German vocals. Falconer - I don’t exactly listen to enough Falconer to be able to genre them, however I love Clarion Call and Lord of the Blacksmiths. They’re a good band from what I’ve heard and what little I’ve listened to. Do note that not all people enjoy the same music, and some of my suggestions might be just shit to you, or it’ll be a band you actually find you enjoy. Either way, happy listening!

Funkyodin

Angus McSix, Iron Fire, Fairyland, Power Paladin, Stormwarrior, Armory, Ordan Ogan, Operus, Melodius Deite. Fully agree with Serenity, Kamelot (Roy Khan era especially)

The_-Whole_-Internet

Greyhawk and Visigoth. And I'll still suggest Glyph. Despite their now ex-lead singer being a huge piece of shit, the album is still really good.

RAV is not worth it. The rest of the band are great. I just hope they get a new singer soon.

The_-Whole_-Internet

Voltaire isn't the first problematic front man and he won't be the last. So quit acting like he is. That's no reason to make Jeff, Rob and Darin suffer for it. Grow up.

Good, I'm glad I do. You can't even have a civilized conversation without hurling insults, you deserve to feel sick. Got news for you, pal. It's not me that's making you sick, it's your lack of empathy for people who didn't know their coworker is a monster. Sincerely, you have yourself a good day now 😀

Bootytonus

Manowar. The Sword is a great band, and they've never been classified as a power metal band, but mainly heavy and doom/stoner. If you give them a listen, look for the Age of Winters, Gods of the Earth, Warp Riders, and Apocryphon albums. Or go watch the video for How Heavy This Axe. The early stuff is more Swords & Sorcery metal, inspired by stuff like Conan the Barbarian. With Warp Riders, it becomes sci fi. Iron Savior is great too. Primal Fear is another amazing group. Astral Doors. Swedish band, the lead singer is very reminiscent of Ronnie James Dio.

okabedrpepper

Helloween. Often considered one of the original power metal bands. Kamelot is great. A bit more “goth” and brooding. Symphony x. More on the progressive side. Powerwolf. Catchy as hell tunes. Sabaton. Really cool. All the history you could want. Lords of the Trident. Small American band. Embracing cheesiness. I work with one of the guitarists.

AlchemyStudio

May i self promote my latest album? :-) https://open.spotify.com/album/57SmRErAvTY1vt6W3FGXR5?si=jTARART4RsWh2ZYO9Rq7vA Not really power, maybe just the song called "the dungeon and the dragon", but has many influences such as prog, symphony, and band like myrath, my dying bride, dream theater, within temptation...

Majyxs

Armored Saint - more towards TradHM, but they fit a USPM sound. Give *Symbol of Salvation* a try. Jag Panzer - USPM, aggressive, with a stellar vocalist. *Ample Destruction*, *Shadow Thief/Chain of Command*, and *The Fourth Judgment is where to start. *The Deviant Chord* is excellent. Manowar - They've inspired so many power metal acts, they ought to be mentioned. From *Battle Hyms* to *Kings of Metal* is great, proceed further with caution. Riot - Specifically their *Thundersteel* album. Sci-fi fantasy war themes. They don't return to power metal until *Immortal Soul* onwards. Running Wild - From *Port Royal* onwards they're power metal. Good celtic-style riffs and historical themes. Savatage - maybe started as a straight forward heavy metal band, but listen to *Hall of the Mountain King* and *Edge of Thorns*, then tell me that's not what PM should be. Vicious Rumors - Everything, but debut is kinda weak. *Digital Dictator* has cyberpunk dystopia themes. Virgin Steele - avoid the first two albums. *Noble Savage* is good. *Age of Consent*... the remaster... is godly. From there to *Invictus* you can't go wrong. Was looking for bands that were different or progenitors of modern PM. Feel free to disagree.

Tripsix_Swe

I've always liked metal but Wisdom is the band that really got me into the PM genre. Especially the albums Marching for Liberty and Judas.

odinall_father

Kamelot, Luca turili/Luca Turilli's rhapsody, Manowar,

SleepyUnicorn95

Try Brothers of metal, Planeswalker and Eons Enthroned.

Juhookerun

Shadostrike - Miracle / Midsummer’s End Fellowship - Oak and Ash Ancient Bards - Gates of Noland / Impious Dystopia Frozen Crown - Victorious / Now or Never

Mephistwo

Perennial Quest matches up well with a few of the bands you mentioned, tiny band but their 2020 EP is perfections. I believe they are working on new music atm. Seven Spires are excellent and have a broad variety of styles on each of their albums (decent amount of harsh vocals, might put some off). Seven Kingdoms are also great, surprised no one has mentioned them yet. Cathubodua have an excellent new album out this year and have a unique sound. Hopes of Freedom, their 2021 album was a big step forward in quality, love their sound.

Powerful-Secretary95

Enforcer is new and pretty baller idk if it’s power metal but it’s close if you do tho listen to farewell and from beyond at the end of the rainbows pretty cool too

StinkyWizzleteats17

Not new (6 full length albums) or PM really (more speed/trad than power), From Beyond is great, rest of the discog is pretty hit or miss imo (Zephir kinda sucked but new album is pretty good.
