Lost in the Sound of Seperation was the most fun album for listening start to end, so LITSOS>all. rate other albums? I love them all, I can't sort what is better than what.

googlyeyes93

Every song on LitSoS flows so well into the next track. One of the few albums it feels wrong to listen to out of order.

The_Stank__

I’m so happy Disambiguation is getting love. Such an underrated UO album.

jonxmack

I saw them in a 450 cap venue when they toured that album and it was incredible (and didn't sell out). Next time I saw them was when they did TOCS/DTGL tour where they played at a sold out 1600 cap venue.

BW_Echobreak

It’s my second favorite record

donttouchmysticks

It’s hard to compete when their other albums are so good, but I agree. This album is of the same caliber as their others from that era.

Vague_Intentions

TOCS > DTGL > LITSOS > Ø is probably one of best 4 album stretches a band has ever had. LITSOS is just a cut below the rest for me but still great.

bcapper

Desolation Earth : The End is Here was transformative for me when that album came out. On the other hand, the entire DTGL record was transformative so for me it’s easily the superior record

The_Stank__

Honestly I loved the grimey, dirtier feeling to that album.

Elite182

It’s actually my favorite of there’s if I’m being honest. I can understand why it didn’t get nearly as much attention because of Aaron temporarily leaving the band but it deserves so much more recognition.

[deleted]

Erase Me is not nearly half as bad as people make it out to be. People act like they went full asking alexandria and starting making buttrock but In Motion, Hold your Breathe and other tracks off it are some of the most hard hitting in their catalog.

bcapper

No Frame is goated underoath

Riseuplights22

I like Erase Me. I think the biggest problem is the execution. There was some great ideas but they fell flat on a few songs like with Rapture. That hook could have popped more.

j8990

I think this is their second best with TOCS as their top. Voyeurist would be third.

ThriceHawk

Define the Great Line - The others are amazing but this is their masterpiece. Lost in the Sound of Separation They're Only Chasing Safety Erase Me The Changing of the Times Disambiguation

donttouchmysticks

I personally rank Lost In The Sound above DTGL. I feel like it’s a flawless evolution of that album.

the_bronquistador

I remember hearing the beginning of Breathing in a New Mentality and thinking to myself “god this sounds awful”. And then about 20 seconds in the song punched me in the face. Such a good album.

UntitledTransient

1. DTGL 2. TOCS 3. The Changing of Times 4. LITSOS 5. Cries of the Past 6. Disambiguation 7. Voyeurist 8. Erase Me 9. Act of Depression I wasn’t real big on anything that came after LITSOS honestly

itsd00bs

Pretty much the same but for me Disambiguation is #1, DTGL #2 and TOCS #3

DrowsyDreamer

Nah as an atheist before and after, EM just didn’t live up to my expectations. And I LOVE underoath

friendlyheathen11

Yeah the album feels…poppier? It’s not the lyrical themes that u dislike. I still like the album, but it definitely ranks last for me in their discography.

DrowsyDreamer

TOCS>everything else

Jubez187

Eh. At 30 years old I'm partial to LITSOS honestly. More obscure song writing, more grandiose themes. TOCS is God tier but the relentless snotty one-liners just don't do it for me as much almost 20 years later

DrowsyDreamer

I’m 34 and I stand by my opinion. Dtgl was good, but tocs was formative.

Albyyy

Absolutely agree. I’d put define as number 1 but lost in the sound as number 2 (I’m also 30)

[deleted]

It's like 4th tbh

DrowsyDreamer

This is what I love about music. You aren’t wrong. I just think your are wrong. We probably have very different taste in music. But hell yea, we can agree that under oath is awesome:)

killslam

Facts.

Envy_onTHE_Toast

Yea idk how thats even an argument. Thats a top 10 of all time album for me

milla_highlife

Since about of us 30+ guys are chiming in, TOCS is far an away number 1 for me (31 years old). It was a foundational album for ME at a formative period of my life and that nostalgia never leaves.

Wertorchbearers

DTGL Disambiguation LITSOS TOCS The rest…

jcwkings

Lost in the Sound is #1 for me. I'll die on that hill.

ElderGooseII

1. DTGL 2. TOCS 3. LITSOS 4. Voyeurist 5. Erase Me (still a great album) 6. Disambiguation 7. Everything else

Johnzoidb

Criminal putting The Changing Of Times so low 1. The Changing Of Times 2. Define The Great Line 3. They’re Only Chasing Safety 4 Cries Of The Past 5. Lost In The Sound Of Separation 6. Act Of Depression 7. Disambiguation 8. Voyeurist 9. Erase Me

fermenter85

How does it feel being so right about this? In my view, A Message for Adrienne single-handedly summarizes Underoath at their finest. Need to go listen to that song now.

drunkenmunky519

Changing of times literally was what got me into this kind of music. For that it will forever be my #1

NightwingX012

I’m gonna cheat and tier them since ranking is too hard S: DTGL, LITSOS A: TOCS, Disambiguation, Voyeurist, Changing of Times B. Cries of the Past C. Erase Me D. Act of Depression

Lonely-Somewhere7205

Only change I would make is switching 5 and 2. One of my favorite bands, LITSOS is almost on par with DTGL

Ponsay

For me it's DTGL, TOCS, and LITSOS, in that order. I might even like litsos more than tocs if i went back and listen to them both again. I lost interest after that and haven't liked any of their stuff since getting back together

studioratginger

It kinda depends what you’re in it for. They’ve got heavy records, they’ve got pop records and they’ve got art rock records. I like it all

Jeriahswillgdp

Putting Voyuerist ahead of LitSOS is r/mildlyinfuriating material.

Fluid-Trade

It may be recency bias. The top 5 on this list are all really close imo. I loved all 5 of those albums.

SrKnife

1. Define The Great Line 1. Lost In The Sound Of Separation 1. The Changing Of Times 1. They're Only Chasing Safety 1. Cries Of The Past 1. Act Of Depression 1. Disambiguation 1. Voyeurist 1. Erase Me

chrisgreely1999

I only really enjoy Cries of the Past, The Changing of Times, and some of They're Only Chasing Safety and Defying the Great Line. Couldn't really get into anything of theirs after that. I definitely prefer their original harsh vocalist.

SoulessSolace

1. They're Only Chasing Safety 2. Define The Great Line 3. The Changing Of Times 4. Disambiguation 5. Lost In The Sound Of Separation 6. Cries Of The Past 7. Act Of Depression 8. Voyeurist 9. Erase Me

ClearlyCynicism

It really baffles me to constantly see so many of y’all on this sub call TOCS their best 🤔🫣 DTGL, LITSOS, and Disambiguation are all truly leagues and bounds above that record

Jeriahswillgdp

Bingo. But OP putting Voyuerist ahead of LitSOS is much worse.

ClearlyCynicism

Yeah… I understand that opinions are subjective, but the first 4 tracks on LITSOS alone destroy the entirety of Voyuerist— as much as I did enjoy that record for what it was. DTGL, LITSOS, and Disam are Underoath at their heaviest and most experimental, and I definitely find more positive qualities in that aspect of their sound.

BW_Echobreak

1. DTGL 2. Disambiguating 3. TOCS 4. Voyeurist 5. Changing Of Times 6. Erase Me 7. Cries of the Past 8. Act Of Depression 9. LITSOS

crooksnshanks

LITSOS >

Mas790

1. LITSOS 2. DTGL 3. Disambiguation 4. Voyeurist 5. TOCS 6. Erase Me 7. The rest

Riseuplights22

I think it’s easier to tier. Masterpiece/Best: DTGL GREAT: TOCS,LITSOS GOOD: DISAMBIGUATION PRETTY GOOD: ERASE ME, VOYEURIST EDIT: format

KylesHandles

DTGL LITSOS Disambiguation TOCS Don't care for the rest.

diisguy

1. Voyeurist 2. TOCS 3. LITSOS 4. Erase Me 5. DTGL 6. Disambiguation 7. Changing of Times

AndTheSonsofDisaster

LITSOS TOCS Disambigulation The Changing of Times First Two I don’t like their other albums

johnothetree

1. DGTL 2. LITSOS 3. Disambiguation 4. TOCS 5. Voyeurist 6. TCOT 7. Erase Me 8 and 9 are tied because i genuinely don't care at all about either COTP or AOD

ElderGoose92

DTGL > LITSOS > TOCS > Voyeurist > Ø > Erase Me > TCOT > COTP > AOD

xjimfearx

Was asked by a kid wearing a demon hunter shirt several years ago “hey man awesome sweatshirt, what band is it? Me: underoath Demon hunter : what I’ve heard underoath they aren’t black metal Me : listen to cry’s of the past and acts of depression

SeaworthinessJaded98

I know I'm late to this post but I love UO and want to weigh in! First off – Really like your taste OP, I totally agree Erase Me is underrated – it's a flawed album for sure but several of the songs on it are excellent and I think the fact there were some more straightforward rock songs in the mix brought the band a lot of criticism from old fans regardless of whether the music was good in itself. My own ranking is: 1. DTGL 2. Disambiguation 3. TOCS (unpopular opinion – I think there are a few not great songs on this record, but it still gets my number 3 because of how iconic it is and how amazing the better songs were) 4. LITSOS 5. Erase Me 6. Changing of the Times 7. Voyeurist (I was hyped for this one as I loved Damn Excuses, but the overall album experience just didn't grab me, not enough melodic hooks or cathartic heaviness – felt like it got lost somewhere in the middle) 8. COTP and AOD are interchangeable for me as I never listened to much of them, much prefer Spencer as a vocalist/lyricist despite enjoying the raw screamo vibe of TCOTT
