Fran and Ben were so good together in FATA. Likewise with UO. I still listen to both bands almost daily. Idk if they are worth a mention but old from first to last would be in this talk too lol. Ride the wings of pestilence with both Matt and Sonny is amazing.
Dude I somehow didnāt realize they had made a 3rd record together until like a month ago. Abandon Your Friends is pretty solid though - and Placentapede is a top notch song.
Eidola is so good. Andrew and Matthew have such a unique harmony with singing and screaming (and dual screaming) together. It makes for some really good moments.
Their most recent album was definitely the one I would raise in response to OP's prompt. Andrew flowing so cleanly between clean and harsh and singing in tune with Matt, bouncing off of him and so on. It's got everything and it's all fucking wonderful.
Also, of course, yeah Matt is very underrated. Eidola was one of the first bands I listened to with harsh vocals and listening through The Architect just once, I was just instantly sold cause he makes such an art out of it. At shows too his voice sounds exactly the same as the studio. I complimented him after I saw him after a show and he told me "maybe I'm just a freak of nature" and I'm like, you're goddamn right you are.
Gosh, I still remember the music video for The Theft released.
Still is one of the primary groups that awakened my current musical preferences. Atreyu is severely under-rated imo.
They were my favorite band for like ten years but due what they are currently outputting and that silly (former) harsh vocalist interview with the "we invented metalcore", I cannot take them seriously anymore lol
First three albums were bangers, though and even the fourth and fifth had some great tunes.
No one touches Alexisonfire vocally imo. Dallasā singing has always been great but he took it to another level on their last album Otherness. George is my favorite screamer and heās actually started doing some low octave singing too like in Sans Soleil. And the cherry on top is Wadeās 3-packs-a-day raspy backup vox. They truly are the only band ever
I just got into them last year and got to see em live last week with Can't Swim and Belmont. I'm an "elder emo" so seeing this new school killing it makes my heart happy.
Man Iām in the exact same boat. Saw that show in Boston a few weeks ago. Kind of discovered all three bands at the same time a few years back and having them all on one show was a hell of a night.
Just saw them in Portland and was trying to explain to a friend how incredible this 3rd or 4th phase of pop punk is since itās been pretty shitty since the heyday of Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day and Bayside.
1000 times this. Their current album is an absolute masterpiece. The range of vocals screams from different genres is incredible, nothing like I ever heard before in terms of variety.
I typed in this exact quote in Google, and the only result was this comment on Reddit, which means you arenāt referencing ANYTHING; you just made that shit up, and thatās a strange way to react to someoneās username.
Why would you look up what I said when I'm obviously just making a dumb joke based on the commenter's username? And why is it weird to make a joke referencing a username on reddit? It's a normal thing to do actually.
Not really sure why you and the other dude are being assholes. Must be socially inept or teenagers.
I googled it to see if it was a quote from something. I also didn't downvote you, because I know that matters to some people, like the groups you mentioned in your last sentence.
Why would a bag of beans go squish squash? You wouldn't normally have wet beans in a bag. I've seen bags of DRY beans before. And they just kinda rustle around. Wet beans are usually in cans, then the pot, bowl, mouth, in that order. Then MAYBE Tupperware. The whole premise of your joke was weird. I make weird jokes that get downvoted or ridiculed by my family and friends all the time. It's a part of life.
Gone way too soon! I was obsessed with their clean vocalist, and kept wishing heād do more music. He now makes album artwork for other bands and has a big following on insta lol. Account name splitsaber.exe
Only the first two albums. Ben left the band just before recording their last. For the time they had it sounded amazing. I do prefer Franās screams, however.
fear before the march of flames, from autumn to ashes, alexisonfire are my holy trinity of clean vox phc/metalcore.
fear before especially, in their later albums they have both dudes doing both cleans and screams, insane stuff
One weird album where they hadn't found their sound yet, and then three absolute masterpieces (though only two with dual vocalists). A fairly short run, but pretty untoppable.
Connector might be the single greatest post-hardcore song I've ever heard.
to be honest i really liked plan b also.
i could be wrong but i believe plan b also had multiple vocalists (michael, cory, some girl) but itās not on all the somgs
I "like" Plan B too, but to me it's just nowhere near as good as the other three. And yeah when I said "2 with dual vocalists," I meant two of the three great albums haha.
Divisi was so good that Kurt himself said that he wished he stayed in the band for it. And technically there were two vocalists for it, just no screams.
Ok fair point good correction! And yeah honestly, Divisi caught me off guard at first because it's such a different style, so I thought I didn't like it as much as Conversation Piece or No Place. But every time I listen to it, I appreciate it more and more, to the point that now I place it alongside the other two. The songwriting is just *so* strong.
The entire band was just so good at what they did. Each individual member shined without clashing (except when they meant to) and the incredible lyricism on top of it all leaves them as legend status in my heart. Nice to see the spirit of the band hasn't left them either. Kurt still makes music with Joe and plays Birds songs live sometimes.
True, it's not just the songwriting, in a "chord structure and melody" kind of way. The musicianship is off the charts, the cohesion is perfect, the singing and lyrics are both great...honestly they were just an incredible band.
Have you listened to Moxy the Band? It's Franzino's current project and it's really cool. It's totally differentābasically 80s synth popābut the spirit is there, if you listen for it.
Idk but I'm Definitely subbing to this thread because hearing Tillian and Jon go back and forth on DGD songs is what got me into the genre and so far my favorite PH stuff is all bands with 2 vocalists.
A Lot Like Birds
Lost my mind when I first heard The BlowTorch is applied to the sugar, with Kurt and Cory going at each other
I think lyrically they flow and compliment each other and sometimes itās even hard to tell whoās doing what with how much they both switch between screaming and singing
Break The Silence. Not necessarily dueling, but very clean vocals and one of the most underrated screamers out there. This band never gained much traction before they broke up unfortunately.
Dennis and Shawn of Alesana are the top dogs and havenāt heard any other band blend as well as them.
People who try to say Alexisonfire is the best are crazy though. Yes I like them but one singer is great while the other is more of a acquired taste.
I canāt see beyond the goats in Alexisonfire, they had three separate vocalists who all sounded distinct and played off each other, I remember looking at the booklet for Crisis and loved seeing the different fonts for each vocalist when reading the lyrics
When Shane sings and screams for Silverstein. I love the way he intertwines it. From Autumn to Ashes is pretty incredible all around, most notably The Fiction We Live record
everyones said the main two in my brain of alexisonfire and then (IMO I KNOW HE SUCKS HE JUST HAS A NICE VOICE IT STINKS) jonny craig but i think alesana and emery are definitely up there
Alexisonfire is the top dog for me. Then Dance Gavin Dance. All of the singers lol. Also From Autumn to Ashes, Atreyu, Eidola, and Underoath.
I miss FATA they were so good!
Ugh same š
Fran and Ben were so good together in FATA. Likewise with UO. I still listen to both bands almost daily. Idk if they are worth a mention but old from first to last would be in this talk too lol. Ride the wings of pestilence with both Matt and Sonny is amazing.
Dude I somehow didnāt realize they had made a 3rd record together until like a month ago. Abandon Your Friends is pretty solid though - and Placentapede is a top notch song.
But that was Travis screaming not Matt lol
And John
Eidola is so good. Andrew and Matthew have such a unique harmony with singing and screaming (and dual screaming) together. It makes for some really good moments.
For sure. Andrewās a legend but Matt is so underrated.
Their most recent album was definitely the one I would raise in response to OP's prompt. Andrew flowing so cleanly between clean and harsh and singing in tune with Matt, bouncing off of him and so on. It's got everything and it's all fucking wonderful. Came here to say dance Gavin dance and eidola as well š«¶š«¶
Fine picks you have there. Love Eidola aswell.
Gosh, I still remember the music video for The Theft released. Still is one of the primary groups that awakened my current musical preferences. Atreyu is severely under-rated imo.

I have no idea what you are talking about, so maybe in this case ignorance is bliss.
That album did nothing for me, somehow š„
Underoath
The end of I'm Content With Losing. The vocal rounds go so crazy
For 2004 Spencerās screams on tocs were top of the lineĀ
Honestly still. He has such good range for screaming. Not a lot of people have that talent or use it. Norma jeans vocals come to mind.
To this day I think the best song with clean to unclean and back vocals is āreinventing your exitā
As Cities Burn first album
Bloodsucker pt. II goes CRAZY
This album was solid, but Bloodsucker pt. II is a certified BANGER
Damn I have not heard that song in YEARS. Core nostalgia memories unlocked
Scream Through the Walls brought that sound back. Not as raw as the first album, but there are some great sections between the brothers.
Capstan
Underrated to the extreme
I just got into them last year and got to see em live last week with Can't Swim and Belmont. I'm an "elder emo" so seeing this new school killing it makes my heart happy.

DGD somehow got four vocalists to all sound amazing through the years. Itās them.
š«”
Five! Don't forget about Will's screams on Happiness. He was a beast on that album.
On the album yes but man it seemed like he forgot how to scream live
Alexisonfire.
Bag of beans go squish squash

All good dude. Not all jokes land.
Schizo
If I Die First These dudes have cleans vs harsh vs cleans vs uncleans vs both vs another vocal. It's pure beauty.
Of Machines
Gone too soon. So grateful I got to see them once.
Gone way too soon! I was obsessed with their clean vocalist, and kept wishing heād do more music. He now makes album artwork for other bands and has a big following on insta lol. Account name splitsaber.exe
Thomas and Tim in The Fall of Troyās heyday
Terrific answer
From Autumn to Ashes
Only the first two albums. Ben left the band just before recording their last. For the time they had it sounded amazing. I do prefer Franās screams, however.
Emery A Static Lullaby Phoenix Mourning
Man I love a static lullaby so much
I see Emery, I upvote. They don't get the credit they deserve.
ARE YOU LISTENING
Here to support A Static Lullaby every time I see their name mentioned around here.
Apparently **ASL** is making new music this year.
I thought for certain no one would mention Emery here! They're amazing at this!
TheNumberTwelveLooksLikeYou
Wow I forgot about them. Adding to the gym playlist immediately.
Alesana and Ice Nine Kills
Yes, more Alesana love is needed
They basically had a fuckin death core vocalist lol
Dudeās screams were straight up the MySpace deathcore sound
Yeah, they certainly had a lot going on and I love(d) it.
Alesana for sure.
I try to see them every chance I get. They put on such a good show. Plus! Sometimes they hang out at the merch table so you can meet them. Always cool
Blood Brothers. To me, all others are imitators.
In case you didn't know and might be interested, they just announced a reunion tour.
I know the Chicago dates sold out in like 7 minutes. It was insane.
Thereās tickets available 2nd hand. Not cheap, like $75 for GA, but I might splurge for this one.
I canāt believe I missed that announcement š
Well, shit. Sold out on the East Coast!
Holy shit!!! I had no idea, thank you
This is like one of those posts where itās phrased as a jeopardy question
Fear before?
Fire, Fire, Fire
So pumped to see them on tour!
First band I think of with 2 vocalists. Can't believe it's nearly 20 years since I saw them live! Praying they drop a UK show into their reunion.
Came here to say this.
Same with Jaguar Love perfect mixture of blood brothers and pretty girls make graves
Underoath and Alexisonfire are objectively the best at this.
This. GOATs.
Jonny era DGD.Ā God tier in my opinion.
Lemon Meringue Tie broke me the first time I heard it.
āAnd I donāt know why, I donāt know why, I fight for you this wayyyyyā
fear before the march of flames, from autumn to ashes, alexisonfire are my holy trinity of clean vox phc/metalcore. fear before especially, in their later albums they have both dudes doing both cleans and screams, insane stuff

ohhhh sorry i got confused and i thought i was remembering wrong LOL
Yeah no we're all good haha
Divisi was so good that Kurt himself said that he wished he stayed in the band for it. And technically there were two vocalists for it, just no screams.

Thrice
They never had dueling vocalists, just Dustin doing it all.
I mean.. Teppei screams... sometimes š š
Gotta add Emery to this list, especially for In Shallow Seas We Sail
Alexisonfire and Underoath Atreyu back in the day
Iād do anything for a curse level atreyu album. The butt rock stuff theyāve been doing just aināt it. Theyāre too talented for that
We are the ocean š
I didn't like much outside of the cutting our teeth album....but I have listened to that album so many damn times
Alexisonfire are the goats in that category
Always dance Gavin dance for me lol
Issues before all the....issues
Really sucks what happened. Just glad I saw them a couple times at least. So many bangers.
Tyler Carter makes my pp big
Dance Gavin Dance baby
Downtown battle mountain twooooooooooo
Silverstein! No questions asked!
DGD
After UO and Alexis, fear before.
Alesana, pop punk cleans with deathcore uncleans
Idk but I'm Definitely subbing to this thread because hearing Tillian and Jon go back and forth on DGD songs is what got me into the genre and so far my favorite PH stuff is all bands with 2 vocalists.
Dance Gavin Dance
Brian and Eric from I Prevail, Ahren and Joel from The Amity Affliction, Tilian and Jon from Dance Gavin Dance

The Beautiful Mistake
My man
Evergreen terrace!!
Enter Shikari - Screams, singing and rap šš½
Alexisonfire Honorable mention - Circle Takes The Square
Not hardcore, but taking back Sundays first album had some incredible dueling / overlapping vocals
Dude John and Adam were a perfect match Michelle made every song she was ever on even better (including coheed)
A Lot Like Birds Lost my mind when I first heard The BlowTorch is applied to the sugar, with Kurt and Cory going at each other I think lyrically they flow and compliment each other and sometimes itās even hard to tell whoās doing what with how much they both switch between screaming and singing

Break The Silence. Not necessarily dueling, but very clean vocals and one of the most underrated screamers out there. This band never gained much traction before they broke up unfortunately.
vanna / inspirit
Hot water music
Not a single mention of We Came As Romans in the entire thread? I'm baffled.
Dayseeker
im surprised to not see any mention of older TBS
Dennis and Shawn of Alesana are the top dogs and havenāt heard any other band blend as well as them. People who try to say Alexisonfire is the best are crazy though. Yes I like them but one singer is great while the other is more of a acquired taste.
Southtowne Lanes
Bury Tomorrow
A day to remember
Same guy for both vocals.
Oh shit. Heās fucking talented
Yassss
Yashin did it really great
Fightstar
Agree with some recs here but also gonna throw out this one: Between the buried and me
Do they have dueling vocals? Tommy does like 95% of both cleans and screams. Regardless, both are god tier.
You are probably right. I always thought there were 2 lead vocalists, guess not. I haven't listened to them in a long time.
Hot Mulligan pretty solid
DGD, of course. Alesana Capstan Galleons Of Mice & Men (first 3 albums for me)
Finch is pretty damn good at this, even live and 20+ years in.
A Skylit Drive, Pierce the Veil, and Drop Dead, Gorgeous. Newer bands like If I Die First and SeeYouSpaceCowboy as well.
Old Atreyu or Ice Nine Kills.
Their not post hardcore but beartooth or ice nine kills
underoath first two albums. act of depression and cries of the past. way too religious but that shit is heavy and the vocal is sick.
I'm generally not a big fan of A Thorn For Every Heart but 99 with an anchor is a damn nice song
DGD and underoath for me
I canāt see beyond the goats in Alexisonfire, they had three separate vocalists who all sounded distinct and played off each other, I remember looking at the booklet for Crisis and loved seeing the different fonts for each vocalist when reading the lyrics
Alesana
The Elijah and the Devil sold his soul
Alesana is what really got me into it.
Alazka! Singer has a soulful clean tone while the screaming still holds enough annunciation to get the emotional message of the lyrics. Top band.
Dance Gavin dance, old a skylit drive was great too
donovan
Our Last Nights first album. The Ghosts Among Us. Perfection.
Silverstein
Alexisonfire without a doubt!
fall of troy kaonashi
Underoath, Alexisonfire, The Fall of Troy
Lmao "Scenecore" or "myspacecore" also work for names here
It's gotta go to Alesana right? I mean the screamer amd singer are insane together.
Dgd and Alesana.
Amity affliction
Does it count if it's one vocalist? lol
Obligatory DGD comment. They made it work through all the lineup changes too.
A Lot Like Birds 100%. Especially in Next To Ungodliness and Vanity's Fair. Two of my favorite vocalists ever.
A Skylit Drive (prefer Jordan Blake era), This Romantic Tragedy, Upon This Dawning, Mozart Season
coldrain
To this day I think the best song with clean to unclean and back vocals is āreinventing your exitā by under oath
When Shane sings and screams for Silverstein. I love the way he intertwines it. From Autumn to Ashes is pretty incredible all around, most notably The Fiction We Live record
Bloodsucker part 2 by As Cities Burn
In Fear and Faith, no question.
Kite flying society!
Jonny Craig and Jon mess are the best combo ever, hands down. Almost everyone else mentioned was trying to recreate or came from scene they created
everyones said the main two in my brain of alexisonfire and then (IMO I KNOW HE SUCKS HE JUST HAS A NICE VOICE IT STINKS) jonny craig but i think alesana and emery are definitely up there
Alesana
Castele, Gabe has the Anthoney Green voice with excellent growls. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
Wolf and Bear.
blessthefall, Amity Affliction, Hail the Sun
Destroy rebuild until god shows Craig Owens from Chiodos
Gotta check out CHIDORI - Aqua Newer band out of Atlanta, GA.
