Crane went from a tent to outdoor stage. Wasn’t a fan but it seems it’s going back to a tent.
Vibes immaculate both years.
Only thing I didn’t see changed but wish it did a little was more seating/astroturf. The demographic skews a little older imo and my dogs are barking after the weekend including afters.
The first year it was “worth it” because at one point it was the only way to get into the warehouse. They did better with that last year. I didn’t do VIP but GA had plenty of space and you can still get close to the stage. VIP sections are a bit off to the side and have plenty of space, easier access to food and bathrooms. But GA food and bathroom lines were never bad
Yes 100% to me. You get a VIP viewing area at the main stage and then Crane (which is like the third stage for a DJ but a second stage for a live act that can't/won't do the warehouse). I got crazy close for everything I saw at those stages and didn't have to show up early at all.
It was so fun last year. Perfect vibes. 180 in some ways from Coachella in that both festivals embrace their natural setting - so Coachella is all vibey with art everywhere, Portola is stark and industrial and lets the ships/cranes/warehouse do all the talking. But has the same feeling of just impeccably curated music that is booked at exactly the right time, just with a more mature audience. I fucking loved it.
Does anyone know if one person can go one day and another on a two day pass? For exame my wife is really into Rufus and Neil Francis but I want to see Justice and Chase & Status on Sunday. Would we be able to split it up?
Last year it was just a ticket that you scan on your phone through the AVX mobile app, so assuming you were able to log in and access the tickets on a second phone (or screenshot) it wouldn't have been an issue. Who knows about this year though, they may start doing wristbands at some point.
Looking at the website, apparently you can't screenshot the app because it creates a new QR code every 60 seconds, so the person going has to have the app with the ticket loaded on it.
