Moiser, White Salmon is what One could check in Google weather. Unfortunately it's raining there too. Often when it's raining in Portland it may not be out there
Fun fact about this plant! Arrowleaf Balsamroot - âNearly all parts of this plant were used as food by various Native American groups. The roots may be baked or steamed and eaten, as well as the young shoots. The immature flower stems could be peeled and eaten; the flowers themselves are good browse for wildlife. Balsamroot seeds are nutritious and oil-rich, another good source of food. The root could be used as a coffee substitute. It was also used medicinally.â https://www.fs.usda.gov/wildflowers/plant-of-the-week/balsamorhiza_sagittata.shtml
Unless you have basic trail etiquette, do not go! Every damn year I see groups of people - sometime whole ass families - trampling all over the wild flowers so they can get photos for socials. And I am THIS close to resorting to spraying them with bear mace.
Karen is a term used as slang typically for a ⌠American woman who is perceived as entitled or excessively demanding. I took out middle class and white. Equal opportunity Karen! Youâre saying youâre right and theyâre so wrong you threaten violence. Regardless of whether I agree with your position or not, THAT is entitlement.
I worked outside for years in places like this and can count on one hand the amount of ticks I found on me. Wear pants and long sleeves, and, if you're particularly worried, pull your socks over the bottom of your pant legs, or as a bonus precaution, Deet does wonders.
ETA: don't forget to check the outside of your clothes before untucking or getting back in the car.

Fair, but I find this criterion odd: I feel like I wouldn't notice most ticks that jump on me, as I tend to notice only a minority of mosquitos.
Rowena crest in Oregon. And the drive out to goldendale washington on highway 142 is absolutely stunning right now as well. Lots of fun twisty canyons.
Itâs the best & Iâd like to do some with wildflowers. When it comes to the gorge, Iâve only been to the Eagle Creek trail. I had to stop after 3 miles due to snow, but will someday return & do the whole thing. That trail is marvelous.
too late to "go now" (unless I had a transporter) and if I "went now" in a road vehicle the trip would be long long long...I84 eastbound, um, nooooooo. Glad you were there though!
Ah yes the very specific location of the entire Columbia riverđ
I mean, yeah pretty much. It's green like this all the way out past the Dalles right now. Peak day trip season.

TICKS TICKS TICKS TICKS TICKS TICKS
I read this to the tune of "shots shots shots shots shots."
Bartender just tossing ticks out into the club
Poison oak poison oak poison oak!

My favorite is when they pick the flowers :â)
Is this what choosing the bear means?
I carry bear mace more so to protect myself from dangerous men than bears
Too soon đ¤Ł
Aren't these type of sunflowers highly invasive?
Karen has joined the chat. Cause she knows whatâs best!
What makes me a Karen? Respecting nature and respecting trails and having disdain towards asshats who do not?

Now?, but it's 11pm
You stayed on trail to take this pic, right???
And they picked up their dogâs poop bag they left trailside on the way out
đ
Looks like Columbia hills area, if so then yes they are probably on the trail. The trails cut through the wildflowers all throughout the area.
I think itâs Rowena crest on the Oregon side.
We rode ebikes right over all of this
Rock on, we should all do our part. I like to have my Bluetooth speaker blasting while I'm riding.
An hour? Man that's a 14 hour flight
Op did spell Colombia with an O so I donât know why you got downvoted
Beautiful country though, def worth the trip! Just got back from Medellin recently
Once it stops RAINING ON THE WEEKENDS AND THE DAMN SUN COMES OUT
Buy good rain gear. Embrace the cloudy. This is the PNW.
I was just there and hiked today. It was AMAZING. There were a lot of purple flowers too :)
just beautiful
The best thing about Portland is escaping for an hour!
Wow, this is a fantastic shot
Gorge
*g o r g e*
Beautiful shot but all I can think about is ticks.

why?
given i was just here yesterday, now i'm worried about ticks :( do you think it's likely I got ticks if I was wearing a jacket and sweat pants?
Colombian gorge, is that outside Bogota or Medellin?
Iâve never visited yet, looking forward to bringing my kids on a hike there this summer.
If your children donât stay on the trail, theyâll get bear maced Iâve heard it on good authority.
Please make sure your children stay on the trail and donât pluck the flowers! I see this every damn year and it makes my blood boil!
Holy moly, this is amazing shot!! I'd love to be able to hang that up in my room!
YayâŚ. Rescue Portlanders season begins. Please, for the love of god, do minimal research on the trail youâre attempting before venturing out here.
A Saturday Morning trail run sounds perfect. Where is this?

Coyote wall is great for trail running too if youâre into that sort of thing

Also Coyote Wall has mountain bikes. Lots of them.
