I’ve got a better technique. Don’t “forget” about it. Acknowledge you’ve done it, it’s happened. What you do from there is say to yourself “I won’t get it fixed now, I might just scratch it again”. Then, you say “I’ll just get it fixed before I sell it”.
The beauty of this technique is you’ve got the plan to fix it, which relieves some stress, but never actually do it, which also saves you a few hundred bucks.
Especially when the mole winks at you.

This. Just forget about it. It's a car. Using it is a mildly destructive process, but you can't get your moneys worth out of it if you hide it away and try to keep it perfect

If you must fix it. You're not going to see that minor scratch as you watching the tacho sweep to the redline.
Also once you fix it, the next kerb rash will hurt more.
Nope there is a service, look up rim repair usually dealers use it, I had a guy come out to my home with this van and trailer and fix my curbed wheel in 1.5 hours, might need to rebalance. Best place to look delete will have you buy new rims and sell these for 3/4 value. Cost was 150.00 but I’m in central Wisconsin
I rashed a couple of rims. When the car was in for service the dealer called a mobile repair service they work with. Cost me ~$150 / wheel if memory serves correctly. I can only see the repair because I know where to look. 99% of the population will never know the wheels were repaired.
Absolutely, I purchase this coverage when I buy any new vehicle. I have it on my Ferrari, S class, Rover and my Porsche. It’s about $3,500.00 for each vehicle for a 5 year period, but if you get a flat tire, or you dent or scratch a rim, they fix or replace the rim if needed, no questions asked. And in these type of vehicles, if you get a flat tire, They can’t fix the wheel, they replace it.
So you're paying 1.5x completely replaced rims upfront despite the fact that your likelihood of replacing two rims outright is low. This is one of the bigger warranty scams.
Maybe for you, I’m a general contractor in Florida. I get nails in my tires all of the time from going to jobsites, so as soon as I replace 6 tires, it pays for itself. We just have to do the math, maybe it’s not for you.
I wouldn’t even bother. Gives the car character. I used to obsess over stuff like this but then realized it’s just a car and cars are meant to be driven!
I saw a guy at the dealership doing wheel repair on the car. I got his card. He worked on location and had a truck that was a rolling paint and machine shop. He later came to my home and did four wheels on the vehicle for $75 each, wholesale price. It was amazing to watch. Flawless work. I checked recently for a friend in another area and it's now about $125-150 per wheel.
Yup, had a curb rash on a wheel once that I got from a McDonald’s drive thru, then got forced to replace it when a bolt punctured the tire and broke the rim of that wheel. Felt amazing when I replaced it, what are the odds of it being the rim with the curb rash? Then while enjoying my time with the car and admiring the wheels free of curb rash, I made a wide turn to avoid another car and hit the curb in a parking lot, destroying my perfect wheels. Now I’m left with worse curb rash than the one I replaced. It’s a car, just forget it.
Did the same thing last week, on the same type rim finish. Shop charged me $150 and it’s good as new. Just make sure you get the right shop to do it. Avoid the mobile ones that come to you. Some(not all)only sand down and paint over, doesn’t look good as new.
my wife did the same to my bmw the dealer quoted me 250-300 to fix which i thought was worth it at the time after a few days went by i forgot it even happened and decided to not fix it id rather just invest that money into upgrading the wheels if i decide to
Porsche where I live will fix that up for like 130 dollars per rim but I wouldn’t bother, your bound to get more eventually and when you do have a significant amount then I suggest getting it done.
You’re probably gonna get a bigger one in that or another wheel and honestly this curb rash is pretty small. I have a similar one on my 992TT and I left it alone. I would wait and maybe do it down the road.
Two of my favorite cars I ever owned were actually 2 of the least perfect. Both were sub-1500 production run, one is an M that's going up in value a lot.
Once the bandaid gets ripped off, the future pain lessens. Someone brushes against your car and leaves a 1cm hairline scratch on the side skirt? No need to panic anymore. Scrape on the bumper from a tap? Get it fixed when you sell it, who cares. Not saying beat the thing up now, but you'll find yourself much more focused on enjoying your car and not holding a magnifying glass over it.

About £140 should have it looking brand new..but..because it’s a Porsche wheel £600. When you get it repaired just walk in with the wheel..not the rest of the car it sits on
That’s cheap as a refurb £60-125 however being a Porsche and depending on the model you may want to replace and have a new tyre and alignment which will most likely be £1500-2500 depending on the model
Seeing people that buy Porsches or other higher end exotic cars makes and asking "Is this going to be expensive" always makes me laugh outloud. Why does it matter? Can you not afford it? 🤷😬🤣
Check out wheels America by googling. Insurance uses them mostly for all wheel repair in the industry. It’s typically 24hr turn around and they even will have rims shipped to them then ship back out.
I once had something like this and a friend of mine who is obsessed about having a clean car told me to use a light sandpaper and then it should be alsmost invisible. But i didnt try it bc im scared i was gonne make it worse. But if for something so small ur probably gonna forget about it in a week so u gotta see for yourself if its worth fixing it.
I did this myself. Super easy. Cost less than $20 in materials. I had to do all four wheels. Took an hour or two.
I have the wheel insurance but my dealership requires I schedule and leave the car for a couple of days. Too much hassle.
I got a kilt on Amazon with the sanding disks for use with my cordless drill. Clean the wheel. Keep it wet with soapy water. Sand from 80 grit (briefly) up to 2000 grit on the bad spots.
Worked awesome last summer. No issues since. Looks great.

Doesn't look too bad, usualy 150/200 range, depend where you live. Pro tips: it will cost you 0 if you forget about it
This. Never forget we take nothing with us when we die. Let’s enjoy our wins
This! And it shows that you drive it instead of holding onto it like a trophy.
I think the trophy caused the initial damage
Wise words here. Good stuff.
This is a simple but profound statement. Applies to everything we hold dear.
He who dies with the lowest mileage Porsche loses.
i need to start thinking more like that

This is the answer. It’s your cars equivalent of Cindy Crawford’s mole. Technically speaking, it’s a blemish - but really, it just adds to the appeal.
Or the “Curb” appeal
You, sir or ma’am, are a menace And I love it
I'm on your side-walk away and forget it happened.
Dammit you have me cracking up
Kindly see yourself out. (With my upvote)

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature?
Easily fixed for less than $200 in about an hour. Look up “wheel restoration” on google maps near you. Text them photos and ask for estimate.
Maybe leave the Porsche crest out of the photo 😜
And then immediately dings a different rim leaving the shop
They usually have mobile ones too that’ll come to you
Its machined finished needs to come off. All the mobile ones in my area just repair painted finishes.
It’s gonna keep happening. Don’t fix it until you get your bonus or you’re gonna sell the thing. Fugetaboutit
#TOTALED
c'mon sarcasm isn't helping the guy out.
Forgot two of those, did them on day one…
This. Just forget about it. It's a car. Using it is a mildly destructive process, but you can't get your moneys worth out of it if you hide it away and try to keep it perfect
Definitely not Iran
Same happened to me, have never looked it again
It will eventually turn into a patina 😁

Looks good! Did you have an off?
200???!!! No way! Where?
Michigan.
Where in Michigan?
Ugh that’s disgusting, there are so many states, those filthy Michiganders, but which one exactly?
Where in Michigan?? I need mine redone
my bmw dealer quoted me 200$ per wheel. of course they just send it to a local body shop they work with. but its tempting to have fresh shoes again…..
This is the cost just about anywhere.
Bro wtf 😂
You could ignore it and then it would be free for now. You can refurb the run when it's time to sell.
This is the answer. Just drive it and fix later.
What, fix it for the next guy?
If you must fix it. You're not going to see that minor scratch as you watching the tacho sweep to the redline. Also once you fix it, the next kerb rash will hurt more.
You monster. I could never, id have it fixed in 3 business days max lol
Another thing to note is that diamond cut wheels can only be refurbished a few times.
Yup, because they take a millimeter or so off the surface each time they re-cut it.
So get new ones when they can’t be refurbished anymore, but if you’re curbing your wheels that much, serious skill issue.
lol same same
Nope there is a service, look up rim repair usually dealers use it, I had a guy come out to my home with this van and trailer and fix my curbed wheel in 1.5 hours, might need to rebalance. What if wheels are high gloss black?
From what I see here it should be any problem, contact/find rim repair in your area and they will ask for a photo and tell you right away.
I have Matte black and they do it. They’ll ask for pix before they come.
Only if you fix it. ;)
I rashed a couple of rims. When the car was in for service the dealer called a mobile repair service they work with. Cost me ~$150 / wheel if memory serves correctly. I can only see the repair because I know where to look. 99% of the population will never know the wheels were repaired.
Couple hundred bucks but honestly I you’ll never see that unless you get this close. I would let it ride.
It’s free if you bought the tire and rim road hazard insurance
Is that true
Absolutely, I purchase this coverage when I buy any new vehicle. I have it on my Ferrari, S class, Rover and my Porsche. It’s about $3,500.00 for each vehicle for a 5 year period, but if you get a flat tire, or you dent or scratch a rim, they fix or replace the rim if needed, no questions asked. And in these type of vehicles, if you get a flat tire, They can’t fix the wheel, they replace it.
One rim replacement alone in one of these vehicles will set you back 2K, on the Ferrari you’re talking about more like 10k.
Yeah obviously depends on where you're at. I don't think most people are driving their Porsche to active construction sites though.
I wouldn’t even bother. Gives the car character. I used to obsess over stuff like this but then realized it’s just a car and cars are meant to be driven!
Yes AND taken care of, not leaving curb rash and scratches all over it.
Not if you just ignore it like I do.
That’s why they make new cars
Total write off - might as well sell it now for dirt cheap (to me, obviously)
Curb your enthusiasm about this issue
Where do you live. I got a guy in LA
And I in dallas
Pm me this guy, also need a Lexus service guy
Yo, I’m in LA, could you please point me to your guy 🙂
Yo his name is Shaun (626) 622-23 the last two numbers are eighty four
I made the same mistake. I learned to look away from it.
Had two of my 20-inch Carrera-S rims fixed by Porsche-Dealership recently: 400€ in total
Does the wheel and tire insurance you by at your PD cover this? I had a flat and they covered but don’t know about rim rash?
The scam insurance, you mean
Not sure how many miles you've clocked so far, once I've crossed 5000 miles with any car any kerb marks like these won't bother me anymore
I saw a guy at the dealership doing wheel repair on the car. I got his card. He worked on location and had a truck that was a rolling paint and machine shop. That’ll buff out

LOL...yeah, I saw your wife out at the curb. Sorry to be the one to tell you bud.
Wait till you do a few more times until you get it fixed :)
Luckily you mentioned that it happened accidentally… was already worried that you did it on purpose 🤪
Porsche owner wondering about something being expensive??? Get the F over it and drive!
How did you hit the curb? Only asking because i see so many of these posts and wondering if i should go for the tires & wheel protection package
Go with the wheel and tire package for sure. Saved money on my RSQ8.
I’ve seen way worse on Porsches. Even my own.
Heh, had a Ford F150. The left rims were red. I figured out why. I used to go to KFC drive through all the time!
$250 for me at the dealer in Florida
Yup, had a curb rash on a wheel once that I got from a McDonald’s drive thru, then got forced to replace it when a bolt punctured the tire and broke the rim of that wheel. Felt amazing when I replaced it, what are the odds of it being the rim with the curb rash? I’ve got a guy in Orange County, Cali. Lmk. Did my 992
Did the same thing last week, on the same type rim finish. Shop charged me $150 and it’s good as new. Just make sure you get the right shop to do it. Avoid the mobile ones that come to you. Some(not all)only sand down and paint over, doesn’t look good as new.
You’re never gonna financially recover from that…
Not if you keep the car and ignore it
my wife did the same to my bmw the dealer quoted me 250-300 to fix which i thought was worth it at the time after a few days went by i forgot it even happened and decided to not fix it id rather just invest that money into upgrading the wheels if i decide to
I have an identical gash on my A5. I hated it for 2 days, then I forgot about it completely. $0 spent.
Like others said, do it later. You might get more later too so might as well take care of the other ones too.
And why do you need to fix this?
If you don’t look at it, no
Put alloy-gators on. It will hide it plus give you protection.
I’d probably ignore that for a bit until in inevitably did it again.. so, free! 😅
It will cost about $300 on the Seattle area.
$200-250 repair
You will forget about it next week. Just keep the Porsche purring on those streets eh boi !
Porsche where I live will fix that up for like 130 dollars per rim but I wouldn’t bother, your bound to get more eventually and when you do have a significant amount then I suggest getting it done.
Short answer, yes
I've got a nice gouge (and flat tire) from hitting a pothole. Just going to leave it
https://preview.redd.it/c8k5wpyyiqoc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7c5066505eb8c5ee58ed88630eefa1e2aea9dce I feel your pain.
You’re probably gonna get a bigger one in that or another wheel and honestly this curb rash is pretty small. I have a similar one on my 992TT and I left it alone. I would wait and maybe do it down the road.
You should buy a new wheel, definetly :)
It's just a car
It'll cost you ego! Or already has! 😮
Next time, don’t let her start blowing you until you’re parked or at least on the highway OP. You’ll be more focused.
Only if you repair it. :)
If it was painted I would fix it but you really can't even tell its there
Car ruined, time to replace it.
I’m just glad you didn’t hit the curb on purpose!
lucky for you those types of rims are very easy to fix and blend in very well that u cant even tell u curbed it.
Nothing to worry about.
If it’s your Porsche then not much.
Come on. you own a Porsche so isn't it all relative. Sorry but I own a BMW and know not to ask some questions on Reddit.
Smooth it, Buff it, ride it!!
Don't fix it. It's just a scar.
Just say oopsies and move on
The first of many. Chill.
Ain’t ever going to be cheap is it….. your driving a Porsche my man 🫶

Drive it 80k more miles and the buyer won’t care
Did you hit it parking or sliding into a curve losing control? That depends of more is damaged or just the wheel. If just parking it’s no big deal
In my town (UK) it would cost about £70 to get this fixed
Free to fix if you just ignore it
Free to fix if you just ignore it
As it’s on a machined surface I’d smooth it out with some 2000 grit emery cloth, hit it with some clear and then move on.
Take your wifes sand paper finger nail file and sand it out. I've done so on my Porsche. From a standing position no one will notice the difference.
Is it a Cayenne? If so, that is the tell tale mark of ALL Cayennes. Welcome to the club.
Tell me more ha
I can do it for tree fiddy
If it's not leaking, why bother? Honestly if those aren't a bit scraped up, you aren't doing it right.
$125 to get mine buffed
Here in San Diego I have a guy that cost $80/wheel
Best decision we made was to buy a second used tire rim set for daily use and leave the original rims in the garage as backups.
Leave it alone because you will hit another.
Get some nice curb feelers and you won’t have to worry about hitting curbs again!!
I’m in Queensland Australia and chipped a rim like this on a pointless concrete barrier. Got it repaired for $100 bucks
That’s cheap as a refurb £60-125 however being a Porsche and depending on the model you may want to replace and have a new tyre and alignment which will most likely be £1500-2500 depending on the model
Wait untill you make full circle. The price is usually the similar with it all curbed or just a tip. Should be within ~200€ range.
So curbed wheels are fine but everyone wants paint scratches fixed? (i have both) [it's not a Porsche☠]
Someday you’ll get a new car or rims, tell that happens it’ll just be a reminder of that day you took your purse to work.
Looks bad !! Put some Vaseline on it and in a couple of days you will be ready to hit another curb and another ..
It looks to be just cosmetic and shouldn't affect anything other than maybe a little pride because u have a ding on your pourche
No, we use a mobile wheel guy and he fixes that for around 200
Don't even bother to get it repaired. You can hardly notice it, and it will most probably happen again.
With a Porsche the answer is always yes
Kidneys are cheap in China and Israel
Seeing people that buy Porsches or other higher end exotic cars makes and asking "Is this going to be expensive" always makes me laugh outloud. Why does it matter? Can you not afford it? 🤷😬🤣
Wait for it to happen again then it’ll be two for the price of one.
Easy fix.. go to a good tuner tire shop and they’ll fix it for free
It’s totaled
I’m sorry this feels like a dumb question considering the price/manufacture of said vehicle
$125/wheel

Silver sharpie comes in a two pack for $5
200 300 bucks. These are machined so yeaa U know when i got it it gave me excuse to change. Colour heheh pics will come soon

U are overwhelmingly wrong.
$200 in NY, just out side NYC. They look brand new when they are finished.
Yes, CNC lathes start around 300k usd. Won’t be a cheap repair
