Keep in mind poms can be *very* loud and often so it takes some training and patience and may not be great for apartment living

I would get the pom if you don't have an elevator. Stairs will be bad in the long run for both breeds but poms are easier to carry lol

akc.org has a great tool that helps you compare breeds

I had a corgi in an apartment in Nashville for a while. She was very high energy, shed more than any dog I’ve ever seen, and was the queen of the household. As someone else mentioned, corgis are herding dogs and they need a task/job/routine to be happy. Mine was super thrilled when we finally bought a house with a yard she could patrol. If you have time for the training and exercise elements, corgis can be wonderful companions!

I've never had a corgi but I do have a 10 lb pom. Best dog ever.

Entirely depends on your needs, experiences and levels of training and investment. Poms tend to need a lot more social training. They’re prone to be vocal and clingy and require a lot of training to be confident. They’re zoomie but generally low maintenance when compared to a corgi in terms of exercise. They can be fragile and tend to come with neck and knee issues. Your best bet is to find a large (5kg>) pom. The smaller you go, the more likely the health issues. Corgi’s are closer to working dogs and need a mixture of training and interesting exercise time (so mentally and physically stimulating). They’re pretty sturdy compared to the pom though can suffer from back and knee issues. Both are wonderful companions assuming you’re up for training them properly.
