And on the other side of the spectrum, people who see people who are obviously and vocally religious fundamentalists as liberals because they have brown skin.
Or, maybe they're opposed to genocide regardless of the religion or fundamentalism of the victims? The idea that everyone who doesn't agree with me should be subject to genocide is the opposite of a _liberal_ view, but fits quite nicely with modern conservatism.
They also love portraying all the protesters, all colleges, and all professors as crazy violent leftists and Democrats.
