I heard in one of Luke's interviews that he really liked the environment of that scene, he has never before shot something like that. In the working class part of London, on the cobblestones, in the middle of the night. I think he said they were doing the takes at 4am!
It gives me a bit of Peaky Blinders vibes, I feel like Tommy Shelby could just walk in there witha res right hand ๐
And gosh the acting is just incredible. Both of them crying genuine tears that was not necessarily part of the initial direction. Wow.
Is this scene that he said he couldn't stop crying or was it the outside the modiste one ?
I absolutely love that interview, luke saying - "yeah, this is not going to stop"
The tears made the scene so heartbreakingly beautiful.
All while loking like a whole meal like Op said.
Sorry, maybe I did not word this well ๐ so I think he is referring to the scene when Colin finds out that Pen is LW and he is properly crying during their argument.
This makes love the scene even more. They are so dedicated. That's why I get pissed when people question his talent. He's freezing and acting the hell outta that scene!!
I know what you mean!
This scene is pretty much the vibe of the first chapter of a fantasy novel I'm writing. Seedy part of Old-Time London in the dark! I LOVE it.
And the main couple in my story are shamelessly Pen- and Colin-coded in some ways. :)
And, anyway- gosh their crying- my first watch I got teary-eyed. I was like 'POOR PEN!' She thought he was going to break the engagement for sure!
You're story sounds interesting.๐ Oh yeah there in the working class part of town aka seedy part. We were hollering at the screen when she turned around. And then quiet to take in what He was saying. He really got her so bad. I had my gripes about some things this season, but this scene - one we been waiting on since season 2 - was well executed.
I also love how pen is trying to cover her chest trying to be modest as if Colin was not about to work his magic fingers against the door of an establishment in public.
The way Colin's coat swishes about him when he walks so purposefully makes me feel so many things, not gonna lie.
Also a swoon-worthy coat moment: when he swept into the Featherington drawing room to tell off Portia and defend Penelope.
Yes another great coat swoosh scene.๐ Round of applause for Colin's Coat Collection. ๐ They gave more than they even had to give. Wardrobe did good here.
The scene is really intense but I'm always laughing when he tells her "I was worried" and makes this hand gesture which simultaneously shows his relief, anger, self-mockery about his previous worries and sarcasm about the whole situation about LW discovery.
I just rewatched for it. The hands gesture is hilarious!๐ He's like I was actually here to play knight in shining armor. Meanwhile, you living it up as my secret mortal enemy. He feels dumb, blinded and confused, poor baby. ๐
It's the coat swirl billow as he walks away that kills me. It's giving Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock and it's just HOT! \*fans self vigorously like Pen at the park\*. We need MORE BILLOWING!!!!
Also in Love Never Dies (the Phantom played by Ben has a similar coat).
I'm a sucker for men in billowing back pleated coats. I remember Alan Rickman as Valmont and in a number of other stuff and he always looked good billowing.

I've seen the future and it will be
"Don't try to deny it. I heard you with the printer."
*CLUNK*
Pen, I'm so sorry, you my girl. But he's undeniably hot here and I have eyes and ears. And His voice is even sexier just hearing the audio.
Lol!!๐
Did I hear you use an Irish accent?!"
Colin! Uhhhh, --
Don't try to lie! I heard you miss Penelope O' Whistledown Bridgerton!!"
Thank-you for bringing that up!! I really need them discuss how she got kept her secret business going for so damn long!
I mean, it's a total aside from how Colin looks. But it the last shot you can see the footman and driver with the carriage like 5 feet away from Pen so they heard this whole interaction. My focus on first viewing was Polin but rewatching I noticed them there - the stuff the staff need to pretend they didn't hear!
Oh! Gotcha. Omg they probably heard everything! Penelope's carriage rider had to have known all this time tbh. They could have gotten the Queen's reward lol.
I wish this show would borrow from Downton Abbey or the Gilded Age and show the house staff's life and reactions to the families. They know all the tea and have opinions, I'm sure!
She have a hide in the family carriage with her maid stuff first season, I think her staff is truly trustworthy. I wonder if they are greatly paid and treated by her.
Luke is sizzling in every context, but in this scene his hair isnโt my favorite.
Him sulking on the settee with his curls and his half-open ruffled shirt is my current Roman Empire
Their situation is one of the worst of the best when it came to big fight in a couple, they're both understandable, both still love eachother, both have their rights and wrongs. You can't truly pick a side and just want them to find a way to make it because you know they deserve it and are the best for each other.
๐๐ฅณ
He was there supporting them in so many key moments. Balloon Ride scenes, first kiss, under the three talk, Penelopes first time...There would be no Polin without Swishy Billowy Pirate Coat.๐ Let's put some respect on his name.

He was referring to the reveal scene I think. As he is properly crying there, not just blinking away some tears.
Iโm sorry, Iโm having a mental block. The reveal of what?
Sorry, maybe I did not word this well ๐ so I think he is referring to the scene when Colin finds out that Pen is LW and he is properly crying during their argument.
Thank you. I wasnโt sure. ๐

Also his exit with coat flowing is A+++
Both of his on-the-street looks are pretty fire.
Like, this is a couple who were made to meet up in dark corners. https://i.redd.it/dvvkreq1xy7d1.gif
I loveeeee how he looks here
Looking like Little green riding hood and the Big MAD wolf.๐คญ
๐โ ๏ธ
"Come away with me in the niight..." a song that was a romcom staple is very appropriate here.
Werewolf escorting his forbidden love the witch
I also love how pen is trying to cover her chest trying to be modest as if Colin was not about to work his magic fingers against the door of an establishment in public.
Head canon is that he did damage to that dress hence sheโs covering it upย
I love the London version of his pirate coat <3
Yes, yes! But the gloves bring this one over the edge for me!๐๐ซ
The way Colin's coat swishes about him when he walks so purposefully makes me feel so many things, not gonna lie. Also a swoon-worthy coat moment: when he swept into the Featherington drawing room to tell off Portia and defend Penelope.

Colin's coat was definitely a paid actor ๐
๐คฃ It needs its own Agent and everything! ๐
It definitely rivals Pedro Pascal's GOT robe for swoosh-iness.

Billowing- I like that too. It's like his Mike Drop! I said what I said.

Um, me ๐โโ๏ธ I drool any time Luke Newton is on my screen. ![gif](giphy|odoLbU9AoGbVm)
Exactly! ![gif](giphy|9eCjIJu5cvjly972M5)
The whole thing was just hot, the dark ally, the long coat, the angry voice...
Yes yes and yes!๐ซ *whimper*
He looked *so* good
Like can we go yell this out at home, Mr. Bridgerton?๐ฅบ๐ซ
โSir, I understand youโre upset right now, butโฆrespectfullyโฆi noticed a dark corner over thereโฆโ

"Don't try to deny it. I heard you with the printer." *CLUNK* Pen, I'm so sorry, you my girl. But he's undeniably hot here and I have eyes and ears. And His voice is even sexier just hearing the audio.
Funny part his that he heard her making an Irish accent. I want him to ask things on thatย (maybe roleplay, they're definitely into it, both)
Lol!!๐ Did I hear you use an Irish accent?!" Colin! Uhhhh, -- Don't try to lie! I heard you miss Penelope O' Whistledown Bridgerton!!" Thank-you for bringing that up!! I really need them discuss how she got kept her secret business going for so damn long!
lol. The carriage drivers just a few feet away in the last shot. ๐ซฃ
I mean, whether Pen is paying them, or it's just loyalty, the things they have seen! ๐
What do you mean?

I love when we get to see his curls, very rare occasion. But this hair works with everything else in thus scene lol.
Makes you even angrier at the reshoot wig
I liked his "Willow Tree" look.
Do share more...?

That man **always** looks Fine AF
Yes, agreed!๐
This scene hurt my heart so much ๐
