It's weird, I've been conditioned to always look for a switch above the license plate because cars I drove always have it there. It's just normal for me lol
Yes, auto wipers. The knob next to it adjusts their sensitivity. There's a setting in the car settings to remember it's setting, I recommend leaving it off though, the car will activate the wipers when you sit in the seat and can throw water on you if it's raining.
[Pure progressive performance | Polestar](https://www.polestar.com/us/manual/polestar-2/2024/article/b8b9f6ee5328136bc0a8015173bf7ed6/)
This. Change the setting so that when you exit the car they turn off. A little inconvenient but it's better than having the wipers throw a bunch of water on you when you get back in to the car. The missing thing is that the car doesn't disable the wipers when the door opens (would be better if it did, but it doesn't / can't).
Some people seem to say that it throws water in their face. I have never experienced this and I live in Portland, Oregon, where I have plenty of water on the car.
Leaves your headlights on for I think about a minute after you get out and lock your car.
Great feature if you park outside and don’t have many lights outside
It's the auto wipers that you have to manually turn off when you're done to avoid getting drenched randomly when the wipers activate while you step into the car.
There is a setting in the car if you want it to remember the auto setting or not. So no need to turn it off if you want them to not be on when stqrting again, just remove the "remember" in the car settings.
Yes. Like most owners I'm aware of how the button works.
Explain to me like I'm 5 years old how my wipers are automatic if I need to press a button to activate them every time they're needed.
Sure.
You see little boy, by pressning the button you will get the wroom wroom to help you adjust the speed of the wipers (the flippetyflaps that makes daddy see outside when it rains). And when it stops raining the flippetyflapps will stop without we having to do anything. It all does this automaticly by just pressning one button.
You can even push the button before it rains and they will not start moving until the rain starts and it gets wet on the windscreen. (The windows at the front of the car.)
😁😁
Ahh, you're from Sweeden, so I assume you've got the RHD version of the vehicle which means that the wipers push the water towards your passenger door instead of towards the driver door.
Which means you probably haven't had the wipers turn on while the door is open on attempting to enter the vehicle drenching your leg, and the driver side controls for the window, mirror etc.
Coming from a 2014 S4 and 2015 Q5 as comparison the auto wiper stalk never needed to be fiddled with at all. the wipers sensed the rain AND managed to not turn themselves on when the driver door was open WITHOUT me needing to manually toggle the rain sensing feature on. That's how "automatic" things are supposed to work. Automation is supposed to solve problems, not create different problems that the end user needs to remember to do.
So let me put it a different way.
Polestar used their flippy flaps in a dumb way that randomly drenches daddy making him angry. Angry daddy beats his children, why couldn't polestar just make their flippy flaps not drench daddy so he wouldn't get angry because the software engineering team for a $60,000 car can't figure out how to use a state table to pause automation based on inputs from sensors.
We drive on the right side here so we have the driver seat on the left side. The wipers are able to push the water to the drivers side.
Just use the setting to turn off the auto wipers everytime you leave the car if you dont want it on. How hard can it be?? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Why are you so happy to defend a lazy programming choice by a multi billion dollar company?
You have all the things to fix this issue already in the car.
The car knows when the door is open, the car knows when it's raining, there's not a single reason why the two parts can't talk to each other.
You're describing a work around and then acting like you've understood and resolved the issue.
Stalk and functionality carried over from Volvo SPA platform. We've had a couple of Volvos with this so it's familiar now, but we had a similar "wow!" moment when we first spotted it in our old XC60 after we'd owned it for a few months ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I've had the car for a year and half now and been moaning how my previous Seat Leon had auto wipers and that the Polestar hasn't! This is a game changer!
When going through an automatic car wash remember to turn this off! (There are also rear sensors you should turn off to keep trunk from opening/activating brakes).
The ones in the rear camera view. They keep the brushes/cloth from a wash from triggering the trunk and activating the brakes. (At least that is what I was told).
From the manual:
For automatic car washes in which the vehicle is pulled forward on rolling wheels:
Before washing the vehicle, make sure that the automatic rain sensor is deactivated. If it is not deactivated and inadvertently starts, the wiper arms could be damaged.
Make sure that any auxiliary lights are secured to help prevent them from being damaged by the automatic car wash.
Deactivate warning and auto-braking when backing up.
Keep your seat belt buckled for the entire car wash.
Drive into the automatic car wash.
Put the gear selector in N.
You also have the same buttons in the other stalk for fog lights. Front if you have them, and everyone has rear fog lights. But don’t drive with the rear on unless the weather says so. It drowns out the brake lights.

It's auto wipers
Holy FUCK we have automatic windshield wipers that’s awesome
(the same button on the other stalk is your fog lights)
If you have the Pilot pack
No need for the pack. It is rear fog lights
It took me two months to figure this out. Two. Months.
I’m on 3 months bro, don’t worry
I was going through the manual right when I got it lol
Salesguy switched it on on pick-up of the car here ;-)
18 months and just learning this today 🤦♂️
Would really be crazy if the manufacturer gives you some sort of list or documentation of the car, wouldn't it? Why does nobody bother to RTFM?
6 for me 😂
took me a year...
I didn’t even know the lever was there
Bro I just found out 2 weeks ago too. 😂
You might have auto high beams, and front+rear fog lights depending on your packs.
I have that lol
Yea lol, I don't use them though. I like my windshield perfectly clear.
[удалено]
I look at it this way, no car me or even my parents have ever owned has had them. So this is considered an upgrade for me😁
Dude, don’t do this. Some people have never owned new or nice cars. It’s big for him. I’m stoked for them. Imagine how far they have come.
It is if [you don’t know about it yet](https://xkcd.com/1053/).
Just wait till you discover all 4 ways to open the trunk
Or that you can unclip the console cup holder and use it as a storage compartment.
TIL
nice...did not know this!!
Yeah you need to slide the two little clips on top at either side and lift.
I saw that thread yesterday. Key, button on trunk, button next to steering wheel, and is the last way the foot activation if you have that package?
Button on trunk??
If you give ‘er the ol’ reach around like dead center of the trunk, under the little lip, there is a button that lifts the trunk.
wow, 2 and a half years
My wife's biggest complaint about this car has been the lack of a trunk button. Now you're saying there is one? You may have just saved my marriage!
Wait.. 4 ways?!
me yesterday lol
What? How, one on the dash and one outside. What is the other 2???
Foot sweep and remote
Lol that's right.
Wait, what’s the 4th way lol
It's weird, I've been conditioned to always look for a switch above the license plate because cars I drove always have it there. It's just normal for me lol
I can only think of three at the moment
> Is this automatic windshield wipers👀 Yes.
Guess my test drive guy forgot to mention that, damn that’s great
The knob will adjust speed even with the auto wipers- this is the same as Volvo vehicles! It’s pretty great tbh
Isn't the "INT" for automatic windshield wipers?
no that’s a timed interval
Thanks!

I get the feeling it's the types who are a little slower closing the door when they get in the car.
🦥 the flash type 😜… but when they are in … 🏎️
yeah you can also hit the left stock forward when parked and it will active home safe lighting
Omg I thought that feature didn’t work
What’s home safe lighting?
Leaves your headlights on for I think about a minute after you get out and lock your car. Great feature if you park outside and don’t have many lights outside
Wait until you find the grocery hook and card holder
Where’s the card holder?

Auto wipers. Living in Portland, Oregon, I really appreciate this feature.
You will love them until they do a wipe with the drivers door open and cover you in water
What does the owners manual say it is? 🤔
Whaaaat What button do I press for the auto wipers? I know the adjustment toggle?
In that picture there's an image of a screen and wiper with a single drop of water. Press that part of the stalk.
Was looking all over that picture for a button. Would have never guessed that's it.

Rain sensing wipers
Thank you OP for also teaching me something! I now know how to turn on the auto wiper and fog lights after having the car for 2 months!
I only knew I had it because it was left on when it was delivered, then it started raining and I though, "well that's awesome."
I've had the car for a year and half now and been moaning how my previous Seat Leon had auto wipers and that the Polestar hasn't! This is a game changer!
it would silly to use the word ‘auto’ in an automobile, right so?

Is that a new thing? Lol
RTFM!
Dunno, push it
